It was an interesting evening, which is a nice change from the boredom of late. I arose too late to join the raid on Menethil Harbor, but I decided to make my way in that direction anyway. I chose to go via Theramore, and took the Alliance boat across the Great Sea.

When I arrived in Menethil, most of the fighting was over. Thirsty for blood, I stalked the city and, finding nothing of interest inside, made my way along the path that leads back to the Arathi Highlands.

The swamp smell always makes me happy, and the sound of the crocolisks splashing about like little children is a pleasure. I spied an elf, a well-trained priest from the look of him, with a very young human by his side. They were killing one of the crocolisks, which apparently thought the human looked tasty. I had to agree with the crocolisk. I left the elf and the human beside the road, where the other crocolisks could get a decent meal or two.

The moon was rising and I stopped for a bit to watch the play of the light on the waters.

Afterwards, I travelled up into the Arathi Highlands. Nearing Refuge Point, I saw a familiar figure on a white steed riding down toward the small outpost. I followed her, unseen of course by the guards, and tickled her as she stood in the middle of the clearing. She giggled and nodded and rode out to a safe area where we could talk.

Lovely told me that she was engaged in protecting one of her guildmates who was doing some kind of task in Hillsbrad. After we parted, I made my way to Tarren Mill just to see what was going on. Apparently Lovely had gone ahead of me, and got herself in trouble with the Deathguards. Silly Paladin.

She told me that she had made a blanket for our new baby girl, Tempyst. I promised her that she would get to meet Tempyst in time.

A sudden thought hit me. Tempyst's body had grown inside Danlily's. I wonder, would it be possible to grow a body in a similar way, outside a mother's body? Perhaps in a flask or other container? Could I, in fact, grow myself a new body?

Spirits can be transferred to other bodies. I know this from the Shamans. If I could grow a copy of my body, in full health, and transfer myself to it...

This idea bears further investigation.

Clys stood before a large stone vat, which was filled with a thick reddish liquid. Little bubbles formed and then swirled on the surface of the liquid, and a slight haze of steam hung above it.

"Looks big enough," she muttered to herself. "I guess it's time to try this."

She turned away from the vat and approached her wooden workbench, which was covered with flasks, beakers, herbs, and other arcane equipment related to alchemy. She placed a small flask directly before herself, then carefully poured a bit of that same reddish liquid into the flash. She removed her leggings and underclothing, so that she was naked from the waist down. Grabbing a small scalpel in her right hand, she envisioned the line she meant to cut, using her left hand to feel along her abdomen for the correct spot.

"Good thing I don't need an egg," she thought. "I'd really have to dig for one of those, if I still even have any. But I do want something internal, something as fresh as I still have." She paused for a moment, chuckling softly. "Well, let's do this."

She carefully made an incision in her shriveled flesh, slowly widening the cut as it went deeper and deeper. She winced at the sensation of pain, smiling to realize that she still felt this. A bit of greenish fluid emerged and dripped down her belly. She ignored it and cut deeper until she reached some tissue that still appeared resilient and somewhat healthy. She took a small sample of the tissue, holding it on the tip of the scalpel, and dropped it into the flask. She put a quick bandage over the wound.

"Well, let's see what happens. Maybe I should start with restored flesh, really. Then again, that might skew the results. I'm just not sure. I want it to be an exact copy of my body, just the way it was before. I'll just keep trying until I get it right."

She made a mental note to herself to talk to a few of the shaman she knew. Once the body was complete, there would be the problem of transferring her spirit to it. And there was the other question, the one that Vitusacles had asked. Was her immortality bound to the flesh she currently inhabited, or was it part of her spirit, or both?

There were, as always, too many questions and not enough answers. She would simply have to be patient and take it one step at a time.

I ran into Chum this evening in the Undercity. Interesting fellow. It seems he also has some ties to the RAS. He was very interested in my research. I demonstrated my flesh restoration potion for him, and he was very impressed. He indicated a willingness to help with my further research.

His story intrigues me. Apparently he has a still-living human daughter, who is living with the Alliance. He told me it was because "I am not her father, anymore." Perhaps I can show him the error in this, eventually. Those that are our own, are always ours.

He asked to see my notes. I think I will oblige him, at least with those less sensitive ones. After I know I can trust him, perhaps more. We will see.
