A region of great conflict and chaoes, a land of bloodshed without purpose or reason...

The land of Hillsbrad Foothills:

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/map1.JPG

This region has bore witness to so many deaths, the land is stained with the blood of countless heroes. Yet there has been no victories, no conquest only the bones of Horde and Alliance heroes who rotting beneath the earth after a worthless death.

Both the Horde and the Alliance claim ownership of Hillsbrad Foothills, the reason for so many pointless skirmishes.

Within the region they have stablished two opposing unconquerable settlements...

The Horde settlement of Tarren Mill to the East

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/Tarrenmill.JPG

The Alliance town of South Shore to the South West

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/Southshore.JPG

Over a long time the Alliance has sent so many of their warriors to lay siege to the town of Tarren Mill, but failed in a pointless death. In return the Horde has sent their Warriors to attack South Shore but perished in the same brutal way. This bloody cycle has gone on for what seems like an eternity with neither side ever getting the upper hand or able to declare victory, only defeat.

There appears to be no way of winning, no coquests no true Victories.

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/fighting.JPG

This has created great frustration and animosity between both sides since neither can ever gain the upper hand, only mourn their comrades without a way to give meaning to their deaths.

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/demongate2.JPG

With the eminent threat of the Sillith growing ever closer threatening to anihilate both sides it seems impossible that the Horde and the Alliance will ever put aside their differences in order to united against them as long as such unresolved disputes continue.

As long as unresolved conflicts like Hillsbrad Foothills remain with no clear victor it will be impossible

The need for both the Alliance and the Horde to put aside their differences to combat this threat has arrived.

It is up to two great leaders to find a solurion to this once and for all.

The noble and wise Thrall, Warchief of the Horde

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/Thrall.JPG

and the great Magni Bronzebeard.

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/bronzebeard.JPG

Both Thrall and Bronzebeard concluded that the only way to settle the Hillsbrad stalemate is through and honorable battle, a battle between two great armies in the field between both towns!

A great, fair battle that will finaly decide a true undisputed Victor that can trully lay claim Hillsbrad Foothills as their own. This is the only way that the stalemate will end once and for all.

The loosing town will have to exist under the occupation and shadow of the victor...

http://www.geocities.com/wow_frostwolf/pics2/demongate.JPG

Both leaders then go to prepare their armies for a battle that will finaly seal the fate of Hillsbrad Foothills.

The Battlefield awaits...

ooc:

This is the battle that I have been speaking of for some weeks now. This is the battle that will settle who owns Hillsbrad Foothills with a clear winner and looser. The battle is open ended so skill and organisation will decide the winner

The goal of the event is to push the bulk of the opposing army to the graveyard of their town. Once this is accomplished the battle will be over and the winner declared the owners of Hillsbrad Foothills ((in RP)) while the loosing town lives in occupation.

The stages and rules are very simple:

1) Both sides march in an militaristic and organised manner from their towns and meet in the open area between Southshore and Tarren Mill as a organised armies. No army is to engage in combat until both the leaders discuss terms.

2) The Guild leaders present meet the opposing leaders mounted in the centerfield in order to discuss the terms of the battle while their troops stand in line opposite the opposing force ((RP side of event))

3) Once battle terms are discussed (I doubt anyone will settle for a peaceful solution :P ) the leaders will retreat to their side for the battle.

4) The battle shall begin when a signal is given (fireworks or similar)

5) To start the battle with an RP-PvP epic feel, each side will send warriors (and other tanks) charging at each other as 1st wave while caster and support classes are sent in a close 2nd wave behind them for support.

eg:
"Warriors step forward!"
"Warriors ready your weapons!"
"Warriors Charge!!!"

6) Eventually the battle will become just the two massive armies pushing the other to the opposing town but the RP start to it will give the conflict the Warcraft III epic feeling that WoW seriously lacks.

7) Once an army pushes the bulk of the opposition to the opposing town's graveyard they win!

8 ) People are able to rez and rejoin the battle as many times they want since the battlefield will have a graveyard for each side. It is not adviced for anyone to spirit rez since it would be counter productive as they will get rez sickness and not able to rejoin their side in full capacity.

9) The more deaths that happen to one side in a short amount of time will mean the closer that the opposing force gets to your town.

10) If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. The event date has not been decided yet so some minor changes may be happen.

(( How are team leaders going to be decided?

Will there be some kind of ref standing watch at each graveyard to call if the other side has moved in enough to claim the graveyard for victory?

Will there be a mininum number of players needed to claim the graveyard to prevent rogues from attempting to stealth claim when the armies are still in the middle?

There's going to probably be some random gankers in the hills so not everyone's gonna be up and alive when the armies meet and have their discussion. But it shouldn't be too much of a problem since we'd be in a large crowd so only a few mostly low levels will be picked off. ))

Longcat walked along the crowded streets of Orgrimmar with a pair of baskets full of fish to be smoked to perfection with his good friend Zamja.

Ah, dat lass sure doz noe 'ow ta cook a meal!

The rogue licked his lips already sinking his teeth into the fish dinner he was going to make. A crowd was gathered to the side of the street next to the bullentin board. A number of them were around the same season as Longcat or lower and a few were high seasoned vetrans of battle against the alliance forces.

"Oi, wot's goin' on ova der?" he called out to the group of fellow horde.

"There's going to be a big fight in Hillsbrad soon!"

"Tch, der's always a big scrap in der. Tell me sumtin' new!" Longcat shook his head lightly.

"They say," a troll stood next to Longcat, "that there's going to be an actual organized battle in the fields of Hillsbrad. One with a clear goal of victory for each side proposed by both Thrall and the dwarvern leader."

"Soooo... wot doz da victor git?"

The troll chuckled to himself, "Besides his life and a victory for the Warchief?"

"Well, dat's gudd too I 'spose. I tink I'll give it a look-see lata when e'erywun ain't tryin' ta eat da notice off da board. Seeya later, chap. I've got sum fish ta smoke." the rogue gave a wave and proceeded into The Drag to Zamja's kitchen.

Clys grinned to herself when she heard the news. Hillsbrad was always fun to fight over. She doubted that another battle would change the state of affairs much, but it didn't matter. At the least, she would get blood on her hands. If the two sides managed to gain a bit of respect and restraint, so much the better, but she wasn't holding her breath. And she could hold her breath a very long time.

(( How are team leaders going to be decided?

The Guild leaders present will be on equal term during the battle and will be recognise during the term agreement.

Will there be some kind of ref standing watch at each graveyard to call if the other side has moved in enough to claim the graveyard for victory?

There is no need. Like it is mentioned the, bulk of the opposing army has to be pushed to their graveyard. If one or a few people sneak passed the opposing force it does not count.

Will there be a mininum number of players needed to claim the graveyard to prevent rogues from attempting to stealth claim when the armies are still in the middle?

There is no need to have rogues or anyone at a graveyard until the battle ends. If a Rogue stealths and claims thegraveyard it does not count. The opposing army must be pushed to their graveyard to claim victory, sneaking passed them wont work.

There's going to probably be some random gankers in the hills so not everyone's gonna be up and alive when the armies meet and have their discussion. But it shouldn't be too much of a problem since we'd be in a large crowd so only a few mostly low levels will be picked off.

There is always the possibility of a griefer. That cannot be avoided, but since both armies will march as one, they should be well protected and if a guild member from the opposing force decides to do that then it wont reflect good on them.

The time for battle has been set. Both the armies of the Horde and the Alliance shall meet on Saturday 25th at 9pm in the open field between Tarren Mill and South Shore for a clash that would deafen the greatest of storms.

Both sides think the oppenent to be a disorganised bunch of poorly trained mercenaries with no loyalty but to themselves and incapable of following a battleplan. This is the opportunity to demonstrate your coordination and order by marching in formation towards the battlefield to meet the other army and awe them with your grace and power.

Next Saturday shall decide which side is the owner of Hillsbrad and which side will live in occupation under the shadow of the other.

Hillsbrad Foothills shall not be known as contested territory after that day!

ooc:

It is adviced that at 8:45pm Armies should meet and organised in their respective towns and march out to the battle field at 9pm. Both armies will meet at the marked spot.

If one side strikes before the leaders discuss the terms and the RP activities of the battle are over with several joining them, the battle shall begin without the RP elements and it will look really bad on the side that started it. Even if the offending side wins, you will likely be branded as undeciplined or dishonorable vermin and it will be victory without any grace because you could not keep your troops in order.

Each side claims to be superior to the other. This is the opportunity to proof to the other side of your superiority in organisation, dicipline, RP capabilities and of course battle skills.

A few more details or reminders may be posted before the weeks ends.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
After some scouting in Hillsbrad, I realized that the Tarren Mill graveyard is too far behind the town when compared to the Alliance graveyard.

As a result the Goal of both armies has been changed to pushing the opponent to their respective Flight Master.

When the time comes for us Guild Leaders to discuss terms you must make WoW appear in a window (through the settings) and fire up MSN messenger and contact me on frostwolf_brotherhood@hotmail.com to enter a chat room with all the guild leaders present

This way we can briefly discuss terms without having to rely on emotes.

(( Personally, I won't join any kind of outside chat, especially for an RP event, that would seriously break immersion for me.))

((I understand your feelings on it and you dont have to join it to participate. I can relay what they say in an RP fashion as it will be very brief. The Chat in the outside window will be RP anyway.

The Lore is clear that both factions can communicate very easialy but Unfortunately WoW gameplay mechanics do not allow that. I am suggesting a simple minimised window that you can bring up in the click of a button on the WoW main window. It is not drasticaly different to the existing in game chat window as you will still be watching and interacting with the opponent as you type things including emotes and so on.

Using the outside chat is the only way to communicate with the alliance and the impact is minimal if you place the chat window on top of your screen wide wow window for the brief encounter before the battle. ))
