Vigilance taken.

Darkness does what it is made to do. It's nature unpredictable, but yet predictable all at the same. Changing, concealing, shifting, and encompasing everything where there is no light. It consumes everything it can, but its gifts are bestowed upon those who welcome the night and its veil of shadow. The children of night are treated well under the guide of the shadow.

But what about when day comes? What happens when the light comes and forces the darkness to only rule those dark crevices and cracks? Darkness only exists during day where light can't penetrate. Darkness can only be so powerful. The children hide to their safety, for if caught in the light the servants of the opposing force- That of light -would surely have their way. The children of light and shadow are at a constant standoff.

But with the rising sun, the children hide. They only hide knowing that soon, another time, night will come again, and the reign of the children of the darkness will continue, at least until the sun comes again. Every child of Shadow rests in the day, away from the light, only knowing that one again the the Shadow will come again to protect, conceal, and empower its children under its guide.

He is resting. For him, it is day, not night. He thought that hopefully the letter he left would explain more. It is a time for hiding. A time for rest. A time to think and be alone. It was a time for growth, and meditation. A bat needs its cave. A snake needs its hole. A wolf needs its den.

A priest needs his sanctuary.
