Well here's my latest! Since someone said (Thaena?) that my pic of Vil lacked expression, I've been trying to combine the expressions I use in my usual style with my painting. I figured that Vil is known for her aloofness, so I decided to give the classic "He said WHAT!?!?!?" expression on her face.

Now, here's the experement.

The first person to post in this thread (who actually wants one.. lolz) I will draw you a portrait in this style. I can't make promises that I'll do a ton of these, since I have no idea how much longer my job is gonna be this slooooow. So! Whoever posts first will be my experement.

Aaaand.. go!

CHINGASO WINS!!

EDIT: Assuming he wants it..? If so, Chingaso, what kinda expression do you want? I was considering the, "I SO didn't grab Vilmah's butt" expression from Molten Core.

Okay, if Chingaso doesn't reply by today then Skafloc gets it.

A "That's a new one!" look on his face would be kinda fun, I think!

So... when are you going to post that pic you drew for me?

Vilmah
04-12-2007, 11:15 AM
That's flatwork! This is work I'm doing at work! And I'm not pleased with that drawing.. I may do it over.. my skills have grown dramatically, over the past few months.

I think a drawing like that for Shadow would be.... difficult, i guess?

Undead can't be easy to draw into this kinda' art. Lotsa wrinkles and other features.

Vilmah

That's kinda the point, Shad. I'm going for cartoony expressions with realistic coloring.

Then you have permission to draw me if you would like... but I know you wont... but I'm not going to be like 8/10 of the other people jumping around going "ME ME! OVER HERE! MEEEE!!"

Either way i think you did a pretty good drawing there. Thats what I'de picture Vil as.

Vilmah

That is a good point. Don't feel like you have to draw anything, I just tossed it out to you as an idea for an expression exercise. I love your art whomever you wind up drawing when you have the desire and time.

eh, I already got one for Tubruk way back when, so I am content.

Fallacy

Well, I wouldn't expect you to be able to do one of Fallacy, since he has nothing to have an emotion on his face with. No lips, no cheeks, no eyebrows... That's why I just turn his head in certain ways to give a sense of emotion.

Expression suggestion: "I didn't do it. Really."

Chingaso is replying. Again. What part of first post was not clear. Vultures...

There's the always-classic, "Omigawd, hufarted?" look.

I have the opposite problem to Vil. Anatomy is where my problem lies, expression I usually get down pat. Like in the vector-work I've done in past on a certain Video Game character. You try and get some sort of expression on something that doesn't even show a face.

It becomes a lot about lighting, text... you can get a really dramatic or really silly look on something by changing the colors, even if the facial expression doesn't change.

I really should actually try doing some sketches of Dio's face to do some expressive stuff, but I'm only even barely good with human anatomy, let alone Tauren. And I hate working off 5 pages of reference pictures that don't even really suit the thing I'm drawing. I wish the drawing classes I did were actually any good, but no, before we can learn anatomy we have to learn to do shading first.

I got no problem with expressions, it's just expressions in this particular style that eluded me. I think I got it now, though.

Well if it makes you feel any better, the eyes freaked me out when I opened the window and saw the picture fully loaded. >.>

Vil's eyes? Why??

Chikt

No idea. I think it just caught me by suprise. I flipped over from another website and got met with these big yellow eyes, and did a little wee.

Hehehe, they're so big and friendly, tho'! Imagine those big eyes leading you into battle!

Vilmah: "For great justice!"

Nojinbu: "Big... pretty... yellow eyes... huh? Oh! Right!"
