History: Mardalius was an accident. His parents never planned on having children, and when he was born, Margoz had to beg Kirsune to help raise him. Given that Margoz was away soldiering often, this lead to nearly a decade of emotional abuse and attempts to abandon Mardalius or adopt him out, all of which were foiled by Margoz. As a young boy, he was considered a freak by his peers for his "tainted blood." This lead to isolationist behavior, the effects of which can still be seen in some of his social interactions to this day. When Mardalius was ten, the Scourge marched on Quel'thalas, headed for the Sunwell. Kirsune took Mardalius and escaped by portal to Dalaran, only to leave him apprenticed to her father, an accomplished battlemage. For a decade, Mardalius trained in the arts of Frost and Fire magics as well as with the sword. His grandfather molded him into a weapon for "the wars to come," something that came in handy when Mardalius reconnected with his father at the onset of the Draenor Campaign. With the help of Margoz, Mardalius enlisted in the Alliance Navy aboard The Jade Lion, under Captain Zhi Fa. The following months and years would see the father/son duo embark on several missions together, eventually leaving the Navy and The Jade Lion to join other orders, finally ending in Night Vanguard with many comrades from days gone by, including one Sorel Crescentsong, who held the command. Mardalius and Sorel were always oil and water, but this new command relationship strained that to new heights, culminating in Mardalius joining the Horde organization Sanctuary, where he could be among his people.

"I don't know why he hasn't been cut down in the street for crimes far worse than mine, but I also don't feel like I need to be the one to give him what's coming to him. It's not that he has no skills. He would have value if his existence weren't itself treason. Time and the Mandate will take care of the problem he presents."

"Hotheaded and thinks he can solve everything himself, from what I heard. My daughter seemed to adore him, so he must come off as...heroic," -Brinnea.

"Mardalius," Julilee says, consideringly. Her gaze moves to the person inquiring, obviously debating how honest to be with them, but not for the reasons one might assume. As it turns out, whoever it is invites her confidence and honesty.

"He's... eager to prove himself," she says finally. "He's a very resilient person. I understand he grew up in trying circumstances, though you wouldn't know it by the way he carries himself. Very confident, very capable, doesn't hesitate or overthink things. But sometimes he overreacts to threats..." She pauses.

"Someone less scrupulous would probably be able to manipulate him easily."

She shakes her head.

"But he'll always come back to the right path, I think."

"Mardy?" The orc stops for a moment, pondering. "Lad seems a bit uptight, but an alright sort. Seems tha type ta need a friend er two, considerin' I imagine growin' up wit a shitbag hume dad might be a bit o' its own hell." The orc puffs his pipe, "I know wut it be like, me blood ain't dwarvish, but I wuz raised alla tha same round tha Cinderguts might as well be carryin' sum Dark Iron blood in me...be difficult growin' wit two worlds."

Cobrak hums for a moment, "Shame Liene snagged 'im, think 'e woulda fit right fine in BT."

"Mardalius..." Sorel growls a little at the mention of the name. "I hated him intensely once. He prided himself on his Thalassian blood, spending literal hours on end primping himself, with an ego bigger than Deathwing's metal jaw. I am no fan of Thalassians, and he seemed to delight rubbing that part of him in my face." He closed his eyes. "But now I understand that he was acting on how he thought they were, and all he sought was approval. I'm still not a fan of his more... Thalassian aspects, but I would treat him a lo-... a bit better if I met him now."

----------------------------------------------------------------

"I feel bad for him, honestly." T'suro shrugged. "Half-blood, just wants to feel like he matters, acts all haughty to hide that. I understand his position, wanting to belong... I'm glad he got out of that toxic environment the Vanguard put him in... being around us Sin'dorei might be a big help for him, and I plan to help every way I can."

"Mardalius is a strong and confident battlemage," Alinah says proudly. "I think he will prove himself to be a great asset to the Horde and Sanctuary, if he hasn't already. I'm glad I met him when I did, or I might never have had the courage to leave my old life behind. I hope we have a long life together."

“Yeah, I guess. I haven’t gotten a chance to talk to him. At all I think, but he’s cute, so I’d totally...”

When asked even with his blue eyes and mixed heritage, Aaren’s face twists a little as she seems to have quickly changed her mind. “I... I didn’t notice...”
