OOC:

Allo everyone... just wanted to provide you with fair warning. Soraxis sent me a PM informing me that the War Effort horde-side is now finally complete. Assuming the server is stable tonight, I expect the gates to be opened tonight, probably late after our MC run. Possibly before, who knows. If any of you are familiar with the event, it casts the entire server into massive turmoil for about 24 hours... so you may wish to be a bit more careful during that time. We may end up waiting until we're actually ready to raid the place before opening... but regardless...

The war of the shifting sands is about to be revived.

Enormous skyscraper-sized bugs spawned throughout the world that require a raid to down?

Sounds like fun. :D

Not to mention the ones that bulldoze the major cities, and even the new areas?

They won't be able to open the gates until the supplies are transported to Silithus, which shouldn't be until after the reset on Tuesday. The world event won't happen, 'cause Blizzard is like that.

It's only a ten hour event from the time it opens to... well, ten hours.

The "floating crystals" of DOOM will show up where all the silithid nests are ( heard the Gadgetzan one is the most fun, since it appears right in the middle of the town ). I haven't heard of any bugs attacking the major cities... but then I wasn't there when it happened (On CC, was in Zul'Farrak... lag? Yesssssssss)

I could be wrong, but - that is what I have read from the guys at Medivh and the blah blah blahing from Heaven and Earth from Cenarion Circle.

Heh, saw Bateman running around Silithus, between Cenarion Hold and the Scarab Wall. I almost ganked him, but by the time I was able to stealth and walk up to him, he rode off... first on his epic, than his not? Crazy Alliance players.

...

Some Novus were following him around too, and NOT killing him. Bwhahahaha! Talk about some dirt on the sissy boys and girls.

*thumbs up*

Just don't ruin my LBRS run - god knows I have to be selfish.

~Expects the gate opening to be RPed.. instead of lawl'ed

It actually will take 5 days after everything has been gathered and stuff for the armies to be assembled, so we're not quite starting tonight...

Aye. I've been through that event on my 60 on Bloodscalp.

Massive crystals float around mind-controlling people to become their protectors. My warrior got mind-controlled and I went after a couple 40-somethings before it released me. :( There are also giant anubis-like guys that appear. I don't think it takes a whole 40-man raid to take one down (like the Calling boss), but it takes a coordinated effort of more than 5 60s to be sure.

Unfortunately, the crystals spawn in many places where 60s don't go a lot (like the Barrens or places in Feralas) so there will be a lot of lowbies screaming for help. It's pretty crazy.

Glad to hear, however, that the gates will be opening.

Ok.. update on the situation. Assuming things are in-place for us to do so, they'll be opened on monday evening. = )

Probably between 5 & 7 pm server time.

I'm actually an English teacher - first year. We don't get records days off anymore. Not even 1/2 days. They use them for "professional development" instead.

Depends what you are teaching, some have to remain up to date in their domain or make new material during summer, but yeah, teachers do get more vacation. They also have to put up with students, God knows I would'nt do that.... wait, I'm in tech support, I have to put up with accountants that can't use our software properly, oh noes !

I guess it's just a grass is greener thing - all said it equals out. I'd be willing to work all year - by the way with coaching 2 sports I get a total summer vacation of 36 days, 16 of those being weekends that most everyone gets - if it meant going home was the end of my day, as opposed to 152 papers any time I assign one. Most people that work all year might be like "sure, I'll take 1-2 hours of work home with me after 11-12 hour days every night to get a month off."

Then again I teach English. Lots of (normal people) teachers don't have to deal with that, and are pretty much done when the bell rings and don't coach at all.

...those people suck.

Heh. I gave up on teaching English to sell toys instead. More money, only 36 hours a week, and if work does come home with you, it's fun!

I still would've liked to teach, it just didn't seem to be in the cards and this job was too sweet to pass up.

/respect to teachers!

/rude to coaches (sorry, still carry fat-kid angst)

I would have to agree with that, teachers have to do a LOT of work at home, especially those who give written assignments, like english teachers. All jobs have their up and down sides. The important thing is to love what you do.

Like me, I love tech support, great pay, lots of down time in between calls. The only drawback is the hours. We can't do anything about them and we have to service throughout Canada, so I can work anytime between 8 and 20 o'clock eastern with overtime from time to time evenings and weekends.

Not for everyone though, you get screamed at, you have to help people over the phone who do not have a clue how to operate a computer, or you get know-it-all that question your solutions.

hehe, guess I'll shut up now before I start a fight :P

But I talk to my kids about our d&d/roleplaying games and comics! That's gotta give me some negative jock points, right?

Anyway - we should set up some common meeting spaces for when poo starts hitting the fan and move from spot to spot. Then maybe some alliance/horde groups can run into each other and cooperate.

Or kill eachother...

Guess we'll see

I'd say the latter is more likely.

P.S.: Damn, an engish teacher reads these boards? Note to self: spell and grammar check ALL FUTURE POSTS. O_o

Monday evening, eh?

Going to be a lot of folk trying to get that honor going until the Tuesday shut down. Also... might be lagtastic, prior to the opening.

...

Can I gank Bateman? I'll do it, unless Celethorn is there - I'll gank him over Bateman.

AbricOOC
~Really would n- well, would Celethorn.

Abric you're more than welcome to try to gank Bateman. Just be aware that he'll be surrounded by... well... A good number of the alliance level 60s. :D

...Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

On topic:
I actually showed up for a little bit near the end of this stuff on Silver Hand. I can't wait to see how much more crazy it all is on a server with the PvP ruleset.

AHA! The paddle ball obsession make perfect sense to me now!

Re Teaching: I teach Military Communications/IT Technology to Naval Communications folk. No 'summer' off for me, but its only a 3-4 year posting, then back to the fleet in an operational capacity. (Which means no WoW for weeks/months on end.. yikes!)

Back to topic, I imagine /World Defence will be active. Did we want to try to set up 'ready reaction' forces strategically placed in the most common spawning zones? Does anyone who has seen this event before know where those are, or is it random? I saw Gadgetzan mentioned..

Daedraug

As much as I want to get together, especially with other tng people, I think we'd be shooting ourselves in the RP foot if we did any more than "scouts report activity at the gates, rally at __________ and prepare the defense," or somesuch thing. Honestly, I want to know as little as possible going in to Mon. night so I can react and rp the whole thing out.

So what -exactly- is going to happen? I hear random bug attacks all over the sodding place. That about it? Shite, son!
