Hey guys, I was thinking, ever notice how the stands in the Shimmering Flats are pretty empty? Ever wonder why we can't gamble on the races that go on there?

...

Who says we can't! I'm proposing a race. Perhaps several, where the winner would win a certain ammount of gold. The racers would be members of Horde and Alliance. There would have to be, however, a certain ammount of people willing to help. Such as...

Judges. There would be two judges, one one each side. They would communicate out of game, via AIM or such other means. They would decide, in case there was a close tie, who the winner is.

Announcers. Again, two on each side. They would offer commentary and information on all of the racers.

Racers. They would race one another. Perhaps a chance for some racing drama to spring? I'd like to enforce a no speed enhance rule, so that they rely on skill alone to beat one another, and not ye merry olde Carrot on a Stick. (However, that's just me. I wouldn't mind changing the rule, if other people think it's a bad idea.)

The audience! of course, everyone else should be in the stands, cheering for their favorite guy and gambling with one another. If there are any mages or cooks who'd like to offer concessions, (Plainstrider legs! get yer red-hot Plainstrider legs!), I think that would be fun, too.

All together, it would definately take some planning, but I think it would be a fun event to look foreward to. Perhaps one or more of the guilds could offer sponsorships, and it could open up a nice setting for some good RP action.

So? Any thoughts?

Gambling was deemed illegal by Blizzard a couple months ago.

A bunch of people were perma-banned for running Casinos.

Would take a lot of folks to marshal it, too. Need lots of warriors and hunters (coincidentally enough, our server has TONS of both) to Wing Clip and Hamstring those that fail to stay on the track.

Maybe just a concussion shot.

Those improved talents are whack.

Whaaaaaat???! Laaaame!! Oh well. Racing would still be fun, though. As for marshalls, I'm sure we could find people to play "Security".

Racing sounds cool, however: Paladins have a talent-point enhancement (pursuit of justice) which increases our mounted speed (and general movement, I think). This does NOT stack with other speed enhancements. In the interests of fairness:

1) Allow all but Paladins to enter or

2) Allow any and all enhancements to speed thus nullifying the Paladin talent and opening it up to people willing to buy the enchants, etc.

You're kidding me!? Got a link? Seriously, that's just ludicrous.

I didn't know Paladins got that... HAX!! Anyway yeah, seems like a good enough reason to allow enchants. I give! Enchants are in!

Why not just hold bets on the drag races that go on every so often there? They run on a pretty tight schedule, and there's a lot less risk of cheating and worring about enchants and talents, and all that etc.
