View Full Version : Zalashji's Cave's Shindig (thanks to all who attended)

The May/June shindig will be held at Zalashji's Cave off the eastern shore of Tanaris on Sunday, June 4th at 7pm server time.

This location should be relatively easy to get to for characters 40+. If your character is lower level, we will (hopefully) have a few Horde and Alliance warlocks around to summon you. I cannot stress enough that we really really do want you to come. Once you are at the spot, you will be safe from any mobs.

This is a trial run at having it someplace other than Booty Bay. A lot of people asked for a new locale so this is it for this month. Next month it'll be somewhere else (maybe collossus, who knows ;) ).

Too bad I wont be able to attend, Sunday for you is Monday for me.

I wish you all have a good time at the shindig.

Just remember this time to keep all the 'love' away from children's eyes (aka Zusteakai) :P

Hmmm, Tanaris is kind of a pain to get to >.> At least for the lowbies
But it sounds kinda fun to go somewhere other than Booty Bay...

And Sunday night, YAY a better night than usual-- Ker and I are at Anime Boston until Sunday....eveningish? I hopefully can make it!

Edit: I got my weekends mixed up!! Sooooo, unless Im working on the 4t, count me in!! =D

I'm in Toronto from Wed the 31st until the evening of Sun 4th for a wedding, but will try to make it for the tail end of the bash.

Either location is good for me, so really it will depend on the lower level folk and what they think would be easier to get to for them.

Mortica

yes, hopefully we can have some warlocks on both sides help out the lower levels get to the spot.

I will gladly help farm for shards.

It was me.....Not to hijack the thread, but after watching Barke be such a killing macheen a few weeks ago in a Scarlet Monestary run, I had to roll a rogue....Plus, Teelia isn't all crazy like Lovely, so I can mingle with my TNG friends in characer without all the baggage (like the fact that Kurohane and most Alliance people hate Lovely...hehe).

The twin collosals are pretty close to the Alliance flight dock from Feathermoon Stronghold. I'd be willing to run escorts for anyone who wants to come, horde or Alliance.

Also, maybe we could organise a few warlocks to get people there? There are also no mobs on top of the collosal either. Not to shoot your idea down Mortica, just want to get across that it's doable.

there are no aggressive mobs at the cave area of the beach..only big yellow turtles.

the island does have slow moving giants, and it is farther from the graveyard, so we could just stick with the cave area if we want to insure the lower levels are safe from mobs.

I'm not saying we can't do it at the colossus, but from what I remember Tanaris and Colossus were about equal in votes, and, as I said, since Fhenrir just had is wedding there I thought a different venue so soon afterwards would be more appropriate.

Grisch
05-23-2006, 09:53 AM
Oh, just something I thought might be cool. For all you alliance that went greener that Grisch in a green dress because horde have water-walking. How about we have a high level priest around who can mind-control people and I'll pop water-walk on them. Maybe we could have a party ON the actual water itself around the island?

I think the person that teleports to the top of the colossals has a level limit as to whom she will teleport. So warlocks will be needed.

Any warlock needing shards Alliance-side, send me a tell in game and I'll help out.

Anyone Alliance-side needing a hand getting from Theramore to the beach let me know. That's how I got to Tanaris on two characters: swimming.

Anyone needing an escort, Horde or Alliance, from Gadgetzan ... umm ... you'll have to /wave at me or something, I think. I'd be happy to help out fellow party goers regardless of faction. If your lock is in the 30s, farming shards will be a piece of cake. We'll go to Darkshire where I can one-shot the mobs and we'll get a full bag and then some in no time.

And Grisch, that sounds like an awesome idea about the mind-control / water-walking. I didn't realize it was possible to MC / buff the opposing faction until last night, playing my tauren hunter on ED, I was nice to a priest trying to get out of 1k Needles. He /smiled and then MC'd me (and I thought "ok, here we go") but then he gave me a stamina buff. It was hilarious.

sunday SUNday SUNDAY!

Erm... I have a lowbie lock alt that I could probably flop out (see: corpse hop) to the location w/30-40 shards on him. We likely won't be raiding sunday, but I don't know at this point if I'm going to have other commitments. I'll certainly try to make it... as long as I'm not like, the ONLY other alliance there.

I prefer the cave as it doesnt have a big smellt naga sitting at it slithering around. Also I among some others who should be there can likely handle the giants in the water one on one so it shouldnt be an issue protecting people in route.

I will of course also gladly assist with any horde shard farming.

Urge to consume any and all alcoholic beverages
Your speech develops a Scottish brough (uh, whatever Scottish is…)

Alright. I ran a 38th level character out there today and confirmed that the turtles are vicious near the island.

We will still be having it off the Tanaris beach, but instead we will be basing at Zelashji's Cave. There is absolutely zero aggressive mobs here or at the sandy beach just south of the cave, so younger characters will have nothing to worry about.

I was able to run my 38th level character here without dieing with a bit of patience wating for mob roaming patterns.

Karkarov

Also please remember that it is easy to get from gadgetzan to steamwheedle and never aquire aggro and once there it is an easy and safe swim around the coast. Also there will be at least "some" high level people at the shindig like myself that can easily handle anything in the zone so if you have issues just make it known and we can clear any problem areas with little effort.

While my preference is for peaceful dancing and what not, I have always stated that this event IS freeform. You wanna get your evil groove on for RP reasons, this will be your chance. This is the first one we'll be doing outside of the watchful eyes of Booty Bay guards, so consider this a trial run on that.

However. I know most people share my desire for this one night out of the month peace. Disrupting said event will probably bring RP repercussions from not only the other faction, but your own faction as well.

I will be there if I can, but a warning for Alliance:

If I come, STAY AWAY FROM ME.

If a single one of you wander off, i will execute you with the only reason of you being an Alliance. Do not wander off alone. (I am only not slaughtering everything there merely because the other Alliance might turn. Shadowspeak's only fear is defeat.)

Likely I will be ambushing escorts, or anything of the like if I happen to see them, but that case is unlikely. (no, i wont camp, I HATE campers, it's the most dishonorable way to fight.)

This is why I made another alt, the rest of my characters are evil and going to such a gathering is nearly 100% out of their nature mainly because Alliance are there, and well, 3/4 of my characters are evil, and one is paranoid about dwarven plans to assassinate her. I made this new alt, a troll shaman, because Iv'e allways wanted a witch doctor, :).

Yes, actually, horde do usually have good turn-out. They also have a couple of organizations that promote cooperation and unity and RP, the THETA and the Nether Council. Guilds tend to really support each other's events on the Horde side. I don't know how that compares to Alliance. And Horde generally turn up on the dot and are rarely late. Me, personally, that was something that I loved to pieces about The Grim when I was in that guild way back in the day...they really pushed that people arrive on time and they'd start their events on time, with or without the stragglers. They'd strongly encourage people to get their flight paths and/or park their toons at the location prior to the event so everyone would be ready to log on.

Lack of punctuality is half the reason why I don't raid. I can't stand the waiting around.

Again, great event Mortica!

There was no greifing, everyone was pretty well behaved, a few sheep running around, and a once in a while hostile totem, a few warriors charging around, but otherwise it was very non-existant. I think it was better there than it would've been in BB. Gaurds there are hyperactive, one time someone nearby healed a Horde that had been dueling (not fighting, dueling) with an alliance, and the gaurds mauled him. I accedently dropped a flametounge totem without realizing the effects, and if I had done that in BB I would have been very dead. And there wouldn't have been any party sheep.

No, I talked with several of the alliance afterwards. They said that they wouldn't be attending in a non-safe environment again because they didn't feel comfortable with being subjected to totems and other harrassment without being able to retaliate.

Rhowen-Prea
06-05-2006, 11:59 AM
Responding to this and the Location thread,

Yeah, the Horde being stupid and "annoying" the Alliance isn't really condusive to getting them to attend. I mean, seriously, why would I want to go if the Horde are just going to screw with me the whole time? I want that, I'll go hang out in STV.

Shadowspeak
06-05-2006, 12:07 PM
Which is why I say use the three strikes your out method... and if someone dies at this location the walk back is long... very long.

edit: And if my character was sheeped, I would trinket out of it and destroy the one responsible. I would consider that breaking the rules even if it doesn't kill someone.

Barke
06-05-2006, 12:21 PM
While I didn't have any real problem with anyone at the party. Only hostile action against me was people stunning me while i was Mced for giggles. But the point is for everyone to enjoy themselves yes?

Well if we are to be subjected to totems and being sheeped and other such things in an environment where the other side vastly outnumbers us (Was at a horde party for most the time until Xer showed up.) And at least in BB their are already guards. That way -everyone- can enjoy themselves.

Just no reason to have it out in an unsafe zone. I wouldn't have been overly shocked if we had gotten jumped and killed by you all for the hell of it. Honestly I'll keep going but the turnout for this one had me disappointed. I might not even make it past an hour at the next one if I go at all.

*Edit* I say either do it in a neutral city so some of us can enjoy the party without getting hit, totemed, frozen, sheeped, stunned, sapped, etc, etc. Or everyone needs to make sure they are being better behaved. Otherwise these parties might as well be announced in the horde only forum.

Edit: Don't knock it till you try it eh?

Barke
06-05-2006, 01:03 PM
I have no problem with other locations. As long as we are not gonna be harrassed the entire time. I know for one that some people showed up only to get bombarded with horde heckling them. And it shouldn't be needed to have guards for a "peaceful" event like the TNG shindigs. Then the people doing guard duty cannot enjoy themselves because they have to keep an eye out for people misbehaving.

Just my thoughts. Since there were maybe 8 alliance at the party total and I don't recall anyone telling the people doing the troublemaking to stop.

I mean...I don't mind getting stunned or whatever once and a while. And Xeran and Pyth stunning me while I was MCed was just funny. But the people I was talking about. Was one thing right after another from the time they showed up to the time they left. And Barke left the party earlie than intended because he did not enjoy being hit with the random totems. Its hard to stay happy at an event your already gonna be depressed at when people are causing your character pain.

Shadowspeak

I propose we use a one strike method then. Sheep someone? Dead. Totem someone? Dead.

Just make sure if you MUST duel soemone, stay away from our guests.

I can tell the other faction that it's ok to kill someone via mindcontrol, and I would be OH so happy to kill an Alliance if they were dumb enough to break the rules.

Xeran

Someone stunned you? Who would do such a thing?!

<.<

>.>

*hides mace behind back*

Seriously, I only did it twice (once to Barke and once to the gnome) and the stun itself is non-damaging: it's just a stun.

Personally, I consider all of these Shindig events semi-OOC anyway. Xer is something of a peacenik, which is why I bring him, but it's a party with Clys there, which Xer probably would not attend IC, so I just ignore that part of it (and besides, Clys is the bomb :) ). It's like a semi-formal: everyone is more dressed up than usual, but no one cares if you drape your jacket over a chair and go without it. So by all means act somewhat in-character, but let's leave the angst at the door.

I was thinking of the dueling thing at the event. I thought it might be neat for Horde to duel a pally in a relatively friendly environment (or for Alliance to duel a Shammy). Either way, it could be fun.

Having security for events out "in the world" may be a good idea.

Yea, this was really annoying me as well and I asked Clys to relay my apologies to the Alliance in the IRC for the idiots hordeside that kept slapping totems down and such. If they wanted to duel, they should have taken it down the beach a ways. Wasn't me either. The most forward thing I did to any of the Alliance was hug and tickle few. The aoe's were not entertaining. Fireworks are entertaining and don't keep thumping people. If you were a level 20ish alliance and you kept getting "tapped" with some level 40ish+ horde's AOE at what was supposed to be a friendly party...it's kinda like having the obnoxious neighbor show up at the barbeque and he keeps thumping you in the chest when he's talking to you. It's harmless but it's rude, in my opinion anyway.

I think a "safe" location is for the best. I want our alliance friends to feel comfortable.

If I have to put up with being heckled from horde while in SW I can't see why I would place myself in a situation just to get annoyed like that. Get pissy about it if you want but I'm not backing down.

I've already explained some of this to Mort but its a peaceful event. Which means just that. Like Rho said. the actions of the few have ruined it for the majority.

Agreed. Except the horde side part. It was zusteakai and his "guild" being stupid. I think we all agree on this. Perhaps zusteakai and his guild should be banned from the next shindig as punishment for their behavior, and allowed to attend the 5th shindig as long as they don't do anything like they did last time.

Ratchet, Booty Bay, Gadgetzan, Cenarion Hold, Moonglade...They have guards that will keep the peace, but I think I'm forgetting somewhere.

I know, I have. The asses that get on top of the pillar bridge (the one going up the ramp to the alliance fp) really piss me off. Oh, and the caster that get on the side of the hill out of guard range, or around behind broken walls are fucktards too. Forgive the language.

Yeah, I got hit with totems, nailed once by a pet - and didn't do a thing against the purpetrators. Let's face it, a lot of us are going out of our way to come OOC-ly both Horde and Alliance side to make these shindigs possible. Regardless of apologies, the parties really are horde-centric as far as attendance, and considering what happened with Kuro at one and now this, well...

I'm not pointing fingers, not assigning blame. But it's too little too late for me. I'd love to come to another someday, but until some basic lines of respect and/or rules can be agreed upon with locations and behaviour, I'll have to bow out. Yeah - boo hoo Alliance can't take it. Honestly though, if the situations were reveresed, I know some others would feel the exact same way for being attacked and not being able to do a damn thing about it because you're outnumbered and NOT 60 ;)

If I wanted PvP, I'd come fully armed. I'd die...a lot... but I'd still come armed ;)
