Hushed words passed in the dim lantern light of the Inn's upper floor.
"When I was a boy may father told the tale of a creature not seen in centuries. The legend spoke of a great bird of black and crimson; a harbinger of chaos and death which rained blood from its wings that scorched the earth where it fell as it flew above the land. It only appeared in the most dire of times; mere conflict or violence were not enough to bring it into the world. It is said that the beast straddles the lines between the realms of death, the abyss, and our own; and that it will come again when the world is set to burn in chaos and slaughter."
"What was this creature's name, Dae?" Netherlyn was as intensely focused on his words as she had ever been.
"The Blood Raven. I believe if we take it as our sigil, our totem, it may give us the conviction necessary to do what we must," I answered. The dwarf nodded slowly in agreement. The lack of mettle seen in the members they had allowed to join The Blackwatch was the reason for their break from their former allies and the gathering they were now in the midst of.
"It is decided then," Netherlyn proclaimed, "The Blackwatch is no more. Know all of you that the path we turn down has no opportunity for refusal once it is set upon. Our lives and souls belong to eachother, and neither is too precious to risk for the cause."
Our silence was answer enough.
"Then let it be known," I offered, pulling my dagger from its home. "Here is the proof of my intentions."
I drew the blade across my thumb and made my mark upon the parchment before me. The others followed suit, our lives mixing together on the metal and page. Netherlyn rolled it up and pressed her signet to a seal.
We rose and departed to tie up any loose ends remaining in our lives. Haldren needed to make his withdrawl from the order formal, and I needed to gather my sister. As we walked from the room we all felt the weight of our new lives.
We were now Oathbound, and there was no turning back.
((Just a small introduction to our guild for whom it may concern so you know who the heck we are when you see our banner. We're a small RP guild with main members in the mid 40's to upper 50's (5-6) and assorted alts and newer folk. Feel free to include us or invite us to any events, rp raids, get togethers, or contact us ooc; we're always looking to make new friends and allies. Our characters are evolving and growing, and more interaction with others would be great.))
