View Full Version : Alliance and Horde I GOT IT!!!
Alright here we go.....
Alliance are the more roleplaying inclined of the two they also are very skilled when it comes to PVE if you look at many servers it is the Alliance that open the gate to AQ.
Horde are the more brutal of the two though they may have more mature players they do not engage themselves in much RP they are fairly skilled when it comes to PVE but apparently because of the people that play Horde they are much more skilled when it comes to PvP.
A silly assumption I have made.

Quite silly, as far as the RP is concerned.

There is the belief that Horde often have more mature players, because the kiddies are not attracted to playing an 'ugly monster' and would rather go for the prettier races.
I do agree it attracts the more aggressive players, as they are seen as more warlike.
But I think the RP is pretty much even on both sides. In fact right now, I might be wrong, but Horde seem to have a slightly stronger RP base than Alliance here.

I would agree the horde have a much stronger coordinated RP base than Alliance.
Alliance i have to say has far many more children. Secondly a fact that most people seem to either skip or not know is that there are many non-RP guilds that have a large active Role-playing community.
If you see RSA you don't think RP or Aeon. But i know people from both guilds that actively RP. 2 were once Keepers.

I wouldn't say that Horde RP is stronger persay.. but that horde RP tends to be more heavily anchored in WoW Lore than I've seen in Alliance when I'm wandering about Stormwind and such...
But that's just what I've seen.. I know certain guilds/people are heavy in lore on the Alliance side, but not the majority..

When I roll Alliance characters anywhere, I tend to see just as much, if not more roleplay around. The trouble is many of those roleplayers tend to have FlagRSP info including a detailed backstory of how they became a vampire, or how they are 7 months pregnant with their third illigitimate child.
Just as well, on the Horde I see every third person being a dark, twisted monster who passes their time by plotting to kill everyone who isn't in their dark little clichy guild, or talking about how dark and twisted they are with their dark and evil friends. Granted, there are also some trolls here and there that seem to suffer from elf syndrome ("Our races shall go extinct if we don't do something about it!").
Also, in regards to PvE and PvP.
The Alliance has a strong advantage in PvE. Paladins are -much- more effective for utility/healing than shamans. There's no denying that fact. Not to mention they get their Onyxia Keys a lot quicker and easier than we do. = /
The Horde has an advantage in PvP because of their spirit. The Horde is generally more warlike by nature. If you look at their towns, there's no excess. There aren't 70 bajillion shops around selling flowers and dresses and pies and monicles. They're all about business. Also, I'm of the opinion that shamans are more useful in PvP than paladins. And we're not spending all our time breeding, like your elves are.

Over the last few weeks I feel like the Horde RP has been on a bit of a dryspell. I think it's becase many people are hitting 60, and with most of the smaller RP guilds having no endgame organized, it gets boring.
We haven't had any serious RP events, such as the Tainting of Loch Modan, or the Stormwind raid and such.
We need to get something going, preferably coordinated on both Horde and Alliance. Something huge.
Also, many of the smaller RP guilds have absolutally no end-game events going on, so after 60 there isn't a whole lot of incentive to log on. You can only play alts so many times before it gets boring.
Well to be bak on the subject, Twisting Nether is a great realm is all i am going to say we have our fill of RP PvP and just a great cast of faces, I am glad i joined TNG and got to find that out for a fact.

I must agree... Something must be done...

Well first and foremost.... 90% of people who RP on any mmo either A: never played an RPG and I mean a real one like D&D or World of Darkness ((when run by a non emo idiot)) so have no real experiance in a true "roleplaying game" and or B: have tons of experiance in console and pc RPG's where you dont play the character so much as you watch the story and while they can be good they tend to be bombarded with cliches and predictable plot twists.
This results in a player who has a very off kilter idea of what RP'ing is, and also results in alot of cases in a player who is trying to RP but has never really done it in truth. Nodoby tried to RP thier first time and found they did everything right or had the perfect great story. My advice is to take these new RP'ers and try to cultivate them and work with them to become better so they can get more out of the RP and the game.
That being said... RP is not about major world events and "huge" encounters. If you need some giant 100-200 player in game event to feel like you are RP'ing then you well.... arent RP'ing. Just remember a good major world event is the result of solid in game RP. The RP should cause the event... not the other way around.

Honestly, I am usually happy enough not hearing about someone's real life issue, or hearing grossly modern speech. That is usually enough for me. Add in a little personal acting, and being willing to not treat is as a game of numbers, and just be in the world and react to it like you would if you were really there, and I've got my rp. Xaran doesn't have much of a backstory. I find the setting doesn't support that level of character development as well (free form tabletop lets you expore that so much better), she just is. I've developped a personality sure, but that's more or less enough for me.
