  1. I'm bummed I ended up not going to TECON 2017, but it was for the best that I stayed home as my wife went into labor the Sunday during TECON. Even though west coast is easiest/cheapest for me, I'd really like to get out and see one of the other proposed cities like Boston or New Orleans. Growing up in LA I'm pretty tired of it and want to get out, though I admit there can be some cool stuff to see, its just so congested, dirty and expensive here. If you do end up scheduling it for California, I can get some pretty cheap and nice beach cottages on base here at Coronado Island (San Diego) http://get.dodlodging.net/propertys/North-Island-Beach-Cottages, last I checked each was like $85 per night. I'd prefer to get out of the west coast (best coast).
  2. I wont be able to make this anymore due to my wife planning on spawning some sort of horrific creature that week.
  3. Tayissa doesn't even look up as she answers the question, busy loading a crate with medical supplies. "She makes good coffee." The interviewer doesn't look pleased, "Thats... All you have to say?" Tayissa gives an unhappy glare as she halts her work, and wipes a hand across her sweaty brow, "Fine. Katelle is really smart. I think she knows a lot more than she lets on. She truly believe in The Vision, but recognizes that sometimes you have to get your hands dirty..." Tayissa is silent for a moment, then stares hard at the interviewer, "But not dirty enough to get some important things done. Kate's the closest friend I have in Twilight Empire, she definitely has let me get away with more than I deserve." She then turns back to packing her crate, ending the conversation.
  4. Yup I'm going, I had posted in the Grim forums about it. I can also lend an inflatable mattress to the suite group, but I'll most likely be getting a room elsewhere.
  5. Las Vegas is actually really cheap for airfare and hotels compared to most places, that's why a lot of businesses have meetings there. Anyways, hope I can go and see ya'll there.
  6. Full Name: Aderlee Titles or Nicknames: (None by the Grim) Witchdoctor Aderlee, Doctor Age: Physical Age 48, Chronological Age 4000+ Race: Currently Sandfury Troll, originally Gurubashi Troll Gender: Male Physical Features: Tall and lanky, moving at a slow gait and a glazed over look to his eyes, Aderlee would seem at a minimum approachable and more likely goofy. Dyed red hair match his uncharacteristic (for a Sandfury) red eyes, which contain a wealth of knowledge and understanding upon very close inspection. His skin is covered in hundreds of piercings and studs, never more than an inch apart from each other, his blue skin mixed with endless glints of silver. Various trinkets, fetishes, rings and bells are attached to his robes, giving every movement he makes a jingling, almost musical as he walks. While in battle, Aderlee's robes makes an eerie song, and his spellcasting appears more of a dance. While speaking, his voice carries a deep, resonating tone. Currently he wears an old Grim tabard, previously owned by Thulgrim, bloody and faded. Residence: A rarely used bunk in the Grim Guild Hall is kept extremely neat and clean of dirt. His semi-permanent residence is an old lab in the Ghostlands. Place of Birth: Born in a rickety wooden hut on stilts on the outskirts of Zul'Gurub Religion / Philosophy: Aderlee respects and consults many voodoo troll spirits. Over time studying with various different troll tribes, he may call upon or speak to many different spirits when it is convenient to him, but must take care to reciprocate their help to stay in their good graces. His original master taught him not to worship a single loa, but all things living and dead. Aderlee has taken this to the extreme and has tried to glean knowledge from witchdoctors all over Azeroth, eventually coming to the conclusion that Hakkar is the most powerful force in nature, and that blood magic is the most powerful kind of magic he can wield. Existing as long as he has, he finds it difficult to make attachments to most living beings as the majority have passed in time. He takes several days to make decisions that would take most people minutes or hours, as he feels no urgency in time. Occupation: Relatively weak and somewhat clumsy, Aderlee was not accepted as a warrior. He took it upon himself to learn the art of weaving shadows, and used trickery and deceit to give him an advantage. Eventually being accepted as a witchdoctor's apprentice, Aderlee realized that knowledge as power, and developed a hunger to learn any scrap of knowledge he could. He continues to this day his quest for knowledge, and never considers his own training complete, even as he has taught hundreds of apprentices of his own. Guild Rank: Reaper Known Associates: Argent Crusade- The Lich King presented one of the greatest threats Aderlee had seen, so he joined the crusade to distribute his potions and lend his healing aid. Masuabie the Huntmaster- Aderlee and Masuabie have teamed up for several adventures, and he is one of Aderlee's few but trusted friends. Matthias Reiter- Aderlee has teamed up with the Deathstalker Matthias on several occasions, and is known to keep in correspondence. Special Skills and Personality Traits: Aderlee uniquely wields blood magic as his primary source of voodoo. His magic uses the body's own blood and biological functions to heal and protect, or as the need arises, break down and destroy. Aderlee is very adept as creating potions and brews, and has a knack for explosive mechanical devices. He has a strange quirk of bobbing his head, sort of like a bird, and in general is seen smiling and punctuating his sentences with a short laugh. History: Knowledge is Power More recently after the fall of The Lich King and leaving the Argent Crusade, Aderlee developed an addiction to fel magic while conducting research on fel magic. To this day, a very small presence of fel can be detected in him. In pursuit of this research, Aderlee joined Black Dawn, a dark guild dead set on bringing terror to The Kingdom of the Sun, following the leadership of Althir. Learning all that he could of fel magic, Aderlee retreated into the Ghostlands to build his lab and consolidate what he learned onto parchment. Spending two years in solitude, Aderlee emerged and learned of Sanctuary. Attempting to give complete peace a chance, Aderlee joined (mostly because he really liked the purple color on their tabards), but soon realized his mistake as there can never exist a peace with the alliance. Venturing into Ashran and lending his aid once again to the fighting forces, Aderlee was convinced that the only way to keep himself and the horde safe was by eliminating the alliance. To reach this end, Aderlee joined The Grim. Song:
  7. Do you know who Cefka is, and the things he has said and done? Him and people like him are why we have 'secret' or passworded rp channels (I hate using the word secret, because obviously we want the whole community and every RPer to be in the channel, but it acts as a screen to keep Cefka and people like Cefka out). When people feel threatened and unsafe in real life, that is far beyond the point when you start taking measures to protect not just those people, but our whole community.
  8. @ Jade Lion, I got the impression that your friend was out to complain and talk smack about RH-TN, besides Ayther trolling *smacks Ayther* they were politely told the situation and they insisted on making a problem.
  9. Tayissa leans against an empty stall, chewing on a bright green apple when asked about the warrior, "Myaka is one soldier you'd want watching your back. She's one of the few good ones left," Tayissa thinks about this in silence for a moment, picking a bit of apple skin from between her teeth, "Maybe a little too much for her own good, I think it'll come back to bite her one day... Don't ever make her angry, you'll be sorry if you do that."
  10. If I can swing it, I'd totally like to go on Aderlee for the horde and Tayissa for the alliance.
  11. (( I can't make it the weeks of the 4th and 11th, I hope it's a week later but I understand the scheduling if it isn't, ))
  12. Name: Tayissa Marie Steel Age: 28 Place of Birth: Moonbrook Residence: Twilight’s Cog, homeport in Booty Bay Height: 6’2” Weight: 185 lbs Eyes: Dark brown Hair: Dark blonde Physical description: Standing at 6'2", Tayissa is a tall and imposing human. Her posture is rigid and almost military like, her strides long and always with purpose. A long mass of wavy dark blonde hair is tucked under a large bandana with free strands poking out in all directions. Her dark chocolate eyes offer no warmth, stare hard, and tend to linger, perhaps evaluating and sizing up those around her. Both ears have several silver rings pierced on the lobes and upper ears. She wears a mix of old leather and faded cloth, a few sizes too large and stiffened from sea salt, hiding her wide hips and long legs. Her clothes seem to be recently tailored and are currently in remarkable condition. A brown sleeveless vest reveals strong and tattooed arms, and her left arm ends at the wrist where a mechanical bionic makes up her hand. Her right leg below the knee ends in a mechanical bionic in a similar fashion to her left hand. Her right hand is never seen without a well maintained brown glove. Her left arm’s tattoo depicts a pair of dragons wrestling in the sky over an unnamed burning city, one breathing fire and the other ice. Her right arm depicts a quintuple of armored skeletal warriors, each representing a different point in time and a different culture. If her back were revealed, it would depict a wooden frigate being split in two and pulled under the waves by an even larger kraken in rough and stormy seas. A short curved sword, a pair of revolver pistols and a knife are slung low from her belt along with various pouches that carry ammunition and other tools. A brand new bolt action rifle is slung over her shoulder as well. While wearing her guild tabard, a small lion-shaped insignia with sapphire eyes, mounted on a piece of blue leather is attached to her shoulder. Along the bottom of the insignia is the word 'STEEL'. Anyone familiar with the insignia would recognize the rank as ‘Sergeant’. Known Relatives: Jayne Steel (father), Lyra Steel (Mother), Brent Steel (Brother) Religion/Philosophy: Live to be free. Occupation: Sailor, guerrilla fighter Affiliation: Former Defias, Twilight Empire Enemies: Varian Wrynn (or whomever the current king is), Stormwind, The Grim Likes: Freedom, Gold, Open Seas, A good view, coffee Dislikes: Authority, weakness, gnomes Hobbies: Painting, classical music, sailing Positive Personality traits: Dependable, decisive, candid Negative Personality traits: Gets frustrated easily, slow to trust, lacks tact Weapons: Bolt-action rifle, twin revolvers, short sword Personality: Tayissa may seem stoic, rigid and cold to outsiders, but she is warm and open to her close companions, though very few are counted as such. A life of growing up with bleak prospects for her family, friends and future, Tayissa exhibits a cynical personality and is slow to trust. She believes people should be able to take care of themselves and doesn't like going out of her way to help others. Her time spent with Captain Masuabie has left a lasting impression, and his quirky behavior has given Tayissa a slight sense of humor. After years spent with Twilight Empire, Tayissa is starting to lean that sometimes people just simply need a helping hand, though it doesn't change her opinion that they should be able to take care of themselves. When on the job, Tayissa acts very disciplined and doesn’t take her work lightly. She is very strict and has a mean command voice, unafraid to shout at her close friends to get the job done. While serving Captain Masuabie, much of her job was keeping him in line and the ship in running condition. Her leadership is harsh but effective. While Masuabie was the brains, Tayissa was the vital cog to keep the machine running. She is the epitome of tough love. History Prior to joining Twilight Empire: Typical of most residents growing up in Moonbrook, Tayissa was raised with a strong distaste of Stormwind. Her father an engineer, her mother a carpenter, and older brother a future sailor, the Steel family dedicated their resources and manpower to the Defias Brotherhood. Because of this, her family gave her no formal schooling and emphasized practical skills over education. As a result, Tayissa never learned to read and is illiterate to this day, and is generally uneducated but happens to be very skilled with her hands. Although Tayissa’s family sheltered her from the brotherhood at a young age, she slowly came to realize and understand the situation of her friends and neighbors and decided to become a member. To help put food on the table, her brother would take her hunting as soon as she was old enough to hold a rifle, and she developed marksman skills over the years. Further attempts by her brother to teach her swordplay failed and revealed Tayissa to be relatively clumsy and uncoordinated with a blade. When engaged in melee combat, Tayissa fights in a very unorthodox manner, adding punches and grapples to make up for her lacking swordplay. Tayissa’s growth spurt stared early and hit hard, soon she was towering over all other kids her age. This gave the first impression that she appeared much older than she really is. Using this to her advantage Tayissa soon began joining raiding parties into Duskwood and Elwynn Forest, wielding a rifled musket to ambush caravans and bring stolen goods back to Moonbrook. Now an active member of the brotherhood, Tayissa distanced herself from her childhood friends with the exception of Calvington Fallbrook, her closest and most trusted friend, who would eventually sail with her under Captain Masuabie. Participating in minor raids left Tayissa wanting more, and at the age of fifteen she followed in her brother’s footsteps and joined the crew of a raiding vessel to terrorize the shipping lanes. Starting out as a ships cook, she quickly learned the nuances of sailing and traveled from ship to ship, never staying on the same crew very long. Eventually she came across the famed ‘Huntmaster’, Captain Masuabie. After resolving a drunken squabble for him, he asked her to join the crew of the Fallen Slave and she rose up over time to become First Mate to Captain Masuabie. Finally feeling at home with his crew and serving under a competent captain, Tayissa stayed for many years and eventually joined the Twilight Empire at the behest of Captain Masuabie. Theme Song: Tayissa is the Captain of a privateer. Ship Name: Twilight's Cog Class: Brigatine Length: 40 meters Width: 9.5 meters Height: 35 meters Complement: 8 man skeleton crew, preferred 30 man full crew. Armament: 10 Cannons, 4 swivel cannons, dozens of spare muskets, pistols, and grenades. Cargo Capacity: 50 tons Crew Officers: Captain: Tayissa Steel First Mate: Calvington Fallbrooke Quartermaster: Autumn Delenay Cook: Sidrae Silverflame Deck chief: -Vacant- Gunnery chief: -Vacant- Crew (PC's) David Vanias Mattock Thundershaft Sailors (NPCS): Zemo Blastwheel, goblin rogue Bartholomew "Decoy" Sommers, worgen rogue Salana Stonefist, dwarf warrior Cornwallis Caruthers, worgen warrior Jaydie "Popsicle" Snowdoom, human death knight Timothy Hammerstill, dwarf medic Dward "Squeeks" Howard, human hunter Kazik "Fuse" Steelgear, goblin hunter Ashton Love, human hunter Cyranna Winterblaze, night elf mage Chon Wang, pandaren monk Past Crewmembers: Walter Owens, human rogue KIA Filgro Shortcrank, gnome rogue KIA Todd Hicksam, human hunter KIA Fintink Swiftblast, gnome rogue KIA Description: Short, small, and fast, the Twilight's Cog rides low to the sea and uses it's high speed and low visibility to it's advantage. Not designed to stand up in a fight, she is highly maneuverable and can steer her way around obstacles that would be impossible for a larger ship. When stalking another ship, she can ride the valleys of waves to sneak up on a ship, then close the gap before the other ship can adequately prepare for battle. Besides from some very light battle damage, the ship seems pristine. The wood, rope, and sails are fresh and no signs of weathering can be seen as of yet. Her design seems to be very modern, combining the size and maneuverability of a large sloop with the twin-masted design of a brig. She makes the perfect vessel for a smuggling crew.
  13. I'll try, I'm not sure if I'll be back from work travel by then. I guess it depends on the plane and stuff.

Taunt: "You wanna know how I got these... Bionics?" Stands up straighter. "Don't pick on someone bigger than you." Joke: Tayissa slings her rifle over her shoulder. Tayissa sighs, disgruntled voice. "Fine, what did the pirate pay for her ship?..." Disgruntled voice. "... And arrrrrrrm and a pegleg." "Have you ever heard of the huntmaster?" "It's not piracy... It's privateering." Death: Tayissa falls on her stomach, then tries to push herself up with her rifle, falling down again for good. "Death to the king..." Rebirth: "I must've blacked out there."
