- Twisting Nether Role Play Outreach Commitee -
A group of individuals, (Maybe get a badge on the site for being a member) who recruit people to tn.yzeens actively. Go about whispering people in the RP channel or anyone who RPs around them for that matter asking them about their character's background and getting to know them. To increase the RP community. *nods*
Members would:
1) Make "Twisting Nether Gazette" adverts in General / Guild Advertisment channel
2) Be friendly and open Roleplayers reaching out to their guilds and local communities.
3) Welcome new members to the site and answer questions they may have.
(( Comments and suggestions would help. ^^ ))

Sorry, somehow missed this (stupid cookie bug).
1. Advertising is a tricky business. You get more good people, and, unfortunately, you tend to get more bad people. I wouldn't want advertising in general, but an "every now and then" thing in Guild probably wouldn't be too bad since the only people in that channel are unguilded new people and guild recruiters.
I have noticed that on the official boards that if anyone asks about RP on TN, that usually within 2 or 3 replies SOMEONE links to TNG. Even non-TNGers do it, which is freaking awesome, hehe.
2. I see this already in action, but more couldn't hurt :)
3. We have a bunch of people doing this unofficially, and I think it works better that way. You know those Walmart greeters, sometimes you really like that they smiled and waved, and sometime you wish you'd driven 5 miles to a different store so you don't get creeped out.
There is something I *would* like to see more of, and with Laron taking off, it's not happening as much lately. People responding to people's first RP posts in Nether Legends or the Improvised Interactive. Most of you are old hat at this posting business, but there was probably a time when you posted your very first story on a public forum and you waited apprehensively for someone to respond.
It really sucks the creativitiy out of you when you post something you really like and nobody even bothers to say "that's great" or "that sucked" or, what 90% of people want, to actually have someone interact with you.
I haven't done any statistics, but I would guess the people who posted and stayed and became part of the community were more likely to have done so if they wrote something that got the attention and praise of one or more people. Positive Reinforcement, or whatever the psych name for it is.
Even if you didn't care for the style or maybe their English skills weren't top notch, it's still good to encourage people to write more. Ask any professional writer (or professional *whatever, for that matter), practice is how they got good at what they do. Genius is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration I think is how the saying goes.
Anyway, sorry I didn't see this earlier. I don't mind making a special rank if people want to beome "official greeters" or whatever you want to call them :)

I pimp the TNG like crazy to any RP-ers I meet, but I don't do advertisements in the channels. I do post the link often on the official forums when I frequent them.
I did want to point out this part, though, because I think it should be highlighted. I, for one, found it really scary to post my first peice. Hell, I still find it intimidating. I thrive on comments, I'll admit it. I like having my ego stroked. And I appreciate criticsm, too. How else am I going to get any better? The worst is feeling ignored. Throwing yourself out there and having no one say anything.
Praise, or constructive criticsm, or anything to show that they aren't being completely ignored is important for everyone, -especially the newbies-. Now, I'm not very good at posting comments on stories myself, but I pledge to start. I would hate for newcomers to be driven away for lack of attention.
Hopefully we can all start to work on this.
