Just vote for where would be most convenient for you, also, where you'd like to see the con.

EDIT: Oh, hell, I broke it, hang on.

EDIT2: Can I get a sticky on this, for a bit?

Edit3 by Mort: added a few more options :P

As much fun as it sounds like, Danlily and I travelling isn't going to happen. Heck we don't even like to go to the store. And, we're in Washington state, which is far from everywhere. :)

Damn, I would have voted for Vegas if it was up then. Take on eaway from Chicago and place it in the Vegas column for me, please.

as much as i'd like to vote for texas, as, well, i live there... i realize that only the people that are in texas would want it to be here, and that most northerners regard it in a similar fashion as a cancer patient... you know it's not harmful to you, but you still don't really want to touch it. (not to mean any offense to anybody, i promise... just the best example i can think of.)

so yeah... my vote then is for chicago... because that's the easiest to drive to option for me (aside from atlanta, but same deal there as texas) that makes you yanks happy. =P

PS: a few myths to dispell:
1. not every place in texas plays country music, especially in cities.
2. it'll be february... and as warm as it may be down here, we do have winter... which means that there won't be bugs, and it won't be in the 90's
3. the vast majority of the population does not, in fact, use livestock as means of transportation.
4. not everyone has a hick accent... a lot do, but not everyone.
5. yes, there is a lot of white trash and many non-english-speaking illegals here, but they generally keep to the rural areas.
6. well actually, there is no 6... but you get the picture.

all i'm saying is... i don't actually think that all canadians say eh, that all new englanders are snobs, and that everyone from boston has a horrible nasal accent... because i know better than to pay attention to silly prejudices :P

I would consider Texas, despite it's distance from where I'm at because a LOT of my guild lives there, and I could probably do two meet-n-greets in one :)

Me and Brakogar are gonna have our own convention in a pub somewhere.

Actually, it'll just be me

By myself.

At Robot probably.

See Blizzard, this is why we need Oceanic servers, so I can make friends in my own timezone dammit!

Anyways ... I didn't vote since I won't be going (obviously), but if I were going, I'd vote somewhere central -- if most people have to travel, then I'd rather everyone travel an equal distance to make it fair. Just my 2 cents. Er, can I have that 2 cents back? I'm really broke ...

Uhm, Gloom, there -are- Oceanic servers.

But all the guys there are tall and slim and wear tight jeans, cowboy boots, and cowboy hats, right? RIGHT??? If you tell me that's a myth too, you will take away all desire I ever had to visit Texas.

I voted Vegas, even though it's far away. But I think it would be fun, and I've never been there. I don't really care where it is though.

I like how the Florida option actually lists amusement parks in the area *cough* Morticia *cough*

Just doing some fast searching I have to say please god not vegas. After price shopping with an assumed date of feb 1st 2007 and a return date of feb 3rd it cost me more to go there by at least 20 dollars to anywhere else, and it would be a flight with at least two plane switches meaning 3 hours of sitting in an airport minimum. Not my idea of fun.

Right now I will say chicago looks like the easiest place for me to get a flight based on this hypothetical situation. But I dont like it because while it is placed centrally (almost) east to west, it is not placed centrally north to south.

Right now I am voting... Atlanta. But this may change.

PS: I would be fine with Orlando too, at least it has fun cool things to do besides sitting in a room with alot of people from the TNG. But then there is the similar location arguement as with Chicago. But in retrospect it has been decades since I was at a good theme park.... hmmm.

As I've said in another post, it doesn't matter where it is, I will make an effort to get there.

Edit after reading the post above: *Pro-Vegas stuff removed* *Everything Xeran thinks is wrong about Vegas*

I'm wondering if maybe we would qualify for a "group rate" at a hotel? Anyone know anything about this? We tell them it's the Twisting Nether Gazette Convention and see if we can get a block of rooms at a hotel. When we call, we need to be surprised and a little ticked off that they've never heard of us. "You've never heard of THE Twisting Nether Gazette!? Cretin!! Get me your manager! He's about to get Rhowned!!" :)

What? You'd have to ESCAPE to dreary, boring Disney World just to let yourself recover from the heart-pounding, thrill-a-minute rollercoaster ride that is the TNG Con!!

(Now THAT'S marketing!)

*cough* yes *cough*

lol... this one is actually true. i'd say a large portion of texan men (excluding myself) wear tight jeans and cowboy boots. and while hats are usually for special occasions, they do wear them.

Nothing wrong with a nice hat but lets stay on topic ;p. Notice also how he said nothing about the slim part.

Actually I am thinking Orlando as a good idea though I will likely be disliked :p. Simply because it (god forbid) makes it easy for the person who runs and pays for this site we are having a con about in the first place. And yes there is alot of stuff to do there besides sitting in a room larp'ing and playing D&D. Note that larp'ing isnt fun anyway.

Live Action Role-Play is actually a lot of fun when done with the right people and a good storyteller. Out of about 100 LARP games under my belt, less than 5 meet that qualification, so I'll agree with you there, Kark.

I chose Vegas. I was already planning a vacation there and I know there's several of us that'd like to see Avenue Q while we're there. However, I've got a soft-spot for the South, so Texas, Orlando, and Atlanta all sound good to me, too.

Atlanta has theme park action, too. Six Flags over Atlanta. It's the Six Flags graveyard. Every ride that has ever caused Six Flags a lawsuit gets moved to that park. Z-Force, Drop Zone, and Great Gasp were there last time I went, not sure if their stand-up coaster from St. Louis got moved there.

LARP is short-term for "AbricOOC is going to beat you up when you try to talk to him like you are your character - unless it is meant to be funny."

Keep in mind - whatever location you pick; pick it for the THINGS to do. Unless we are all getting drunk/high/having sex... sitting around in a room isn't that exciting.

... and I'm in the Navy. So the drugs are out, WOO!!!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I picked Orlando. In Feb, it will be a moderate temperature... and there are things to *do* there. Damnit, I want to go to Medieval Times! Mortica!!!!

Florida eh? It just occured to me that my parents will be renting another condo in florida for about 1.5 months next year (Feb/mar). I just can't remember where in florida it was. That would save me money on a room (assuming it's close to orlando).

They've been bugging me the last couple years to come down there and spend a week. I never understood that though. I work with my dad, see my mom 3+ times a week just from helping out at their house occasionally. Do you really miss me that much that you need me to come down there for a week? Perhaps they're just bored of eachother by then... :P

So I guess I'm voting for florida. Better be some hotties down there! 8)

Not that I'll get to go.. but either Chicago, since all flights to or from the northeast get routed to Chicago anyway, or Atlanta, since I used to live there and know the city well.

Hmm. I'm not sure I would make it to one of these. I tend to hate traveling...anywhere. Partly because I don't like driving places but mostly because I like the little town I'm in.

So I wish you all good luck with your event!

Also, I'll give the poll a few more days, then we can make a new one about attendance and some schtick.

Eh, I would vote, but since I'll be moving within the next four months and still don't know where I'm going, I don't know where would be better. But if I were voting it would be for Chicago, because, well I could team TNGCon with a few other WoW meet and greets.

Chingaso hear of place in Texas call San Antonio de Bexar. Chingaso hear of much activity for visitor, much place of comfort shelter and much goodness of eat. Chingaso say this place worth serious of consider.

Also, Chingaso know of guide this place.

But you southerners could all see snow!

Chingaso see enough snow when visit brother in Jersey before brother move back Texas. Chingaso say snow over rate. Chingaso say snow cold.

Hmm...Chicago is just 8 hours away. I've never been to Boston. Those two were tempting, but we are talking February. I live in Iowa. If I travel anywhere in February, it's going to be someplace WARM! Vegas got my vote. (I'll be in Florida next month for 2 weeks...one trip a year to see the parents is enough)

Then again, the last time I was in Vegas they had a record cold snap and over an inch of snow for the first time in 20 years. 8O

Rhowen-Prea

SHHH NO TALKING ABOUT COLD WEATHER. You people who wanted to have it in a few months, in Chicago that'd put you in the hottest time of year, here, with over-100-degrees heat NOT factoring in the deadly humidity.

Winter > Summer.

Also, Your time to vote is almost run out! There'll be a new poll on Tuesday with the winning Location!

I voted for Vegas, because as well know it's the real life version of Booty Bay. What happens in Booty Bay, stays in Booty Bay...except if you're a bastard Hunter that tags the opposing faction and then uses Feign Death to escape the wrath of the casino guards. Bastard. From then on, you are KoS, even outside of Las Veg-...err...Booty Bay. Now I've got the two confused.

I vote Texas. Yes I live here but... I am willing to drive to Austin to make it perfect. Economically speaking, Texas is a full service station.
