"It's sex and violence. Whoever heard of sex and diplomacy?"
Tucker--RVB
In WoW, How do you deal with love, relations and over gored violence?
I use a roll system or attack and defend.
IE
/e Launches a shadow bolt alt %t's toros, grinning as the bolt shifts to take the apperance of an Adder, shadow fangs glistenin gas it homes in on its target
The person then can get hit or can dodge, resist, whatever.
What annoys me is when people dodge out of ridiculous situations.
IE
/e thrust her hand into your back from her embrace, the flames searing through %t's cloth robe, burning the flesh
Had people dodge that...
but meh...
For "Mom and Dad time"...Can't believe I wrote that...
I use a moment of Passion and leave it there. For many reasons.
by moment of passion,....
/e is taken by a moment of passion with %t and succumbs to his/her lust
And painting the town a crimson red FTW!

What I EMed was a shadow bolt and a searing pain. I just throw my artistic flair on them.
All her shadow spells are taking the form of seprents

This scenario sounds completely reasonable to me. Giving both characters equal opportunity to react and participate in a way that fits their character and accomodates their character's storylines.

My two cents on this scenario, and I admit this may not be the popular opinion:
If you attempt something that would result in events that would change a characters storyline, and they have not expressed that they are ok with it, then you should be prepared to deal with them coming up with some way to get out of it or to ignore it.
Why?
I would say in most cases it is not because they are belittling your RP or being poor sports or being selfish. Usually it's because they have countless other ongoing storylines, often involving other characters, that they are also trying to keep in order.
For instance... Liadain is currently married to Celethorn and pregnant with twins. ANYTHING effecting her and her children is not just part of my storyline, but also part of Celethorn's, Morghoul's, etc. Thus, I would be loathe to have anything happen to them without thinking it through. Walking through SW and having them inexplicably destroyed by a random person just wouldn't do the storyline justice.
Similarly, Lia recently had a well-intentioned paladin try to restore her missing finger. Now, most of you know the volumes of written and in-game plot that went into the loss of that finger. Her finger is actually still around, somewhere, reanimated and she actually has a friend working on a mechanical replacement. Thus, I decided not to have the paladin's effort work. NOT because I didn't value the RP, but because there were a million reasons for it not to work in the context of Lia's storyline.
Anyway... I'll stop babbling now, but I just throught I'd throw that in... ;)

You made Toppe cry...
But, I try to remember to ask, or I state my actions first
IE
"You there....child...I want your hands.."
Then, from there, they can accept or refuse.
And I belive a priest can repair the wounds, like, for example a burn, a gash ETC.
But, if som eone refuses, lets say, Shiggy taking htere hands, Shig gives a last ditch effort and I let em go.
Like Jade anted her hands, so I called Serline off early, so as to let her get away.
Shiggy has some odd obsession over hands...

I'm not real overly protective of my characters, so I'll play a long with quite a bit, because it usually makes for interesting storylines or character development. For me, my reaction would depend mostly on who's doing the action. If it's some random person I don't know and have no history with, and he tries to rip off my character's arm just for fun, then I'd do anything to /em my way out of it, and maybe end up with a sprained or broken arm instead of no arm. If Syreena tries to pickpocket Abric, and he cuts off her hand, I'd be playing a one handed rogue. If the amulet Chavie gave her to protect her from a curse turns out to be an evil trick and instead of protecting her, it turns out to make her feel compelled to protect the Scourge, I'd play along with it. As long as there's a reason for it, or it's part of a storyline, and it makes sense that the character could do that, I'd accept it. If it was done by a RPer I trust, I'd accept it even if I don't know the storyline or motivation behind it.
As far as intimacy goes, I usually did the "moment of passion" thing too in my old game. We called it vapor gaming--we know it happened, but we didn't actually RP it. That was a good way to have things happen without wasting time playing it out, or for scenes that some players involved might not be comfortable with. Not that I expect to be in any romantic type situations with an ugly undead Syreena. :)

You made Toppe cry...
I know. >.< And Lia, of course, wanted it to work but given the number of people that tried to restore it after the whole thing happened, she didn't get her hopes up. ;)

To me, this instantly brings to mind godmodding.
You should always give other players the choice to avoid/accept anything you're doing to their character, even if it might be unreasonable under normal circumstances.

for violence, I usually just intimidate them, though when it comes to actual force I do use emotes or Barrage.
For sex, well Turens too mad all the time to put up with women so I haven't handles that in game since around lvl 20, when I started an actual story arc.

I do my best to not God mod...
But when people constantly dodge....
Like after 20 or so melee strikes, or shadow bolts...
What would you do?
Hence why the searing pain quote came up..all though, in hindsight, should have used the other example, which was her just placing her hand on some one, while doing a sadistic grin
