Everyone says what pretty moos I draw. >.> I thought I'd post some of the first drawings I ever put online of Tauren and compare them to the new ones.

See, the big issue that I was having was the way the skull was shaped. I couldn't figure out how to make the character expressive while keeping a "cow" shaped face so I experimented. At the time, I was uuuuber excited because I thought they looked fabulous.

Now? Now I hate them. x.x

The only really big differences I see between them is the shape of the jaw and nostrils (cows and horses don't really differ too much in the shape of their heads in the first place), and maybe a little difference in the brows, the newer ones being a little bigger. Even then, I think it's kinda negligible, since tauren faces are supposed to be a mix of a humanoid and bovine, and it's hard to say how that'd turn out.

The game models and concept art of Tauren are more geared towards almost fully animalistic faces, with more human bodies. The tweakige on their structures is rather minimal

Feral I have to agree with what someone else said. They are pretty close. :)

Let alone we all have to start somewhere be it good or bad in our minds.

This is why I really don't draw. I can draw. I have some old stuff that is alright in my mind that friends have seen and raved about. Now if you put sculpting compound in my hands I'm on cloud nine. I've done a 'bear butt' (think the view druids and anyone who is using them as a tank get. LOL) For my brother in law as a birthday present. I still owe the folks who helped me picture goodness. (That will be soon since I found the camera and the card reader!)

But, I digress...

Basically I think that all of your work is really good the old and the new. Why do you think I asked you to do a picture of Amoola. :)

Hehehe. ^_^ Yeah well...

To be perfectly honest, I see a huuuuuge difference between a bovine and an equine. Bovine for instance have very squared heads. I sort of start with a rhombus in mind when I do a Tauren face to keep with that shape. A horse however is ovoid. The only thing I use them for for reference is "roaring" in a Tauren's face. Cow's tend to low, or "moo" as people put it, and when they do it's more to do with the throat than the actual face, however horses are MARVELOUS when it comes to Tauren reference because they bare their teeth and part of their jaw when they yawn, opening their mouth fully.

True the end of the muzzle is relatively similar in shape, however the head itself is different. Having lived with both, I personally love the look of a cow's head more than an actual horses, but a horses' body is more aesthetically pleasing than a cows. <_< With my Tauren I try to combine both. Maybe I'll scan the very first pic I did of Feral and you can see what I mean about the muzzles... XD

Honestly wouldn't worry about it, your taurens are fine. They don't have to look EXACTLY like the people in the game do.....

Aside from adoring your cows (even nekkid ones >_>) I think the muzzle not being so close to the body removes them a bit from the game look of the tauren, but the thing is that I think that kinda makes them a bit too animalistic. Yours are so much more expressive. Perhaps work on refining your muzzle to approximate cows a bit better-the shapes are different I know but I can't describe how. My brain is fried from finals >_<
