Caede
04-13-2006, 03:47 AM
Caede awoke in a familiar spirit realm after being killed by Clys. It felt like eternity had passed since she had breathed her final breath and the awakening in a warm spirit realm. Once more, she met the gaze of her parents. They were none too pleased.

"How could you do this to yourself," spat Caede's mother angrily, "Sign yourself willingly to a forsaken. How could you do that? To commit yourself to such a painful death willingly? How could you do that? Tell me, you insolent child!"

Caede gazed at her mother, not saying anything for a moment. After a long pause, Caede began to speak slowly, "Father cursed me to damnation. To death. Do you not justify this as reason enough to die before my time? Before the slow curse consumed me?" No anger traced through Caede's druidic words, her eyes were cold and leveled with her parents'.

Silence passed once more, her father saying nothing and her mother still in shock. Caede spoke once more, "You did not know, mother? I figured he would have told you, since you two were supposedly very good friends before your marriage and my birth. Unless something changed?" Her father looked away before Caede raised her voice, "You did not tell her. You lied to her and told her it was just another way for me to kill myself, did you not? I am very disappointed in you, father. I thought I came from a stronger line." Anger pierced Caede's voice then before another pause of silence ensued.

Another moment, and her father spoke, "What is it that you wish from me, child? A new life? Without my curse? Without you friends, and family? What is it that you really want? A way to win him over once more? Please, you cannot even keep yourself alive to prove your worth to anyone. Simply let the dead rest, daughter. You are not wanted in the realm of life."

"You are hardly one to talk, father," said Caede defiantly, "You threw away your life simply because you could not handle having a child with no mother to take care of her. You abandoned the life you had. I embraced mine, father, you denied your's. What I want is you to give me the life I was meant to have lived, not the hell you placed me in. The curse you gave me has been defeated. I won, father, I am stronger than you now. Give me what I deserve. Give me a life without that pain."

Caede's defiant words seem to strike her father's spirit down, and he collapsed down onto his knees. He knelt there for a while, his hands on the ground and his head bent. Caede's mother looked over to the man beside her, she sighed softly, "I will give you my life, dauther. The one I was to live before I died."

Time passed slowly, Caede standing before her father's kneeling form. They both waited for a response from each other. Another moment, and Caede's father began to speak, "Your memories will be gone. You will see faces, but not remember where from. Are you sure you want this? You shall still remain the Princess of Cenarius, but are you sure you can live without remembering your family and your friends?"

Caede hesitated, then noded, "I can, and I will."

Slowly, the man stood and Caede's mother turned to face him. They took each other's hands and spoke softly, "We give you life once more."

With that, Caede slowly felt her body materialize in a wrap of warmth. The spirit realm faded with her last glimpse of her parents holding each other in a warm embrace. Slowly, things came to be in the mortal world, memories slipped from Caede's mind.

When Caede awoke, she was alone and in a bed. She slowly smiled and sat up, rubbing her eyes. Its good to be alive, she thought to herself before slowly getting out of bed. Even though my childhood seems like a past memory, I am glad to be here. Caede smiled into a mirrior and brushed a lock of hair from her face before dressing in a simple dress and wandering out to her garden. She looked up into the sky of the Moonglade. She was happy to be there, even if she wasn't quite sure how.

Caede hummed quietly to herself as she tended to the flowers in the small garden. Life had been good to her. She smiled and reflected on her memories. Sure, her parents had abandoned her with death but over all things had turned out just fine. Recently she had been crowned Princess, and treated as such. Caede paused, in tending the flowers to stroke the purple petals. Sometimes she saw faces that had no names, she would think of things that never happened. Caede laughed to herself, what a fool.

"Princess," said a Tauren in druidic, "Come hither."

Caede stood slowly, brushing dirt off her hands and gazing at the Tauren. A smile flashed over her face, yes life had been good. The Tauren extended her hand. Caede took it and they began to run up the path to Nighthaven. Caede laughed joyously, holding up her skirts with her free hand so she wouldn't trip. The Moonglade was and always will be her home. The place where she was born and raised, among the high druids that protected the Moonglade. Caede and the Tauren reached a house and quickly went in. The Tauren released Caede's hand and the princess smoothed her skirts.

The Tauren smiled and brushed some hair from Caede's face, "Come. The elders call."

Caede nodded while smiling, "Thank you Faun." Caede quickly embraced Faun before continuing to the small Moonwell that was before her. Around the Moonwell stood many druids, much more knowledgable and stronger than Caede. She knelt down before the ring of elder's, waiting for what they wished of her.

"Princess Caede," began one, "A task lies before you that will be easy enough to complete. We wish for you to leave the Moonglade to learn. Your whole life you have lived here and rarely experianced the outside world. Although you have taken many a trip to Darnassius, we wish for you to experiance more and gain a reputation as a representative of the Moonglade and the druids of both Night Elf and Tauren. Caede, are you up to the task we put forth to you?"

Caede nodded, "Yes, I accept what you wish for me to do. As the Princess of Cenarius, I shall do what you ask."

The elders looked to each other and nodded, "You are dismissed."

Caede slowly stood and bowed before walking back to Faun. The Tauren and Night Elf embraced, no tears were shead.

"You're leaving soon, aren't you," asked Faun.

Caede nodded, holding the Tauren tightly. Caede softly whispered, "No tears. Do not cry, Faun. You are my pillar of strength. Don't break down now when I need you."

Faun nodded, holding the small Night Elf. It was hard keeping the truth from Caede, her one true friend. A moment passed before Faun pulled away and extracted a book from a bag. She held it out to Caede. She took it and ran her fingers over the blue leather bound book that had shimmering druidic runes pressed into it. Caede opened the book and flipped through its blank pages.

"Write in it, Caede," said Faun. "Write about your days, and what is going on. Don't leave a single detail out, okay? Put your most personal thoughts in the book and keep it with you always." Faun smiled and took Caede's shoulders, "Just so you can tell me about everything that happens while you're gone."

Caede nodded, smiling and holding the book close, "Thank you, Faun. I will."

The Tauren brought the young Night Elf back into a warm embrace before sending her away to pack her bags. Faun watched Caede walk away with gentle interest. Life has been bad to her, Faun thought, but at least now she's got a shot to get over it.

The trek to Moonglade was well known to Clys. She had traveled there many times in the past, for various reasons. It wasn't a place she spent much time in, usually, but it was familiar to her.

Her reason for going there this time was a peaceful one. She wanted to learn the end of the story, or perhaps it was the beginning. That was the question.

I don't really know if she'll show up here, thought Clys. But it does seem the most likely point of return. Even if she does return here, it could be in the future, in another body I don't recognize...who knows? But I need to look, at least. I'd like to know what happened to her.

The shifting shadows in the Moonglade made it easy for Clys to wander unnoticed, and she investigated each living area, each nook and cranny of the glade. Laughter rang out and Clys turned to see from whence it came. A nightelf and a tauren were embracing, and Clys stopped to watch for a moment. Druids. Different on the outside, but inside, the same.

The words of the nightelf reached Clys' ears.

"No tears. Do not cry, Faun. You are my pillar of strength. Don't break down now when I need you."

Clys smiled softly to herself, nodding. She watched for a moment more, before turning to go. It was Caede's voice, no doubt about it.

"Good luck, druid," whispered Clys.
