Thank you so much!
I wish I had been with most of you too, Rho...But I WAS with a few of the Greyward. Mekos, Caede, and Brardith (who is unofficial Greyward), along with an awesome Warlock named Adamantus.
I am so happy...This is my first 60 ever, and I'm really excited about it!
Yay!
Hugs for you all!

Hehe...You guys are awesome, even if you do kill me.
Abric, I don't think you'll be killing me around Timbermaw. Since this is my first high level character, I had no idea I was supposed to build faction with them, and I wiped out the entire tunnel several times....killing their leader a few times too. I'm at war with them apparently....hehe.
In my defense, they DID attack me first.

Lovely:
If you want to fix your Timbermaw rep, I'm on the quests to get rep with them now. I'd be happy to smash furry bear guys with you (and could use the company because it's boooooooooring).
Or we could just power through them so I can get to Moonglade and Winterspring. Either works for me. :)

Dang! My alt is at level 49. I was going to try to get him to 60 before she did. That would give me 3 to her one (i'm counting castor/horde as one of these 60's)
Congradulations though. You did it at your own pace and had fun along the way, and that's what it's all about. :)

Xeran is 51 now Castor. Give me a yell if you want to group up to smash stuff sometime. I've got a couple quests in ST I need to do (including the one for feathers for a Pally quest).
And QFT on the "... at your own pace and had fun ..." piece. Early on, there were a lot of Horde that raced to 60 and then posted daily on the boards about having nothing to do. The game is more about journey than destination, IMHO.
Though I want to get to 60, dammit!!

You may have to sacrifice a pet/shield/stoneclaw totem to do it though.

I ground to honored w/timbermaw from unfriendly... so yeah. That was loads of fun.
Not.
It's actually not that bad... 5 rep/kill (might be 6 for human) with each headdress feather (common drop) being worth 10 rep each (11 since you're human). Spend about 10 hours grinding rep & you can reach honored too most likely.
Only problem is the hordlings that sometimes come around, or when the place is over-filled with people and the spawn rate can't keep up. That can get annoying.
It's fastest solo though, at least it was for a druid. You don't have to share the feathers, and there's virtually no downtime.
BTW... grats on 60!

Aw, but AV is funner, more like world PvP.

Aw, but AV is funner, more like world PvP.
If by funner and more like world PvP you mean being camped at a graveyard by Horde in epicz and not having a chance in hell because you just dinged sixty as opposed to being 60 since November and aren't anywhere near geared enough and should just give up on PvP until you're completely epiczed out,
Then yeah. XD
Doh. I'm not geared very well, since I don't do raids at all. It's stilll fun. Heck you can run off to some side area and gain faction off the mobs if you want. Or hang around and defend. I haven't seen any 'camping' at a graveyard, but the GY's are focus points of the battle so sometimes you do wind up reviving in the middle of nastiness. Ah well, to each his or her own. I like the large scope of AV, it feels so much less structured and repetitive than the others.
I despise the queues, though, and the way the game will kick you right out of an instance sometimes and mark you as a deserter, even when you didn't AFK. This after waiting 3 hours to get in. Anyway, I won't go into that here.

I promised myself I'd wait until 55 to queue AV ... I broke it. I started in at 51 and had a blast (for the most part) in the two I was in.
I saw you in one of them Clys! I was like "ZOMG! Clys!!"
I totally pwned you!*
I also saw Vonny and Vanny and Synth and a bunch of other famous Hordlings.
I ended up /afking out of the three I was in: Alliance strategy consists of "ZOMG Iceblood!" "ZOMG Stonehearth!" "ZOMG Iceblood!" "ZOMG Stonehearth!" It reaches a point where I can't take anymore and need to leave and do something interesting ... like run the Deadmines to get linen. Or spin in circles in the AH. Or hum along with the login screen music. *sigh*
* Where "I" = 20 zerging Allys and "pwned" = killed because I don't know what "pwned" means. :)
(( Lol Xeran. I saw you there, too. I did not attempt to kill you because, well, you're a paladin, so what's the point? I'd be hacking at you for 10 minutes, except I wouldn't because once I appear I have less than 10 seconds to kill something before I'm dead myself, unless I'm lucky enough to find someone out by themselves. Needless to say, in AV I die a lot. I also kill a lot, doing the 'ah, there's someone at half health' dance. I also sacrifice myself to stop other rogues and druids by stunning them so my side can see them and kill them. I also try to stun pallies before they shield ;) Of course I get smacked by hunters and warlocks when I do this, but hey, it gets the job done. If I'm quick enough I can work the stun and still escape alive :)
Oh, and pwnd is the bizarre spelling of owned, part of the wonderful and constantly evolving world of shorthand on the web.

You should have joined the ones I was in. They weren't epic. Or battles. But they were 4 hours.

I hit 51 on my alt and happened to be in Stormwind and said to myself "I can do AV now, may as well hop in there and get the quests, maybe turn out a few rep." No big deal right?
So I queue up. "Wow, brand new game. Let me go get the quests." So I ride into town and grab the quests and then decide to look who's in the game. To my delight it was my good 'ole friends from RSA. I hopped on their vent (I left on good terms) and proceeded to mooch off of their success for 3-4 games going from no rep to halfway through friendly in a few short hours, as well as earning about 30k honor on the day. Not bad for dumb luck.
Good times.
I do feel bad for the horde though. I saw the queue times being a problem way back when and it was part of why I rerolled alliance. Wanted to do it before I got too attached to my warrior (although I miss charging in and lopping off heads, alas). My alt is in a PvP guild working their way up to 60. Hopefully they don't all decide to go PvE once we get rolled a few times at 60 and we can help slightly alleviate the bg wait for you guys.

The reason is simple, Ive heard about those games as well and here is what the strategy is.
"They're *insert guild name* we cant beat them so we should just try to ignore them and race to their boss!"
Okay...so it sounds good on paper, but then these guys have to consider THEY GOT THEIR EPICS FROM PvE!!!! Thats about the easiest way to give the game to them, if RSA can clear MC in X hours (Im presuming you guys have it at around 3ish hours right?) then theres no way they cant just speed through killing the bosses whereas if they had to compete with non-scripted players it might be harder.

Heh sorry bout those games Fhen... I actually ended up leading a couple of them sunday night. for the most part, though, they weren't really "RSA" Games, unless you were referring to saturday. RSA did run a few in-guild raids which were probably blowouts. The ones I ran were mostly just random people plucked from the masses. I saw Lovely online & was gonna invite... but her DND was up. I'll keep an eye out for others on here. When I was leading I tried to do things as they were "meant" to be done... and we ended up getting about twice as much honor for doing it that way. Gotta keep those rear defenses intact.
To be honest, it's not the epics that make the difference. Don't get me wrong.. it certainly does make things easier, as 10 epicced out guys can do the work of about 12-13 who aren't... but all in all, it's not a huge thing. Coordination is the key to winning AV... and without it, the alliance loses every time.
Xeran

That sounds a lot like what I've heard too, Soraxis. I'm not sure if they took towers and GYs too or just headed straight to the bosses.
The thing that bugs me as an Ally in the AVs I've done thus far is that everyone has to be doing the exact same thing all the time. With the exception of dumbasses fishing or doing pointless things, when we decided to try for Iceblood, EVERYONE went to IB. No one was left at SH to defend. So they'd tap SH and everyone would run back again. A little more tactics are in order. Like groups 2-5 take IB, group one (all rogues and druids) get behind the lines and ninja GYs to force them to divert resources and then the rest guard what you already have. Then, adjust the strategy accordingly. Need more at IB, move them there. Need help at SH, move some there.
Player-for-player, I think the sides are about even. People gripe about "terrain advantages" or "overpowered racials" which is also nonsense IMHO. The problem is strategy. The Horde uses it, the Alliance doesn't. Fortunately, there's some nice stuff I AB I like, so maybe I'll focus on that one.
Oh, and gratz again on 60, Lovely. This thread has not only been hijacked, it is now sitting in the hanger of a foreign government.

BTW... yeah. Soraxis has it right. I hate to give out strats.. but basically, if you guys left 20 people at the IBGY, while the others raced to take Snowfall, we'd get rolled at Iceblood, rez at stonehearth, group up, and then try for iceblood again probably. Once Iceblood is taken, the game is basically ours. Once that beachhead is established, and you have coordinated forces branching out to take down the towers nearby, along with killing Galvanger, the only thing that stands between us and Drek'Thar is the frostwolf and relief hut GYs, which we take simultaneously.
Iceblood has the greatest concentration of horde NPC defense which, along with a sizable player defense, could easily stop any alliance advance. This is where, IMHO, the horde has the advantage within Alterac Valley. The alliance defense is too spread out, and is easily bypassed, by simply running around to the west, coming up behind to the SH graveyard. You guys have to face maybe 10-15 guards and 1 commander at the actual GY itself to take Stonehearth. We have to face 30+ guards, 2 commanders (1 orc, 1 tauren), and 2 lieuts (Grummus and Murp) to take Iceblood.
Don't get me wrong.. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying.. Soraxis is right. We view AV as basically a PVE experience, and the way things go, we're not too far off. As someone who often gets posted to defend the stables alone when I play AB, I can tell you that 1 resourceful player can hold 3 people off the flag until reinforcements arrive (rez rush, etc).
NorthFace

BTW Xeran, flag ninjas for the purpose of making the enemy divert attention is really just prolonging the inevitable. The goal isn't to force the horde into their base... that just creates a massive standoff outside (Ie: Stormpike bridge).
The goal is to cut the horde force off from their base, so you're free to kill the NPCs, take the two towers, and kill Drek'thar while keeping them busy in the backfield. That's what makes for 30-40 minute games.
