"...a farmers son!?" One man says loudly to another.
"Sir, I just know it." The other man says back, in a calm tone.
"Benedictus, you cannot expect me to believe that..." the man, with a flustered look, points over at a small blonde boy, half-hiding behind a taller dark haired boy. "...THAT is filled with the Light!!"
Archbishop Benedictus looks back, giving the small boy a calming smile, then turning his now stern gaze back to the man. "Sir, I know he.." The man quickly cuts him off. "He isn't even born with the gift of the Light!" Benedictus takes a step forward, visibly trying to keep his calm demeanor. "Must you forgot that I was also born without the gift of the Light, Sir? But do I not stand before you as the Archbishop of the Cathedral of Light?" Benedictus turns and signals a squire. "Please, get these two boys cleaned up and something to eat. Quickly."
Just after the boys leave the room, Benedicus signals a guard standing at the door. The guard nods, leaving the room and quickly returning with a very battle-worn looking man. He walks up to the alter, standing weakly next to the Archbishop. Benedictus rests a hand on the man's shoulder... "Please, tell him what you told me in Moonbrook." The man looks up, taking a gulp before speaking. "W-well...Th-the orcs came. They came fr-from everywhere. Just started to....kill ev-everyone. I was st-stuck under two bodies, and then I s-saw it. Bless the Light, it was a mi-miracle. A small boy from the t-town, Venrix. He was with his older brother. They were su-surrounded by orcs when he did it." The man's eyes widen, as if he was truly blessed with what he saw. "He exploded with the Light."
The Archbishop smiles, signaling to the guard to take him to eat with the boys. He looks back at the man. "This boy -is- a descendant of the Clerics of Northshire, and he will help bring peace to this world.
