Lok'tar!

For far too long have the old hatreds held sway. Honor, Justice and Peace are all but forgotten concepts to most on Azeroth.

Sanctuary raises its banner, for all those who believe we can step beyond what fate has dealt us. We challenge those who believe that war is the only recourse. We bring retribution to those who engender hatred and prejudice, be they Horde or Alliance.

((
Sanctuary has reached the point where our infrastructure is capable supporting full scale recruitment.

We are a newly established, roleplaying-PvP, guild looking for mature players age 25+.
We have an equal focus on both RP and PvP.

From a roleplaying perspective, we wish to bring about an end to the war between The Horde and The Alliance. OOC this presents many unique opportunities for world PvP.

We are also focused on cross-faction interaction and will be looking to organise events involving both Horde and Alliance guilds, not all of them PvP in nature.

Additionally, although we may remain a smaller guild, integration with the Nether Council will allow us to provide end-game raiding to any of our high level members who wish to be involved in it.

For more information head over to Sanctuary Recruitment (http://sanctuary.seekret.info/viewforum.php?f=35) and read the procedure for joining up with us.

(( pst. I recomend copypasting procedures in here so they can think of if they want to join or not before they have to make an account at your forums. It's a bit faster that way. )

There you have it.

Thanks Angrun, we're gonna have to get you a red cape and your choice of colored spandex with optional nipples embossed on the chestpiece.

((I'm sure Enheilras will correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't "Throm'ka!" be the more appropriate greeting? Just a thought.))

((thats like saying "sup" is worse than "yo" as a casual greeting...it doesnt really matter which we use right?

Looks like an awesome guild btw, good luck :)))

((Now, I'm awfully fuzz on this, but I'd swear "Throm'ka" was a more casual and friendly greeting, whereas "Lok'tar!" was along the lines of "To battle!" which wouldn't be appropriate for a peaceful guild.))

((you could be right there))

Lok'tar Ogar means "Strength and Honor!" and is a battlecry.

Throm'ka is a formalized greeting, but may not be used to address Non-Horde (Forsaken).

It's use here is weary. I would have simply used "Lok'Tar!" as it is a military greeting/farewell as well, and is genderless and factionless.

Does the greeting even matter? You can put in some random orcish gibberish there and most people will still accept it as a greeting.

((Peacefull is a relative term here :D The peace we seek will not come solely through negotiation. In fact, those who oppose peace often only understand actions, usually at the business end of an axe. I don't see a battle cry as innapropriate for our guild at all, especially something meaning 'Strength AND Honor'.

Thanks for the info though, I spent a while searching for orcish greetings, and couldn't get hold of the meanings. Changed now.

Where do you find this stuff EnheilRas? I really would like to find more sources for orcish lore.))

I own five WarCraft Games.

It was really just a matter of linguistic arts. A lot of the Orcs throughout the game, though comical, say a lot of Orcish. All you really have to do is write down in what context the words are said, how they are used, and in what situation they replace words one would normally suspect. You then place this over their society, one of extreme nationalist socialism. You show this over a culture turned into a spartan-like civilization, based on a savage warfare.

I dunno.. just takes a proper mindset I s'pect.
