View Full Version : UD Plague Chronology Question

I've written an RP piece for an UD character of mine. I've woven her into the release of the scourge that was done via the tainted grain/food.

Writing this has brought up a couple of questions.

Was Brill named Brill before the plague? Much the same for Andorhal and any other town, landmarks on or near the Tirisfal map. I'm assuming that the names have remained the same.

What were the Eastern and Western Plaguelands called before the plague?

Is the storyline I'm using plausible enough that a local were to have been poisoned with the plague-tainted food and to have some time later resurrected at Deathnell as a thinking Forsaken?

Brill has always been Brill, as have all of the other towns and cities (Though I'm pretty sure Deathknell wasn't the previous name for the starting zone) EPL and WPL were previously not two distinct areas, though a large portion of it was called "Darrowmere Forest" prior to the Plague, named after the lake between the two zones. The entirety of the area of the Plaguelands, Tirisfal, and Silverpine were considered the kingdom of Lordaeron. I'm not sure whether or not the Hillsbrad area also fell under Lordaeron control, since they are closer in proximity to the city-state of Dalaran.

That should answer your questions though. And Deathknell seems to be the place where those infected that had not yet risen were brought to be burned, as per the initial encounter with the gravedigger that you speak with upon "awakening". It's believable to say that even had you been killed somewhere farther than Brill, your body would have been brought to Deathknell for burning. Though note that considering the length of time between the Plague of Undeath and now, you'd be considered something of a "late riser"

Though I do not recall it being mentioned, I see no reason why Brill would have been renamed post-plague. Andorhal was Andorhal. The only things that would have had a "new" name since the plague/Scourge would be the plaguelands, as they weren't all that plagued before. ;)

As to what they were called...I dunno offhand.
The Scarlet Monastery was just a library. Whatever that place is called in Northern WPL (the Crusade's base) may have been there before, but for a different purpose (since the Scarlet Crusade came about because of the plague). Considering the farms in WPL, the plaguelands may have simply been farmlands.

Edit: Seems I type a tad slower than Keraph here.

A lot of this makes me wish I had paid closer attention while I was leveling in Brill. May have to roll another UD to recapture some of the lore that comes out during the questing in Tirisfal and Silverpine.

Thanks to the both of you for the clarifications.

Late-riser comment, what would be the normal reason now for resurrecting as a Forsaken?

Late-riser comment, what would be the normal reason now for resurrecting as a Forsaken?

More recent death from the Scourge and subsequent breaking. Most likely candidates would be someone from the Scarlet Crusade or the Argent Dawn, as they have the highest numbers of living humans still in the Lordaeron area. However, don't let this limit you. Anything is possible, within reason, even just freeing yourself from the grasp of the Lich King later than most. In fact, I imagine that with the number of Forsaken in existence, there may be ways to 'forcibly' free members of the Scourge into becoming free-willed Forsaken, though there is no mention of this to my knowledge as of yet.

This makes me think of a random question, When/if Arthas is killed in the expansion would that mean all the remaining scourge would have their own free will again or would all the undead crumble without the power of the lich king to keep them going?

I would be leaning towards the first option seeing as that's how most of the forsaken came into existence in the first place, when the lich king was losing power from the crack in the frozen throne. Though I suppose it is possible that the Forsaken are just leeching the power from the lich king that was used to raise them now, and without that power still in the world they could crumble back to death.

So the way I see it either the Horde is going to lose a whole race from their play list or they are going to have a massive influx of Forsaken npcs when all the undead "wake up"

Expansion 3: Rise of the Forsaken?

Yay I finally get to kill all the RP griefers who hang around in Org? Yeah, a third faction would be pretty awesome... hehe. But, the massive influx could give some opporunity for the Horde to start making some more corpses once they find out how efficient Undeath is... Hehe.

*Brill has always been Brill.
*EP and WPL were part of the kingdom of lorderan, along with tirisfal glades.
*Yes, in between the time's you were scourge.

If I recall correctly, on older maps, Brill was located much further south than it is. Along the path Arthas traveled from Hillsbrad Foothills to Stratholme, in fact. Understand the map was changed alot in WoW, but relocating a city seemed a bit silly, so it could be that Brill was destroyed, and that is simply New Brill.

P.s Sorry for ressurecting this dead-ish topic.

I want to say Hearthglen extended farther than just the little area to the north in WPL. I believe that the area of Hearthglen was all of WPL, and Andorhal was a town in it.

In Older Maps, Hillsbrad was it's own Kingdom.

Maps are retconned.
