The Memorial of Lupa’Jin

Many gathered on the northern most isle of the Echo Isles, on the northern most beach of that isle, facing the Great Sea.

Brakogar begins the ceremony as everyone kneels, “The life of Jupa’jin. I have asked you all to come to this location as I believe that the essence of who Lupa’Jin was is all around us here.”

Brakogar continues as he points to the tropics and animals, “Lupa was a hunter and we are surrounded by what is very significant to such of the wilds. But Lupa’s passion was something greater, something that links the world together, something that many of us would not be without. That is the Great Sea.” He points to the horizon and many eyes follow as he continues, “Lupa’Jin was a sailor who went on grand adventures by crossing the sea and even though she is not physically here with us, I am sure that her spirit watches us from the Sea itself.”

“When we refer to Lupa during this ceremony,” he continues, “I am sure that she will be overjoyed that we also refer to the sea. I have known Lupa’Jin since the very beginning, even before I formed the now gone Frostwolf Brotherhood, and during that time I had always seen enthusiasm and grandeur in her. She never allowed herself to be put down and always lived life to the fullest by assisting her guild, the Nether Council, and anyone who needed help or a companion. I am sure that many of you present have similar things to say about Lupa and I am sure that she will be honored to hear them from the Great Sea. Anyone who wishes to say any words is welcome to come up.”

Brokenaxe speaks up, “I would like ta speak mate.” Brokenaxe moves forward and Brakogar kneels with the rest of us as Brokenaxe continues, “When ah was alone wandrin aimlessly, jah offa’d me a home and for dat I am foreva in jah debt. I’m commin out to jaw! Here I come!” Brokenaxe yells and dives into the sea.

Able says, “Yep. He’s lost it.”

Wolfkin replies, “Water will cool his thoughts, we need not worry.”

Rudrah moves forward, gathering some water from the waves between his hands and speaks, “You were the tides that brought laughter and joy to us. May the Earthmother grant you the rest someone of your valor deserves. I bless you, Lupa…Good travel.” Rudrah stares down, a tear flowing down his cheek into the sea.

Brakogar goes to him and pats him gently on the back, “I am sure that she is blessed and heard you, friend. Your blessings have reached her beyond the Mortal realm, Rudrah.

Chum puts his hands to his lips and kisses them, then touches his hand to the ground and mumbles, “thank you for your voice, may you rest, may your rest…”

Kittsu’s eyes water even within her cheetah form, and Danlily sobs silently.

Zusteakai takes his turn to remember Lupa, “Lupa, I hold you in the highest respects, always have. I remember hunting with you, and I remember battles in which we fought together in Ashenvale. I will miss you, friend.”

Rudrah looks at the dusk in the horizon as Brakogar turns to Zusteakai, “I am sure that she heard you and all of us. Even those who remain silent are still being heard as emotions speak a lot more than words.

Ayashe nods to Brakogar. Desmonda cries on Kithmar’s shoulder. Kithmar gently pats Desmonda.

Torq speaks up, “I would like to say a few words…”

Brakogar replies, “Please do.”

Torq moves to the top of the half circle and faces all gathered. Able cheers Torq on as Oola chokes back tears. Morongo kneels down as Danlily and Desmonda look on in tears. “Many months ago,” Torq begins, “Oola and I had the good fortune to meet Lupa. From the very beginning we formed a bond of friendship. She grew to become one of our very best friends in these lands. Seems like just yesterday. She was always the most helpful of troll, and always with a smile on her face and a gleam in her eye.”

“Always had to keep a chew toy in my pocket for Tempest, I did,” adds Oola.

”As Citadel grew from a small guild to the numbers we have today, “Torg continues, “the job of administering the guild grew as well, and Lupa stepped up right away and represented us nobly to the Nether Council and the other guilds of Azeroth. She was the finest officer I had, the best of friends, and always a voice of reason and optimism. I miss her terribly and always will, but I am also filled with hope that she will find happiness in the world outside our world. Citadel, please stand and cheer for a brave and loyal companion who is now lost to us, but will always stay in our hearts.”

Oola says, “Aye, she will be missed by us all. I know she is looking down upon us and keeping a watchful eye for us all.”

Torg shouts, “FOR LUPA!”

Cheers are heard from Kithmar, Rudrah, Pylor, Voorgad, and Wolfkin. Ayashe stands at attention and salutes. Cheering continues with Desmonda, Oola, Cyrass, Lockoff, Chum and Able. Danlily continues to sob as Oola fills a crystal vial of sea water, holding it close to her heart.

Brakogar says, “Thank you Torg, your words have been carried in the wind to Lupa.”
Zusteakai lowers his head a bit, catching himself he quickly stands up, his back straight, and salutes the Great Sea.

Brakogar continues, “As Torg mentioned, Lupa was a great supporter of the Nether Council. The Council would not be what it is today without her and we are all very thankful for her.” Mortica, kneeling close to Karkarov, nods in agreement to Brakogar. Brakogar continues, “Karkarov, as leader of the Council, would you like to say some words?”

Karkarov responds, “Hmm…very well.”

Brakogar encourages, “Please come up.”

Karkarov nods and comes forward and begins, “I met Lupa many months ago. It was on the field of battle south of the stunty lands of Loch Modan. There she led a force of Citadel members…some of you here may have been in that party.” Pylor nods at Karkarov. Karkarov continues, “That is where I met her and still see her in my mind’s eye. She was a valiant and steadfast ally in battle, a loyal and strong companion, and a scourge of death to her enemies!”

More joined the memorial as Morongo, Morganis and Emptysoul kneel. Mistress Clys arrives and sits amongst the mourners. Grisch joins them as Karkarov continues, “She fought that day in supporting the cause of the horde, and fell in combat defending our claims while in Grom Gol. She left this world a hero to the horde, dieing for our just cause! I only hope we all pass into the Nether with such honor and dignity!”

Ayashe and Desmonda nod in agreement with Karkarov as he finishes, “She may be fallen, but we all know she will not be forgotten.”

As Kararov takes his place beside Lady Mortica, she beams proudly at him. Karkarov grins wickedly at Mortica. Brakogar returns to the position of speaker, “Karkarov speaks the absolute truth. Lupa in death has reached something that the living craves. As long as we remember her she will live in our souls and that has made her immortal. Now we shall say our final good byes.”

Brakogar continues, “To the Lupa we knew as flesh and blood and embrace the immortality that Lupa’Jin has reached through her actions in life. Before we go I ask one more thing of all of you.” Brakogar picks up some sand and pricks his finger and allows some of the blood to drip into it. “I shall take this part of our world which now contains my essence and some of my tears to the sea.”

The gathered prick their fingers, offering their essence into their handfuls of sand and they all approach the sea. Brakogar says, “Lupa is now a part of the sea as is our feelings for her.”

Clys says, “There will never be another, Lupa’Jin.”

Brakogar says, “Every time we travel across this sea, she will guide us with her spirit and we shall remember for all eternity.” Desmonda and Danlily break down into more tears.

Clys dumps a vial of blood into the waters, seeming to hold special significance, saying “This mixture, which only you could produce, also now belongs to you, Lupa. May you hunt forever.”

Brakogar continues, “I thank you all and I am sure that Lupa’Jin does also. Thank you friends, for attending this memorial.”

((Thank you Danlily. You have captured the event perfectly in this post and the pictures are great. I am sure that everyone who could not attend the memorial apreciates this))

I just got off the phone with a friend who plays Izar of Citadel. He told me about this memorial service so I logged on here to check it out.

I'm speechless. Really.

I had no idea Lupa had that many friends in game. Certainly I never considered her significant enough to be deserving of such a magnificent memorial! I am deeply humbled and you all have my endless gratitude. (sniff..)

By looking at Danlily's superb screenshots I can see pretty much everyone who was in attendance. Its wonderful to know that each and every one of you has a special story we shared at some point in Lupa's career. Some like Torg and Oola I will miss probably more than they realize. Citadel was a tight family in those early days and we had a ton of silly lowbie fun together..

I can't say for sure what the future holds. But rest assured that although Lupa might be gone her player will still strive to be a participant in some fashion in this excellent community called Twisting Nether. Although it will most be sporatic at best.

Once again. Thank You all and bless you!

((Awww! I never get invited to the good stuff. Lupa was one of 'Brig's five friends outside his guild. I should've known something cool was going down when I saw Brak the other day. Sorry I wasn't there for this. I've tried to write a goodbye from 'Brig a couple times now and keep gettin' choked up and stopping halfway through.))

((I didn't know that you were a friend of Lupa or otherwise I would have considered inviting you. On the other hand the memorial was a Nether Council Hosted event and since you IC have spoken so openly against it, it would have been strange to invite Malebrignon (perhaps Grooda would have been a better choice but dont know how she relates to Lupa).

The Nether Council holds RP/RP-PvP events every so often but these days we are more careful when announcing them in order to avoid 'mistakes' from the past so some go unnoticed by outsiders as they are not publicly announced but it is not unheard of for a few outsiders to be invited into events.

Isnt Malebrignon part of a similar organisation to the Council, the Nether Circle? I thought that they held their own events involving their member guilds too.

Actualy I have not heard anything from the Circle in a long time, is it still functioning or just publicly unannounced?))

((Lupa and 'Brig actually go back quite a bit. Back to the formative days of the Nether Council before the desicion to remove Decimate from its ranks. Still, they maintained an open lines of communications and spoke from time to time.

It was Lupa who found his beloved paddle ball that he lost in Brill after learning the news of the departure of Maledictus. That ball was returned to him during a chance meeting between the two in Stonard.

Ever since the two have spoken off and on, outside of any official guild or 'Council' affiliation. Lupa admired the Lich's self confidence and mental focus. They fought side by side in the Battle of Arathi Highlands on the Thandol Span..

Lupa's spirit would most assuredly visit the Lich's dreams from time to time, if indeed he does dream. Just as his presence did during Lupa's imprisonment and torture at the hands of the Blackfang Corsairs.))

((A shame I did not know of this before the Memorial or I would have invited Malebrignon despite his views of the Council as the memorial was about Lupa'Jin's life. If Malebrignon was a part of Lupa's life then he had every right to be there.))
