View Full Version : TN VS. Other RP servers?

How do we match up with other RP servers? I mean as a community. This being my first RP server and having only RP'd for a relatively short time, I don't know much about how the other servers are.

Are we more active as a community? Less active? Do other servers have a great website like ours to secure all this great RP? Is the griefing really that bad here compared to other servers?

Or just make some general statements about the RP of TN. Just curious to see what others think.

I'm not looking to move, just wondering how we score (if that makes sense).

Oh, and take the poll!

I like this place better than all of the other servers I've been on. With the exception of when the server was so laggy that I had to go to a PVP server (*shudder*), I've been here for almost a year, now.

I recently visited my old PvP server to say hi to some old friends that still play there. I needed a shower and some innoculations afterwards. After seeing the jacktard names, putting up with the beggars and listening to local defense: civility-wise, TN rocks.

PvP: we could use some work. Don't get me wrong, I will not be posting PvP waaah thread anytime soon (unless I want Morticia hunting me down to stab me) but battlegrounds AND world PvP both seem lacking at times. The lack of world PvP, I blame more on the DHKs than anything. My tune may change as I advance into the 60s bracket.

PvE: I don't care that much. I've never rated a server by the number of groups that could complete Molten Core.

RP: This is my first RP server, but I do play Horde-side on Emerald Dream (look up Kwarh, tauren druid if you're on). I think RP here rocks (Alliance side anyway ... sounds like the Horde here are better than what I've experienced on ED thus far).

Better or worse - it's where I play and so I try to make it the best.

Of course... it really drains a lot out of you without the 110% backing of Blizzard's staff to keep the "santity" of a roleplaying environment; but beggars can't be choosers.

Thanks for the invitation to rant, Castor!

TN isn't the best of the RP servers I've seen as far as a majority of the population RPing. I have no idea what it's like now, but I spent several weeks on Lightninghoof after it launched and the RP there was pretty overwhelming. It really felt like everyone there was RPing. Then I remembered that TN felt a lot like that when it first launched. Sure enough, RP dwindled there just like it did here.

However, TN may not have the largest RP population, but it has the most adaptable one that I've seen. I'm constantly seeing folks that didn't RP when they started here getting more and more involved in RP scenarios. We have so many infectious players that make you WANT to RP with them. Add to that the fact that we have a lot more "dark" RP than previouse servers I've experienced. Very few folks seem interested in "getting along" or "making peace" with the opposite faction and that suits me just fine.

Is TN the "Best" RP server? Nope. But only because the "Best" RP server would be the one with a greater RP to Non-RP ratio, and RPers are very much a minority on this server. Is TN the best server for ME? You bet your sweet bippy it is!

TN kept me from cancelling my WoW account last August.

TN keeps me feeding Blizzard my hard-earned dollars.

While you dont see a whole lot of random RP on TN, I garuntee that you won't find a better community on any other server. I mean look at us, all of the RPers have come together on this wonderful site, not only to RP with each other, but get to know each other better OOC too. On my alt server, Thorium Brotherhood, you see a lot of open RP in game, but there is nothing remotley close to an RP community. No RP organizations, no RP website, and not a whole lot of RP alliances going on. And to me, community is more important than anything else as far as RP goes. I <3 TN and its the reason why I've stayed with WoW and stuck so long- the people on TN are amazing and I wouldn't trade em for the world! =D

I have played on over half a dozen other servers. Atleast half of those RP. I play on TN, not them. Not much else to say.

Any server without a military guild of drunken violent dwarves is a server I don't want to be a part of!

I'll go out on a limb here and guarantee you that you won't find a better RP community in WoW than on this server. I've played on a lot of RP servers, and I've noticed that when a new RP server comes out, there's a major influx of RP on said server, but it doesn't seem to have a lot of lasting power after a few weeks. No RP server can brag to have such an active community as us. Granted, we're a minority, but that's the case with every server (Even pure-RP servers :( ) and WoW...nay, video games in general. We've adapted to that, and created this 'hive' from which RP flows and is encouraged. Suffice to say that I have no complaints!

I've oddly enough seen quite a resurgence on RP awareness recently. While I have nothing to reference this server to, it's my first RP server, the people on the TNG are amazing and will keep me here long after I'm drooling on myself and ranting about bewbies.

I do think we should ride this wave and make it even better though. Get more people into it. Make more people aware. The more Rp grows here, the more dedicated Rpers we'll attract. Eventually this should reach critical mass and begin a snowball effect of rp that sends the griefers gibbering into their closets.
