View Full Version : The misadventures of Last Night (in 3D!)

Since the servers are down for the next few hours, I figured I'd start my morning by writing about last night's game.....Tons of fun.

I got on last night, and noticed I was broke again (trained up my tailoring and stuff, plus, its hard for me to save cash). Since Xeran wasn't able to do our Dire Maul thing (see, it wasn't my fault this time...hehe), I figured I'd go farm Scarlet Monestary.

Sounds easy enough....At level 60 I can solo pretty much the whole thing. Good drops, lots of stuff for tailoring (I'm only at 202), etc.

Well, my husband was home sick (we both have Strepthroat now), and our roomie was bored, so they asked if they could tag along.

My hubby and roomie both belong to The Collettore Royale, a guild I started with my priest alt. One of the other members saw them on, and asked if they could join us too. I invited them and we began our trek. At this point we have a 60 paladin (me, yay), two level 32 mages, and a 28 rogue. I know the aggro is going to be flying around up there, but I am confident in my abilities to keep a team alive, even with a ton of elites on them.

Oh, and did I mention I forgot to repair my armor before we left? Hehe.

Anyway, we get to Southshore, and are waiting on the rogue, when the horde attacks Southshore. I jump into the fray, die a few times, get some kills in, and my partners actually jump in and have some fun as well.

Most of the horde attacking Southshore were 60's, so I didn't want to stick around too long, especially since not many people were coming. I didn't want to spend all night on a rez timer while I was supposed to be looting Scarlet Monestary.

We slipped away and took off running toward the Undercity. We almost get there, when the obligatory level 60 undead rogue attacks. Hey, we were in Horde territory, so I don't hold anything against him. He takes out the cloth wearers almost instantly, and after a moment it is me against him....and a level 40+ warlock who just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

I salute the warlock. If not for the DOTs and the fear/charm combos, I would have had that rogue.....He was almost low enough for my hammer of wrath. Anyway, I die, and then the rogue spams a /spit macro at me. Very classy there.

So finally we get into the Monestary, and kill our first group of mobs, and my armor all turns yellow. This is when it hit me that I hadn't repaired.

We make our way through the library, getting my lowbie team the Mythology of the Titans book for their quest, and are about to take out the boss, when a stray runner pulls an entire room AND the boss on us.

Needless to say, we wiped. The boss kept counterspelling my heals, and I had like 10 of those monks on me. I died and all my armor and weapon + shield went totally red.

We decided to all rez in the graveyard and go home to lick our wounds.

The mages both rezzed and teleported. As I rezz, I see our rogue getting attacked by a tauren shaman right there in the Graveyard. I was like "WTF dude we have rez sickness", but we still took the Tauren out. Then he rezzed, and tried to attack us again! He died again.

At this point, the rogue types to me "What the hell is this asshole trying to do? We're in the graveyard with Rez sickness!"

One second later, the rogue is one shotted. I look up and see two members of The Grim, and then they start to attack me too. I had rez sickness, and did not want to get camped by the Grim....I don't like giving those idiots the satisfaction of getting me....So I bubblehearthed and got out.

The Grim camped the rogue for quite a while, even though he was 30 levels lower than them. They even brought in more level 60's to help them.

/golfclap Grim....Camping a lowbie in a graveyard and not letting them hearth home is very classy.

Anyway, I get back to Stormwind, and my armor repair bill is 5 gold! I only had one gold on me!!! So not only did I not win any greed rolls on the mission, but since I had to scrounge up the money for repairs, it actually cost me money to go there.

Anyway, as I'm sulking about the waste of the night (although I did have MUCH fun battling with my friends), I get a whisper from a gnome warlock...the alliance alt of the same warlock who had helped that rogue kill us outside of the Undercity. He was very nice, and saluted me, and apologized for the behavior of the /spit spamming rogue. We talked for a few minutes, and suddenly I felt better about the entire night.

Aside from the fact that I had INCREDIBLE roleplay with Barke, stuff like this is one of the reasons I love this server. Just the random chaos, and PVP, and roleplaying, and all the stuff I've been rambling about....

Twisting Nether is awesome....

I agree TN is awesome. There has been a lot of talk back and forth on the TN forums between the members of the level 50s bracket in battlegrounds. The cool thing is how much respect is being shown by both sides to each other. There's none of the "ZOMG I PWND YOU N00B" crap like on a normal PVP server. It's great! The Alliance usually wins AB and WSG in this bracket and we've been encouraging the Horde (they still put up a hell of a fight). During the AV weekend, I plan to cowboy up and lose a bunch of AVs since they queued BGs which, I'm sure, can be discouraging to them (not that I'll try to lose, it's just the way things seem to work out). For the most part, people on TN recognize it's a game and it's only fun for everyone if both sides have fun.

Sorry to hear that about the Grim. Used to be, when dealing with the Grim, they would kill you but show respect at the same time (ie: let you finish killing the mob you were on, not corpse camp).

Lovely: if you solo the SM Graveyard (the open instance on the left as you enter the Monastery) you can make about 20 gold an hour on average. I've been playing around in Deadmines and it's only 5-10 gold an hour on average.

Also, I need to cobble together some RP about getting your diary! O.o

I'm so sorry I missed you Lovely! Grooda was helpin' guildies through SM most of the night. I'd have loved to join the camp-out at the graveyard!

Those Grim were probably out there because a couple Alliance 60's had been campin' out the front of the Monastery.

I never get to milk you of your yummy honor-treats! /sigh

Xeran,

Yeah, I love the SM graveyard...That was my plan until I got talked into running the library for my alt's guildies...hehe. And yeah, we do need to hook up and RP. I was planning on trying to jump start some of the diary related stuff last night, but it was your turn to say no (see, Xeran and I keep playing "Dire-Maul tag.")

/hugs

Malebrignon,

I wasn't mad at the Grim. They RP evil, and that was pretty evil...hehe. No hard feelings. On the RP side, Lovely hates them with a passion though, so I was like "Shit, I'm bubblehearthing so they don't get the satisfaction of killing me." hehe.

I'm sure there may have been Alliance out there too...I know I was there. From Southshore all the way to the SM instance, we had to fight horde almost nonstop. It was incredibly fun, and the most action I've ever seen since going to SM the first time.....I love this server.

I recently farmed Herod for his shoudlers, yeap what fun. Almost funny the amount of dodging I could get away with at 60. I had to practically poke some mobs to make them get up the cajones to attack me.

Maybe I will try the graveyard for a little cash.

Hopefully future attempts will work out better for you.

Yup, it's the open instance portal on the left as you enter SM. There is a minor boss down in the crypt. The nice thing is that there are some rare spawns in there that drop some boe blues and, if you can solo it, you should make about 20 gold / hour on average.

Before you start:
- Clean out your bags
- Have an hour in which to grind

During the run:
- Everything drops something so kill it all (don't overlook the non-elite ghosts, they drop as much money as the elites and are easier to kill).
- Pick up everything except food / drink
- Pick up greens and cycle out grey items in favor of greens
- Some bop blues; boe blues if you get lucky
- Wait for repop
- Repeat for an hour or until you have bags filled with greens
- AH greens; AH silk; AH wool (if you have a stack of 20, otherwise I wait); AH boe blues (if any)

For an hour's work, you'll get about 5 gold in coin straight away and between 10 and 15 gold worth of vendor / AHable stuff. Some of the boe blues AH for upwards of 30 gold, meaning that run was worth 50 gold.

I farmed it for about 4 hours yesterday. I made 30 gold in coin, and I disenchanted all the BoP items. I put everything else on the AH, and if it all sells I will have made around 150 gold just for 4 hours of killing undead.

Plus, I would stick my head out of the instance sometimes and play with the horde who were trying to camp the entrances for Alliance questers.

One time, there was a group of level 60's with a level 29 Shaman about to go in. None of them were flagged, but the shaman saw me and attacked, flagging himself. I killed him, consecrated the area, and jumped back into the instance before his friends got me.

This was really funny, because I had a 34 mage in my party who had waited inside, and she was laughing hard when I ran back in on fire and with a hunters mark on me. hehe.

Hmm I have had her honor - treats, not that great.........rather disappointing.

And now those two Grim didn't get your honor-treats, they did get the pleasure of seeing you bubble/hearth out like a true virtuous paladin.....leaving your friends behind too.

I take pride in my bubblehearthing, thank you. If you could do it, you'd have done the same.

Oh, and I only left one friend behind...a level 29 rogue that it took 5 level 60's to camp in the graveyard. But he got away after only two or three deaths, so no big deal.
