So...do you guys vote for your own stories or someone elses or none? I'm interested to see if I get any votes (doubtful when competeing against you who write more and much better than I, heh). Just curious how authors vote.

Sometimes I vote for my own stuff, sometimes I don't. I try to read all the stories, especially catching up on Tuesdays, and then I vote for whichever one got me the most excited. I remember a few weeks ago, I voted for something Lupa did, even though my own story had no votes at all. 'Cuz trolls R Hawt!!!!

Well since I've had massive writers block, at least when it has come to WoW rp (good news my book is about 75 pages from finished), I don't vote for my stuff, if I see something that I like better. In fact, come to think of it, I don't think I have ever voted for my own.

I've never voted and just posted my first RP this week so I don't really know. I don't see myself voting for myself though. Just doesn't seem right. I'll probably just not vote if I have something up there.

I vote for the person with the most vowels in their name.
But seriously ...
I vote for the story I like best, whoever wrote it. I have yet to post a story so voting for my own is a non-issue at this point. When I do post, and I will, I don't think I'll vote for my stuff. Either I'll abstain or vote for someone else.
I don't vote for my own, ever. I just find it unethical. Just my feeling on it.
For the same reason I try not to vote for the same person 2 weeks in a row. I like to encourage others by recognition of their efforts.
To be honest, I sometimes feel bad about voting at all, since really I like everone's stories. Many different styles and points of view, its like trying to vote for an apple over an orange.
Edit: Xeran. A quick look at the names would tell me that you must vote Zusteakai most of the time. 5 vowels FTW!

If I'm the only writer in the story, I don't vote for myself. If it's a collaboration, then I judge the other person's writing in said story against the other stories out there. See, if I was to judge MY stuff against it, I'd just stop writting. ^^() There's so many incredible writers here.

I don't vote for myself. And actually, often, I try to vote for first-timers, or people who aren't as mainstream as people like Lovely, Kuro, Clys, myself, etc. Sometimes having that one vote will make more people at least go read the post, if they haven't already.
Just this morning I was talking to someone about how easily new writers can be discouraged - don't be! This week was a tough vote for me, with all the new talent appearing out of the woodwork. There were what, five new people posting this week? All I can say is, keep posting.

I didn't feel voting for myself was all that right either.
And yeah, you guys are great storytellers/writers. I always hate my own writing and was reluctant to post the story since it took about 20mins to write from first letter to last period (blame my english teachers from my last two years of high school...2000 word essays every week or two). This one time, at ECPI, I wrote an essay when I wasn't clear on the instructions in 20 minutes (about 1000 words) and was the only person not to have to rewrite. That scared me.

Nothus, I'd never vote for myself. Then again, I never finish a story, and there's been only the one ...
I voted for someone who hasn't had any votes yet. Mostly because I think it's great writing that deserves to be read. No disrespect to the other writers who are getting all the votes, you're all terrific storytellers ... but I know how hard it can be when you think everything you write "sucks monkey testies" (as the great Zusteakai is wont to put it, and no offense meant to Abric). Just don't turn to alcohol for inspiration, kid -- that only makes things worse, in my experience.
The best thing about being a writer is also the worst thing -- you do it alone.
But TNG is a great community that's very supportive so you won't be shy of encouraging comments. This kind of community is invaluable, it keeps you grounded and encourages you to write more. So post your story Nothus, you won't regret it. Plus, think of all that gold you could win! 10 GOLD PIECES! I could buy Gloomberry a cat collar of +100 Charisma, stitched with Triple Happiness of Eternal Sunshine by Shaolin Pandarens in the immortal mist-shrouded bamboo forests of Mt Penglai with that gold, with enough change to buy everyone a round of drinks at the Blue Recluse. Huzzah!
**glances at the unfinished A Gloomberry Tale, then takes note of the three essays that were due yesterday, the three and a half novels that are demanding attention, the unfinished short stories, the half dozen book reviews, interviews and articles, the magazine proofreading gig ......
.... and silently implodes**
