View Full Version : Is Alliance-side TNG as RP-licious as Horde-side?

I got a 42 Draenei Warrior on Ravenholdt... and RP absolutely sucks there. The best Heavy RP guild I could find just does OOC chatter all the time. Nothing else. And the RP channel has been used so little, there are cobwebs.

I'm honestly thinking of doing a paid transfer to TN.

Depends, Horde RP is very active in channels, and then person to person rp seems to extend from groups. Alliance is much more interactive in world rp, channels just dont seem to run as well. Horde also has more rpers.

Horde rp does have some issues though...as Im finding out...

Alright, to recap, if I'm reading correctly, Horde RP rules (as I know), however Alliance is less channels and more world rp. But, there's more Horde TNGers.

So... to transfer or not to transfer?

Well, my character is a low-level Draenei, and I know of a few other people who play Draenei... so I'll hang out if you want!

Transfer. The fact that Alliance has become a little RP lite is exactly WHY you need to do it! The RP is there, and wouldn't it be great if BOTH sides went back to being thick with it?

Sorry Sanrin, but you are wrong here. I know Emmons said something about the 'doodspeak' people coming up when your roleplaying in /s out in the open, but the truth is the only one I've encountered recently is a fates Hand member I directly talked to.

Even struck up a conversation at the bank with Skaffy and no one 'griefed' or anything.

There is PLENTY of open roleplaying in Silvermoon. You can nearly allways find someone wandering around the city (like myself) or sitting around the taverns. The tavern in Murder Row seems to be the most prevelant.

Having experienced both sides of the fence on TN I have to agree with Rhowen. The RP Alliance side is indeed there, and its a lot more prevalent than one might think. Unfortunately their participation here on TNG is light.

If I had to point to a cause, its mainly due to the misconception a lot have that TNG is a Horde RP community. Nothing could be further from the truth. having said that I am really pleased that folk like Lelenia, Thaena, Marlexis, Sanrin, Angawen, Pythre, etc.. ( if I missed anyone I am sorry.. I just took a cross section) are keeping the torch lit and promote RP often Alliance side.

Absolutely there is pleanty of RP to be found on the Alliance side. Having poked about on both sides I can say that it's not quite as... in your face.. as Horde RP here, but it is there. If you like channel RP we are working on promoting the use of the two main RP channels on the Alliance side. If you like more face to face RP, I have noticed that about 3/4 of the time if I start emoting and roleplaying someone in the immediate area will jump in with more RP. I'm also friendly to the idea of starting regular face to face gatherings to promote Alliance RP, but I'd need to start a poll on when people are available for such a thing.

Anywho, if you did decide to transfer, please put me on your friend's list! I'm always happy to help people find some RP!

Also, there seems to be a nice community of Draenei RPers springing up. We could capitalize on that!

Yes! I have been thinking of purchasing a goat herd for the estates.. fresh goat milk and feta cheese and all that..

How many heads in your "community?" Is there a goat herder I can contact?

I think Tirisfalen and the other Honor Guard guilds (not the only examples, but the ones I am most familiar with) have made a decent name for ourselves over here in regard to RP, but the face of rp alliance side -is- a bit different than what it looks like on the horde side of the fence. Global channels are not very sucessful over here, though the Honor Guard's gnomish communicator channel is lots of fun if you end up in a guild affiliated with them. Face to face RP and written storylines tend to be just as popular over here as they are horde-side, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to interact in-character with people in the game world. On the Alliance side, guild tags are definitely the easiest way to separate the rp'ers from the non-rp'ers.

It's hard to gauge actual numbers, since there is definitely a smaller representation of the Alliance players here at the TNG than the horde players, but Nouri/Lupa would be a good person to paint you a total picture of both sides since he's been active in both factions with some of the bigger rp groups to be found.

Yes, so we've heard... :-)

On the RP/Honor Guard note, as a Draenei, you may want to consider the recently formed, all Draenei guild, the Scions of Argus. (( http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=143329&TabID=1217759 ))

(( Scions of Argus is an invention thought up by some of the IFR (Ironforge Regiment) members and, while they only just formed with the release of BC expansion and are still just getting started, they are run by a former officer of the IFR who stepped back from being an IFR officer (but still an IFR member) to run this new guild with a few volunteers as their primary mission. ))

The Scions are also an applicant guild of the "Honor Guard" alliance (( http://honorguard.dunedainrangers.net )), which is composed of Alliance guilds devoted to protecting the lands of Azeroth from invasion at hands of the Horde and the Burning Legion.

Actually, there would be a lot of good RPers Ally-side if they hadn't all gone of to play Belfs... >.>

But actually, Alliance RP is better than a lot of people think if you find the right people. And if you don't know the right people, just run around shouting things in /y. It works for me at least. =)

As another very new comer to Twisted Nether I have to say I'm quite pleased so far with my rp experiences on my baby Draenei shaman. The alliance side rp does not seem to be organized as the horde, but it is there and readily available. Had a blast the other night with some spontaneous rp revolving around the early draenei quest that temp. disguises you as a blood elf. Did it all in local and not only did no one grief, but a few people joined in with a good spirit.

Still looking for a rp alliance guild though.... :)

The RP alliance guilds aren't loud about it. They do their thing, they rock out with their respective genitals covered by some sort of protective shield, and they kick some ass that a lot of people don't see if they don't pay attention.

And I'm the first to admit, there are days that I miss being Alliance-side on TN. Yes, I took some of my best RP friends with me when I switched factions, but there are TONS of awesome RPers Alliance-side that I'd kill to get one more night with.

Oh, TN Alliance. The one that got away. <3

A good number of them play on Sentinels now instead.

I will always preffer my Horde, not because of RPers but because.. well.. it's the Horde. Play the side you enjoy the best, not because of the people, but because you enjoy the side. Not enough RPers? Get some more into it! A few members of Sanct weren't RPers until I made them RP *shakes a fist* and they ended up being big contributers.
