It was poking fun about the nutty yelling and chaos at the first attempted opening of AQ.

I respect Zust's moderation, so I'm not reposting the poem, but I want to be clear: it wasn't rude, crude, insulting, or made at anyone's expense.

Some folks found it funny -- three people that evening asked me to post it here. I'm sorry you didn't, Zust, but in no way did I mean to "spam" or post something "stupid" and "annoying."

I wish I'd had a chance to read it and judge for myself. If it had been offensive or against forum rules, I can see locking a person's thread which kills the thread and gradually drops it off the first page as other posts knock it further down, but actual deletion of threads ranks right up there with censorship to me.

I did read the exact same post on the main forums, and have to say I simply found the post rather annoying. If I recall, it was 3 single line posts with some leetspeak which didn't say anything of any value. I was expecting something on what happend at the gate opening and instead just found more noise.

I can understand Zust's moderation in this instance. I'm sorry if you were offended by having it deleted, but for me, what makes this forum, is a lack of unnecesary posts, making it easier to find the stuff I want to read.

As one who was at the opening in question and in the middle of all the chaos, I laughed. Captured the tone of it very well in a way I never would have described it.

I personally would love to have the power to delete posts I didn't understand or find annoying. But that would make for a crap forum, wouldn't it?

If you're going to have a heavy hand in deleting posts make sure you have clear guidelines for what is appropriate and what isn't. And in all things like this, it's usually best to err on the side of caution. If you don't understand something give it some time, perhaps someone will come along with a comment to clear things up.

I didn't see anything in the forum rules that justified this. If you can't point to a specific, then perhaps that means it shouldn't be deleted. Might be a good test to run through your mind when deciding about whether to delete a post or not.

Simply a suggestion for how to think about these things in the future. Moderation of forums is necessary but should be done with a careful, generous hand, I think.

I used to bartend to make ends meet when I was in college (the first time *ahem*). I will always remember my boss telling me that he will 100% support any decision I make, even if I decided to 86 one of the bars best customers and the bar collapses from the lost revenues.

And while I never 86'd anyone (that I remember), just knowing that I didn't have to worry about dealing with an unruly customer made my job much easier.

To everyone complaining about the moderation: In the end, this IS a private forum. I try to provide as friendly, open, and censure free an environment as possible. I apologise if Zusteakai got a bit zealous, but he WAS trying to provide you with a comfortable, asshat free zone to communicate in.

I hadn't seen you post much, and so I just thought we finally had a forum moron come in. Sorry for the confusion.
No worries. And it's a good thing to have Forum moderation. I just wanted to be clear that I wasn't in any way trying to clog the Forums or waste anyone's time.

Single-line posts, yes. (One was "*ahem*", which I thought, as a single post, gave the sense of someone making an overly dramatic pause. I can see it didn't work for you. But it wasn't "spam.")

And, yes, it included some l33tspeak, which I hate. But I was trying to give a sense of what everyone was shouting there.

I suppose I could have made a post that just said,
"Wasn't it annoying that everyone kept yelling to draw attention to themselves?"
And "why were people killing Bateman?"
And "when is Blizzard going to update its servers?"

I just thought it would be more fun to post this:

Absolutely. I never disagreed with your ability to delete posts as you choose.

And I'm not arguing with anyone who thought what I posted wasn't funny. Sorry it didn't work for you.

But since all that was left was a note about my "spamming," I wanted to be clear that I never intended such a thing, never intended to "annoy" or disrespect anyone here.
