  1. It's a default setting. The reason there is a limit is because it gives reputation points. I'll increase the limit.

    To get everyone in the mood for Legion, I am holding a demon hunter story and art contest. It can be an origin story, or the continuing adventures of your character. Open to characters on Twisting Nether or Ravenholdt, and can be either Alliance or Horde. Contest runs until September 12, 2016. Prize: 1,000 Gold, and featured on the Home page here on TNG. To enter, simply put [contest] in the title of your Nether Legends or Artist Gallery post. Content should follow normal TNG rules. Any questions? Post them here

  5. Welcome to the New TNG!

    The move from a vBulletin based forum to an IPS Community Suite has been completed. Welcome back Things to know: If you had blogs or groups on the old site, they are no longer readily available. If it's important, I can pull the information from the database. Let me know via PM if you need me to retrieve something. Expect it to take up to a few days to get back to you. Because the new system doesn't allow more than one account to use the same email address, many accounts have been given "dummy" emails with the format username@wow-tng.org. Your email WILL be good to log into your primary account. If you want to switch which account is designated the primary, let me know. If you have forgotten your password and cannot retrieve it due to the change of email, let me or @Keraph know and we can get that fixed for you. You can now easily switch between Alt accounts, and create new ones extremely easily. The new groups feature is pretty amazing. You can essentially setup a website for yourself. Feel free to use it to plan out collaborative RP stories, or as a substitute for a guilds or group website. If you have suggestions or find bugs, post in the Suggestions forum. Currently there are two themes, this dark, Legion colors, and a basic "white" theme that comes default. More themes can be created if needed. Enjoy!
  6. Hmm, it appears the forums auto-detects your timezone based on whatever device you are using to connect with. I've found a way to turn it off for individual members, but I don't see a way to do it for everyone. I guess if you are having problems with the times on the site, let me know?? *shrug*
  7. Are you getting different times for different characters? The calendar is going to post for your profile's timezone, and automatically calculate the time for people in different time zones (to be safe, I suggest putting in the server time in the description since everyone knows how to calculate from that)

  18. I cleared the test site (http://wow-tng.com) last night. It will be moving to a different hosted server sometime tonight/tomorrow. There are a few more things I want to test/setup, but I'm pretty happy with the initial conversion. Currently I am tentatively planning on making the real move this weekend (June 18th-19th 2016). During that time, both sites will be offline for -at least- 24 hours, possibly longer. When it comes back up, there will only be the wow-tng.org domain left. What you need to do: If you have multiple logins/characters here (and you haven't already contacted me, or you are happy with primary/secondary list I emailed out a while back), make sure you change all of their emails to be the same and either contact me with which character you want to be the primary login, or make sure you log out of that one last on Friday night (the 17th). I will be sending out another email like the last batch letting you know who will be designated primary with a list of the secondary accounts being attached to it. I will still be able to switch these around, if needed, after the move, but it will make my life much easier if you let me know before hand. If you have blogs (or friend's blogs) here that you want to save, please do so. I do plan to post the blogs on the new site in an archive format where you will only be able to see your own blogs, but it may take some time to make that bit of coding happen. Please save any group information you want to keep. I will be able to pull information out of the saved database tables if needed, but I will not be converting them on the new site. I still haven't decided on whether to acquire the Group Application on the new site yet or not. I am leaning towards 'yes', although I am disappointed not a single person played around with the group functionality on the test site while I had it installed. All forum posts, wall posts, and PMs will be transferred over. Chats will not. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
  19. bump! This is happening tonight. I will be turning off new registrations and the ability to make changes to your profile around 8pm EDT, so this is your last chance to self-link any of your alt accounts (see above). Once I have the final primary->secondary accounts master list created I will take the forums themselves down, probably around 10pm EDT, so if you are still posting around that time, make sure you make a copy of your writing so it isn't lost because the forum went down before you finished. Anything posted before the site goes down is safe and will be moved over. My guess is it will take at least 24 hours from the time the boards go down to when the new ones are available again. Most of this time is due to how long it takes IPS4 to relink member IDs, Post numbers, and convert internal links, which is out of my control. I'm hoping that the faster host machine will not take as long as the test run did, but I don't want to give false hope If you have any questions, let me know.
  20. Over the next week I will be setting up a test install of a new forum system that will eventually become the new TNG. It will likely be another month or so before it goes live. One of the problems I've been running into in finding an upgrade option is most of the forum systems I've been researching have a hard requirement that there be only one email per member. We currently have about 500 members that have more than one character on the forums. This is spanned over the 10+ years the forums have been active, so most of those aren't active. IPBoards (https://invisionpower.com/) has an RP mod/app that will allow users to create a master account and link new "characters" to post as. Here's some screenshots: I think this will make everyone's lives a bit easier going forward for posting as different characters. All current posts will be ported over, and you should be able to login just fine. I will be contacting those of you with multiple accounts directly to determine which one you want to be designated as the "main" account. This will probably happen either this weekend or next week. In the meantime, if you want to have some input on which base style to use, feel free to peruse https://invisionpower.com/files/category/162-themes/. I will be customizing them to be more WoW centric, and I will continue to have a light and a dark theme, most likely with Legion-esque color schemes.
  21. Added a demo version of the groups application. Feel free to play around with it. The chatbox archive seems to be working fine, although after adding a few more chats, it looks like the chatbox does let you "Load More" when you hit the top/bottom of the list.

  23. hrrrm, I don't see an archive option for either chat. The one that comes with the forum -is- keeping a log, but there isn't an option to allow members to see it. I may look into some of the stand-alone chatboxes, but the couple I looked at already turned me off with their 5billion spammy ads on their websites...it's never a good sign for a product.
  24. Let me know via PM which accounts you want to combine, and which one you want to be the primary. Make sure the account you want to be the primary has an email you actually use so you'll get an email before the "real" export happens. There isn't a way for a member to combine their accounts after the move, but I can do it on the backend, I think. I should actually test that out on the test site. You can also just set all of your accounts here to have the same email, and make sure you login to the one you want to be primary last, as the auto-process just picks whichever one you logged into last to be the primary, unless you've contacted me and I've setup a separate process for you.
  25. Just as an update, the test conversion went pretty well as far as I can tell. You are welcome to give it a test drive at http://wow-tng.com/. Notes: * Everything there WILL be deleted. Don't post any new stories there other than as a test. * Blogs are gone. No one has used the blogs here for several years minus a random post once every 2 or 3 months, so you'd have to have a really good reason to bring them back. I will be keeping the database so at worst, I can dig up an old post of yours if you really needed it, and at best, I may setup a way to see YOUR old archived blogs. Translating the member-by-member permissions settings would be kind of nightmarish, and I'd rather be conservative in what can be seen by whom. * Groups are gone. There -is- a REALLY nice mod that blows the current vBulletin group options out of the water, but it will cost me a bit to purchase it, and it has a yearly renewal fee that is almost as much as the original purchase price. Groups are being used by a few people here and there, and I've seen a couple of smaller guilds use them as an alternative to getting a guild site. https://invisionpower.com/files/file/7264-group-collaboration-full/ if you want to check out the mod. Let me know if this is something that is important to you. * There are currently 2 chat programs running. The one that is under the forums is probably the one I'll stick with, as I haven't found a way to put the one that actually comes with the forum on the main page. NEITHER one gives you FONT options, which makes me a bit sad. It may be possible for me to hack that, but I have the suspicion that if it were easy, someone else would have already done it. On the bright side, the one under the forums currently DOES show your icon. * The theme that I modified to create the Legion theme was a dark gray/blue-ish theme, so there are a few places where you'll see some non-green colors, but I think I've eliminated any bright white spots (other than the non-under-the-forum chatbox). Let me know if you find any blinding white spots on the dark Legion theme. * The character switching thing is working. Play around with it. Let me know if you want other characters associated with your primary account or if you want a different one to be your main. Alt accounts are able to do almost anything the primary account can (customize their Wall, post everywhere, etc), they just won't be able to have their passwords reset automatically. * Your account will be temporarily locked out after 2 bad password inputs, which is a little low. I'm still trying to figure out if I can change that to at least 3 or 5 like most sites have. * I only have a few of the forums turned on...all of the current forums will be live when I do the real conversion.

The Twisting Nether Gazette is a role play forum for characters on the RP-PVP servers Twisting Nether and Ravenholdt.  We have been active since November of 2005, a few months after the Twisting Nether server originally went live.  Our purpose is to provide a safe and inclusive environment where role players can meet and interact with each other, and, of course, post their amazing role play stories, art, bios, and journals.
