That's against the RP rules!

Report him to the GM for name violation!

The Rogue NPC in the Tavern more than makes up for Haris Pilton.

"Real Rogues don't use Feint"

The better rogue would be the Alliance one that makes fun of all rogues that use maces. He is amazing.

Haris Pilton was put in specifically for Brakogar to entice him to come back to WoW to gank her ass.

I agree.. its uncannily close to the "Restaurant at the End of the Universe."

I wonder if they roll out a gnome so you can "Meet the Meat.."

Oh.. and Thrallmar has a " Floyd Pinkus." now thats too cool!! :D

Actually she does have a very similar line in world's end: something along the lines of "I discourage all the young rogues from using maces and the like. You'll end up with nothing but a noisy, messy kill with those things."

WoW has always made inside jokes about all sorts of pop culture. From Lario and Muigen (sp may be wrong) in ungoro along with Linken, to Jordy Lapforge and various other star trek spoofs, there is even an Amilia Airheart flightmaster at spinebreaker post in hellfire peninsula. I just laugh at inclusions like this and take them as they were intended, small easter eggs meant to give people a laugh.

For some literary freaks there are also author names mismatched. I can't quite remember the one in the UC that always makes me smirk. But they're there. The author name, with the book they've written.

The alchemy supplier in UC is Algernon. That's a great literary allusion.

As far as goofy literary allusions go, Hemet Nesingwary is one of my favourites.

Ellsbeth, my personal favourite. Three NPCs, Charles, Dexter, Ward. From HP Lovecraft's story of "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward", one of my favourite stories... Ever.

I thought the World's End Tavern was a Sandman reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sandman:_Worlds'_End

"Slim"
<Shady Dealer>

I love his dialog text too, something along the lines of "I am neither Slim, nor Shady, and I find both references to be insulting."

In HFP, there's a goblin zepplin crash, and one of the quest reward options is Flintlocke's Piloting Pants.

Not a reference to the "Restaurant at the End of the Universe" so much as it is a direct reference to World's End (a story arc in The Sandman by Neil Gaiman) in which characters from multiple existences and times congregate at a tavern called, World's End because of a universe/reality spanning storm.

(The Sandman is a comic by DC/Vertigo comics btw, one of the best comic book series ever written. not to impune Douglas Adams or anything)

The bankers in Stormwind are Olivia, Newton and John.

Then in Ironforge two of the bankers are Barnum and Bailey.

My favorite out of them all has got to be the goblin Shauly Pore, who resides in the Netherstorm at "Eco-Dome Midrealm."

Yes, huge Douglas Adams fan here. He and I seemed to share a lot of the same wry outlooks on the human condition, ( or the condition of small furry creatures fro Alpha Centauri ).

Yes, I think you are right about The Sandman being the inspiration for the Inn. It fits much better.

EDIT * Little known fact. Douglas Adams was a gamer..
