*HIJACKS THE FORUM HAHAHAHAH* You guys broke the last one. Rules are simple.
Artist - Title
Steely Dan - Dirty Work
EDIT by MORT:
Don't hijack. Don't critique (minor ok, if accompanied by music). If you don't post music, you get minus 50 tngP for making me mod on a thread that shouldn't need moderation, and your post will get removed.
Brig edit: Please list both the artist and the title of the song. Some of us would like to know what we're getting ourselves into before we click a link. Example: GWAR. I love GWAR. I love their videos. I know not to click on them if there's an 8-year-old in the room. A little warning is always appreciated and an easy enough courtesy to extend to your fellow music enthusiasts.
Thanks!
M.

Ekova - In The Garden.
(Ask me about Ekova.)
* doesn't bother asking Rho cos she never returns messages :P *
From Six Degrees Records (http://www.sixdegreesrecords.com/artists.php?artist=Ekova):
What's in a name? In the case of Ekova, quite a lot. This French-based trio - which doesn't contain a single Frenchman, by the way - draws its name from a word coined by American-born singer Dierdre Dubois. "Its roots are in echo, and ova, signifying the feminine side," she explains. "But it's not supposed to have a literal meaning, just a beautiful sound. I wanted a word I'd never heard before." In that sense, the name Ekova perfectly represents what the band does. Dierdre Dubois has taken a page from the Cocteau Twins book and created her own improvised language, a kind of multicultural glossolalia that is as mysterious as it is musical. "I don't understand it all myself," she acknowledges. "It just comes out by itself. But I like that sense of mystery about it." The other two members of Ekova, Iranian percussionist Arach Khalatbari and Algerian guitar/lute player Mehdi Haddab, have invented a musical language to match. Inspired by many of the world's music traditions without literally drawing on them, Ekova has created a sound that is at once elusive but familiar.
Awesome, thanks for sharing Rho. <3

Ahh yes. That was a great song. In fact, it's the only good thing to come from Batman Returns. I believe it was the first video after Corgan went crazy and shaved his head due to the rest of the band having injected too much Heroin (and boy do they look like it in that video)

Dare's one of the better tracks on Demon Days. You can really tell how Noodle's english has improved since the self-titled release (Or as we call her, Miss Satori).
I still think M1A1 from their first CD is one of my favorites though (And I won both G-Sides and Spacemonkeys vs. Gorillaz CD's that came after and before Demon Days).
In the end, I'll agree with Ian McConville, that Demon Days was really too short of a CD to push it to greatness. The Band--if it can be called that--has gone to take a break for an indefinite period.
You're next. Make a thread.

And, now, for something a little offbeat.
Looking over my playlists, I found that SoaD's songs fall into four categories: political criticism, spiritual reflections, the Armenian Genocide, and drugs.
So, I compiled a list on the last category (all that include lyrics about drug use, the corruption due to drug money, and songs that had to have been written under the influence of drugs), and I've been listening to them, all by System of a Down.
Sugar, Ddevil, Soil, Peephole, Prison Song, Needles, Bounce, Psycho, Cigaro, Revenga, This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song, Old School Hollywood, Kill Rock N' Roll, Stealing Society, Viscinity of Obscenity, and She's Like Heroin.
Missing stuff from Steal This Album!, but that's enough for now.

The Arcade Fire - Wake Up
From whence I get my sig. *points to quote in signature* YouTube has an excellent video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0Ff8dd5iV0) of this song performed live with David Bowie. The full quote is "Children, wake up.. Hold your mistake up, before they turn the summer into dust. If children don't grow up, our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up. We're just a million little gods sending rainstorms, turning every good thing to rust. I guess we'll just have to adjust."
Fitting for Chavie on many levels. *sentimental*
Mild thread hijack, but if you ever get to see these folks live, DO IT. DO NOT HESITATE. I saw them last spring, I think, in one of my favorite little spots in Columbus before I moved. It was the single best show of my life, and I've been to a lot of shows. I was physically speechless when I left the club. My mouth actually would not work. And before I went to the show I was actually a little lukewarm about the album.
I know it all sounds like hyperbole, but it's not. I have never seen six people work so hard on anything before in my life.

Nojinbu and I discovered this band while searching for "epic metal" to play WoW to. I saw Hammerfall and thought "Hm, that's a coincidence..." and listened.
My. God. It's WoW music, pure and simple. It's as if characters from WoW were singing. To BAD ASS METAL! 8O

HammerFall is named that by the Orcs because it's where the Warchief died.
It's real name, the name Durnholde gave to it when it was an Internment camp, is lost.

Title: Shoot.
Artist: Tomokazu Seki.
Haha. I listen to lots of Japanese music, where voice actors from anime release specific vocal tracks based on their characters. Not something you tend to see in American cartoons, but there's a huge integration between anime and the music industry in Japan I think.
This song is from Gundam Seed, by the voice actor of Yzak Jule.
