This is an RP server right? That means I can RP whatever i want any way i want (within boundaries ie no racism et al.) correct?
Bah forget it. The next time someone tells me to leave and not bother their RP even or not RP with them in a public place, i am leaving the server.
I have had it with people holding an RP session in a public place, but then get pissed when someone throws a wrench in their works while doing it all in character.
A RP server means RP happens at all times. Bah....i am seriously reconsidering if you can even RP on WoW.

I agree. As long as you aren't bouncing up and down and acting a fool JUST to disrupt them, anything goes. I love this server.

Chingaso agree. Many time buttinskis happen IRL, so should expect in RP. This not Pollyanna RP...

Aye. Things happening in public places are subject to involvement by other people in the same public place. That's just the way it is. If they had wanted it to be private, they should relocate to a private place.
I agree with everyone. While I can sympathize with Hifazat, its hard trying to carry on a meaningful dialogue in game dispite the fact some huge, hairy tauren arse is in your face /brushing up and farting through it all..

I'm an advocate for RP where the public can see. You'll always get people being assholes, but you can ignore those folks. People who honestly try to RP with me, I can usually stand. There's only a few things Alucian can't IC-ly stand, but that's only come up once. ;)

*sigh* I won't give names and guilds but this is basically what happened. I saw a small RP thing going down, i sat and listened to see what was happening. I was busy chatting in guild chat. Anyway i hear some stuff being said that my character would love to comment on. So i do so. I stick around interjecting into the RP as i deem fit.
After a while i start getting tells from people there and not there that to leave them alone and that me RPing with them is not welcome.
Sadly this is not the first time for this to happen. Its actually the 4th.
If you RP in a public place expect people to butt in. Sometimes I think re-rolling on a RP-PVE server would have saved me alot of headaches and annoyance.

I was RPing with someone in Stormwind just a few minutes ago, and this level 1 paladin with the ugliest female face I've ever seen came up and started talking to us. She then pulled out a cigarette, lit it and had a hacking cough. I had to laugh. She stayed in character the whole time....It was beautiful. You can't ask for chaos like that.
Oh, and yesterday, Barke was sitting on his steps brooding, and this gnome walks up to him and says "You look lonely."
Barke replied "I'm fine. Nothing for you to be concerned about."
The gnome then says "I wasn't concerned...I was making fun of you."
I ROFLed in real life.
I love this server.

I find it hilarious when people randomly approach me. It usually ends with me scaring them off.

That is precious! Maybe its just me, but does that stuff seem to happen more often over on the Alliance side? In Org, folk generally seem to be too busy running around trying to selling crap or milling about aimlessly in front of the AH/Bank/mailbox mud flats. Sometimes you get the occasional rooftop dancer.
There is the tree in the fork of the Drag that Lupa likes to sit under (or sleep as of late), but really only Grisch has taken the time to sit and chat with me there..

That's just sad. Good RP needs no script. I'd have gone right to their guildmaster about it. Hell, you're a bigger man than I because I'd have listed their names and their guild just so everyone knows that they don't actually "exist" here since they evidently are trying to RP that they're the ONLY people on Azeroth.
YUCK!
If you'd like to PM me some names, I'll respect your wishes and keep it quiet. I'll also arrange a "field trip" to ruin them. I have so many folks chatting with me anytime I'm on, it's very easy for me to have a camp-out and not feel like I'm wasting my time.

I think I may know who you're talking about. There are some people on the server that hold RP in public just as some kind of "hey, dig us" event. Or maybe they're just trying to "force" people to deal with their outrageous nonsense. Either way, if it's in public, the public gets to react to it (which could include applause, throwing tomatoes and booing or anything in between.).

The difference between RP and acting is that acting is scripted. You know what you say, when you say it, how you say blah blah. RP is acting without the script. Which is why I ignore anyone who comes at me with scripted RP. Besides try DM'ing D&D or some other pen and paper game with wacko players that try to screw everything up. If you get good at it you will find ways to inoffensively make any event you wanted to happen happen no matter what kind of idiocity is going on.

As most of you know the Ironforge Regiment does a lot of RPing, and I don’t mind the “Hey cool” and “What are you guys doing” and such. I love it. I think we do a good job of answering any in-character questions with a proper in-character reply. But we do get a fair amount of people zig-zagging through our formations and spaming garbage and being a general butthead. We just ignore them. Not much you can do anyway.

Personally, if I'm RPing in public and people don't come up to me, I get a little disappointed. All those people running around and no one wants to stop and talk. *sigh*
That's when I think of breaking out Elbert: he's a gnome warlock who, true to his engineering heritage, thinks Stormwind needs remodeling. I'm going to walk around by the bank and AH and talk to my "contractor" (his voidwalker) about various changes.
"This, Juk'Thor, is the Auction House. There's already one in Ironforge, so this one isn't needed. It's going to take a lot of explosives, but if we create a crater deep enough we can put a reflecting pool here. The bank is also useless, so that will be replaced by the new 'Wings of Elbert' Wyvrn station and stables. The old Wyvrn area will become an amusement park ... are you writing this down? Look, don't make me outsource this job to the Forsaken. I've already had several offers to help remodel here, you're just lucky you're still the lowest bidder."
I'm sure that will get a rise out of people.

Two words: "Report Them". You're not being an ass by reporting people for bad behaviour, or blatantly non-RP names, your're doing other RPers a favor.
I've been reading a few of the post on the new Customer Service forums. GM's DO NOT actively police the game. The ONLY way they become aware of problems is by players reporting them. They rely on US to keep our RP servers decent. The more people who are disrupting roleplaying that we bring to their attention, the better they can do their jobs.
I think the reason TN has turned into such a joke RP wise in some cases is because of the tolerant attitude. Don't accept griefing. Warn the person once, politely in a tell. Then report them. Don't just put them on ignore. You're doing other RPers a disservice.

I don't get much opportunity to RP outside of IFR events...my regular hunting partner is also my husband IRL so if we have something to say to each other it's said over my shoulder and not in game. But, I found the perfect chance to RP the other day while running my orphan around. First I announced to my guildmates that Koenig and I were taking the plunge and taking in a foster child. That got the ball rolling there. While we were in Westfall I told my orphan to hide while we took care of a wandering Horde or two. No one responded to that little bit of RP so I let it slide.
Time went on, me RPing the tour guide to my orphan, and no one making any comments at all. It was disappointing. Then we get to the bank in Darnassus...and my kid starts screaming for some ice cream. Being a mom IRL I went right into mother mode...."you are not getting ice cream until you eat all your Undermine Clam chowder!". Koenig would throw in his two cents worth...you know, the typical "don't give in to him" while not doing much to help. It was actually really fun, and it lasted a good 15 minutes. Unfortunately we didn't get any responses at all, besides an occasional snicker.
Are people afraid to get involved in someone else's RP because of situations like Hifizat's? I know personally I've overheard conversations between Lovely and Barke and have been tempted to be obviously nosy....trying to get a look-see at the infamous Lovely I've heard about. But, I go about my business so as not to be a bother. /shrug

I think my favorite example of RP breakdown was when I was playing shadowrun and my character was pretty much a pistol packing psychopath (imagine that) and decided he needed a sportbike, so he was going to acquire the first shiny red sportbike he saw through any means necessary.
Meanwhile our GM was bringing in another player who just so happened to have shiny red motorcycle, so the GM being a good guy knowing there is a psychopath wanting a red motorcycle up the road, tried to impede the player and get him off his bike, a few assailents jumped out to attack him, but he just sped on by, finally the GM roleplayed the bike broke down, but the player ignored the OOC advice to just ditch the bike so the crafty player just pulled over and scavenged parts out of an abandoned car and repaired the motorcycle and continued on his way..
In the end, my character saw his shiny bike and proceeded to push my pistols in the rider's face and blow the back of his skull off the top of his head and ride of on his motorcycle..
the player freaks, the GM informs him how he warned him, explaining the IC situation, the rest of the players begin clowning our dead mage and the rp breakdown commence seconds afterwords when the dead player gets out of control and fist fight breaks out.

Oddly enough my encounters of random RP have increased 200 fold. Had 3 random encounters just last night. It was a blast. There are alot of roleplayers logging on to TN these days.
And just because of that I have reinstalled FlagRSP.

I dunno, it seems to me that live RP tends to break down on any RP server in any game once the majority of the general population reaches end game. That's my observation.
The key is to personally stay proactive in your RP and not expect it to just be handed to you.

I think you're right 'Lil.. I'm having more fun and RP opportunities right now than ever before, mainly because I went out and sought it.
Now, the spinoff possibilities are many.. with the added bonus of contributing to other's RP efforts.

I don't get to play much, but it's pretty much 100% RP when I do. Heck, I was playing at work last week and my co-worker was like, you haven't made it out of Stormwind yet? And I was like, no, I take 2 steps and I get 5 whispers about things going on.
I spend more time typing than anything else, hehe.
