In the name of the horde, there stood The Immortalis, Citadel, Frostwolf Brotherhood, and Legion of the New Order, Swifthawk Tribe, Misericordia, Infection, The Grim, The Nightmare, and Death Before Dishonor. Regardless of moral or ethical inclinations, these guilds and more joined together, putting aside for the evening that some were guilds of honor, others guilds of evil, some were cults, some were tribes, but all this night, we were united as The Horde.

The plans had been laid while at the Nether Council meeting earlier in the evening. Karkarov of the Immortalis would lead a southern battalion from Kargath and move north to the Loch, Citadel also was in force beside him. Scouts had warned of heavy numbers of alliance waiting for us and so the southern force road bravely towards the loch to detract the Alliance from Mistress Clys and her party who were coming from the North from Hammerfall and moving steadily south.

We’d encountered Alliance before, many times. They had gotten more and more apathetic about defending their own but tonight under two full moons, the Alliance were heavily armed and united against us. It was a glorious battle. Alliance was in full force. Horde was in full force. People fought bravely on both sides. All were heroes…. likely both would claim victory.

Danlily, however, sneaking off by herself, cheered herself silently inside as she was able to get to the lake alone to a small dock near Thelsamar. The serum was poured into the lake. Whether the poison is a success or not, well that was up to the abilities of the RAS and if they had truly created what they’d thought they had created, and if the healers of the Alliance succeed in creating a cure for it.

((I want to thank you all, Horde and Alliance alike. World RP/PVP is why many of us are here on Twisting Nether, and you all fought strongly and bravely. I hope I didn’t leave any guilds out. I was in the north group and didn’t get a list of Alliance guilds that defended the lake, but want you to know you have my thanks. Without great enemies, we have no one to fight. And thank you to all the guilds united in the Nether Council. Without you and our combined allegiances, we’d just be blowing smoke in the wind.))

The northern group was smaller, a strike force, hoping to take the dam easily while the Alliance was busy with the larger southern force. This was not to be. The Alliance wisely stationed themselves at the choke points. In the end, we did manage to get through to the dam and place our experimental toxin into it. But not without many deaths.

Here are some images of the northern force.

(( Many thanks to all who came to the event. It was an honor to fight alongside the Horde members, and a pleasure to fight against the Alliance members. You all rock! Sorry I did not get any screenshots of the southern force, where the majority of the fighting took place. ))

Brakogar
02-11-2006, 11:06 PM
Brakogar cheered as the trumpets of Victory sounded for all Horde fighters to hear. It had been very close battle and the determined souls of the Alliance defenders could be seen through their eyes but the fighting spirit of the Horde allowed them to persist against an overwhelming force in order to achieve success.

We understood that the Goblins had leaked information to the Alliance regarding the invation, but we never anticipated the Alliance to have such great leaders and organisation in setting up a thick wall of fighters blockading the entrance to Loch Modan.

During the first half of the Battle the Alliance presence was overwhelming for the southern Army, it appeared that the Alliance wall could not be breached. We put aside our pride in order to accomplish Victory so the flag was waved signalling for an strategic retreat to the center of the Badlands in order to regroup and force the alliance out in order to thin their presence at the border.

The strategy was a complete success, and we managed to push the remaining alliance all the way back to Thelmasar giving the Northern Group the opportunity they needed to send troops to the lake and accomplish their task.

Many heads rolled this day but Horde Victory was achieved by the smallest of margins.

May our ancestors bless all the Horde that fought to bring the battle to the Dwarven homelands. Your determination and sacrifice has shown the Alliance that breaching our lands will have dire condequences that they will face in their own door step not some distant battleground.

The Battle capabilities of the Alliance shall never be underestimated after this day. We of the Frostwolf Brotherhood salute those who fought to defend their homelands as it is a sign of honor and bravery, something that was widely thought to not exist within the Alliance. We look forward to facing you in battle as we know that you will fight with as much honor as we.

*salute*

((special thanks to the Inmortalis for hosting this event. Very Special thanks to the frostwolf Brotherhood members that put aside their own schedule to participate and to all the other guilds who contributed to the RP in TN by participating in a grand event))

((I feel horrible that I wasn't able to come to this, tonight. However, right now, I'm sick and I doubt I would have been able to stick around long enough to do anything. On that note, I'm going to try to pack a few more things, then lay down again. *sigh* Go away, winter.))

Kaldore approaches the shadows on the eastern side of the Stonewrought Dam and looks to the shadows.

"Did you make the switch Cerse?"

A lithe Night Elf female appears with a smile on her face and hands Kaldore a vial of liquid.

"Nasty stuff. Be careful when you examine it!" Cerse said jokingly as she slipped the substance into Kaldore's hands.

"Come on... I'm Kaldore."

Liadain walked into the Stormwind Library and smiled at Count Ridgewell and the Grand Admiral. The irregularity of having representatives of both the Blades' employers in one room was not lost on her. "Good evening. I apologize for the late hour, but I thought you would wish to know the result of our labors this evening."

The Count waved a hand dismissively. "No, no. You were quite right to contact us. Your sense of urgency is a good indicator that our funds are being properly applied."

Liadain smirked. "The Immortalis and their allies were soundly defeated in battle. There were approximately four score Alliance there. Half in a group led by the Blades and half in a group led by the Ironforge Regiment."

Jes-Tereth nodded, a hint of a rare smile appearing on her face. "Most impressive that we amassed such a force without making it a true Alliance military action."

Liadain nodded but her expression grew somewhat more serious. "Unfortunately, in spite of our victory on the field of battle, the troll known as Danlily managed to use the powers of the Spirit Healer in Thelsamar to circumvent our lines. She was successful in pouring the contents of this vial into the Loch."

Liadain frowned as she placed the vial on the table in front of the Grand Admiral. Jes-Tereth picked up the vial and examined it as Liadain continued. "I spoke to Garbhan from the Regiment and they have people assigned already to the task of watching the Loch for any detectable changes. He also said they had found some sort of item on a Night Elf at the scene, which they planned on investigating further. I regret that I do not know more of that at this time."

Lia's voice remained calm, though she could feel the disapproving gazes leveled upon her. "It is our hope that the plague devised by the Royal Apothecary Society will prove to be useless. Perhaps even that it was rendered useless by the change of state, as the troll jumped back and forth from the world of the living to the realm of the dead."

The Grand Admiral glanced at Count Ridgewell before speaking. "Well, in spite of your performance on the battlefield, which would appear to be as impressive as we've come to expect, you'll understand if we cannot consider this operation to have been a success. You're primary objective was not completed."

Count Ridgewell nodded. "Precisely. I will have to speak to the rest of the House of Nobles regarding how much, if any, of your payment you shall be receiving."

Liadain stood impassively. "You can certainly understand why we never expected them to be able to transport the plague in such a way..."

Jes-Tereth nodded as she stood to depart. "That is true, Lady Greyhame, and I'm sure the Count will agree when I say that is why we are not denying you your payment outright. We will be in contact with you tomorrow, once we've had a chance to mull the matter over further. Until then, Light be with you."

Liadain swallowed back a retort and merely saluted as the Grand Admiral and the Count departed. Once they were gone, she cursed under her breath and made her own way back to the Trade District.

Lupa
02-12-2006, 10:33 AM
Lupa, nursing a warm bourbon and a sore shoulders, went over the battle in her head. She found many things become clearer after the fog of war lifts and time can be spent reviewing the actions and responses..

That Karkarov was a master tactician she had no doubt. The Forsaken had proven himself devious and daring in battle. It was no small feat to have coordinated such a large force made from elements of various Horde clans, some of whom have never worked together before.

He also saw the wisdom of keeping the Citadel contingent together under their own command. Such a large mobile force, used to working together and utilizing their own systems of couriers and order passing, is best left intact.

Lupa remembered her heart swell with pride at the sight of CHAOS (Citadel Heavy Armed Offense Squad) gathering in the sands before Kargath. The sight of the Kodo Phalanx fronting the formation was formidable.

It was not long before word arrived from our advance scouts that the Alliance had learned of our plans and a sizeable force was gathering outside the gorge leading south into the Badlands, near Uldaman. When the appointed hour arrived, Karkarov ordered the force forward with a massive push into Loch Modan. It was then that we discovered the full extent of the Alliance buildup near Uldaman. The push forward was halted in the steep bottleneck between the cliffs of the pass.

Pushing forward into Loch Modan could not happen under those conditions so the order came to withdraw into the Badlands, regroup and hopefully stretch the Alliance force thin. Citadel sent one of our senior CIA (Citadel Intelligence Agency) operatives, Skrag on a deep strike mission into Alliance territory to divert some attention from the front lines. He managed to get to Thelsamar and attack the guards. Indeed some alliance forces did break off to investigate.

With the Alliance force thinned out, the order came to renew the push forward. This time the bottleneck at Uldaman was broken and the Horde forces swept into Loch Modan.

Many heroic deeds were witnessed that hour, on both sides of the conflict. Lupa chuckled softly at the memory of seeing Lanson, the "Madness from Mulgore" charge a group of young Alliance whelplings, and the frozen look of horror on their faces as the huge warrior loomed over them.

Word came to Lupa of the success to the north, however it was costly. The small expeditionary force of Clys had met with strong opposition. The mission seemingly accomplished, the southern force dispersed and returned to their respective clan halls.

As Lupa finished off her bourbon and poured herself a second, she winced at the pain the sudden movement caused. "I be gettin too old for this I think," she muttered to herself. "Or need to askin for better pay."

Karkarov
02-12-2006, 07:44 PM
*Karkarov moves foward with a long thick rolled parchment in his hand. Seeing Clys he makes a curt bow and passes the document labled "Battle Report" to her, clearly interested she unfolds the document and scans it's contents....*

I can only say the battle was long and incredibly bloody. The southern force consisting of about 50 members of the Horde faced the alliance in what I can only call a prolonged and massively violent war of attrition.

We of the Horde originally fortified the small outpost of Kargath in the Badlands. Our forces belonged to various organizations. The Frostwolf Brotherhood, Citadel, Swifthawk Tribe, Misericordia, Infection, Nightmare, and many others whom I sadly was not able to record in my personal records. first as we consolidated forces the Rogue Eniwetok of the Frostwolf Brotherhood volunteered to scout ahead and check for the enemy positions. Reports told of two groups scouting near Kargath one being made up of members of the Ironforge Regiment, and of a large force positioned in and around Maker's Terrace the location of the Uldaman dig site.

Realizing the alliance surely would learn of us soon if not already due to thier scouts near Kargath I knew it would be wiser to take our time and move slowly in force. Once we were prepared I then gave the order to advance under these conditions. Our original offensive was actually very successful, the Citadel forces under the leadership of Lupa were first to engage. With quick support from some of the main body they were able to make fast work of the Irongforge Regiment and many members of the group called the Grayward. Unfortunately our luck also turned here.

Citadel encouraged with thier easy routing of the alliance continued foward into Loch Modan. Unfortunately a large amount of the main group had fallen behind and needed time to meet up with the rest of the forces at Maker's Terrace. A halt had to be called to the main bodies advance as a result. This resulted in a split of forces that lasted only briefly but turned out to be a massive blunder on our part.

A large and powerful force at this point, much larger and stronger than the original alliance army, moved south into Maker's Terrace. They were conprised mostly of members of the Blades of Lordaeron. They were able to slip in between Citadel's forces and the main group. Divided as we were they quickly tore into us and inflicted massive casualties. Citadel was already on the move back south but arrived late and found the main body mostly in defeat or retreat and when the Blades now joined with the Greyward and Ironforge Regiments rallying forces turned on them they were unable to effectively resist.

Hoping to prevent an all out route I took council from Phuzada whose Swifthawk Tribe was able to move into the warzone stealthily without being detected to scout and from the leader of The Frostwolf Brotherhood Brakogar who was still engaded with the alliance. Based on thier information I determined we must fall back temporarily to a rally point to form a second push to make sure our distraction for Clys's unit lasted long enough so she could complete her mission. Checking my map of the area I selected The Valley of Fangs, with it's high peaks and shadowed areas we would be able to hide there while reforming then move out as one once more. Lupa leading Citadel managed to break her forces off after hearing word of our rally and returned to Kargath where she waited the signal to resume attack.

The order was then given to Demongate of the Frostwolf Brotherhood to take a small force and scout ahead to check for alliance activity. His reports indicated that the alliance had become lazy and slackened thier defenses. Some infact had seem to leave the area. Knowing this was our best bet I sent word to Lupa to move her forces to Angor Fortress and then once she was in place both our groups would move foward in concert on foot and make a final push. Minutes passed and the tension of battle was high, after what seemd like a long stretch Lupa sent word through her hearthstone than her forces where in position and ready. After a brief talk detailing the plan and Brakogar giving some words for company morale I gave the order and we moved out in a straight rush our goal being to break through and move on Thelsamar.

The fighting from this point out became very fast and chaotic. We drove straight into the enemy in a arrow formation, putting a wedge into thier center. Our push was greatly damaging to them and many of our forces broke through. The alliance panicked at seeing our forces move into the Loch and on to Thelsamar had to play catch up this time and I knew our plan had worked and whatever forces remained in the area were surely now going to focus on us and give Clys and Danlily's unit the time they needed.

After this there is very little to report other than firece battle continued near and around thelsamar. The alliance having consolidated all of thier local forces now clearly had us on the defensive and we fought desperately to stay alive. It was then I recieved a coded message from Danlily through the hearthstone. It's meaning was clear, she had managed to sneak to the dam and completed her task, the poison was in thier precious loch! I relayed this information to our forces and Brakogar overjoyed began shouts of "VICTORY FOR THE HORDE" which was echoed by many of our forces. Knowing our job done I called an all out withdrawal of the southern attack force.

This concludes my battle report of last nights offensive action.

Signed,
Demitri Karkarov
Gaurd Eternis of
Immortalis

((Brief ooc... I just want to send a big thank you out to everyone who participated alliance and horde side. My battle report above does forget to mention Lupa sending Skrag which I talked to her about before she did, I regret that and had I remembered when I wrote the report would have included that, without the forces it pulled off we probably never would have gotten in the loch. It was a good event, everyone gave thier all, and I can only hope that next time the tables are turned on the alliance hehe.))

zamji
02-12-2006, 10:49 PM
Zamji was crowded into the battle formation, and he had to step up on tiptoes to see the battling in front of him. The army stood by Uldaman, and the sound of battle, and the smells of death reached his nose. Though the smell of death could've been the Forsaken standing next to him. He reached the front of the formation, and ran forward, casting a lightning bolt into the crowd. Several bullets and arrows whizzed past him, convincing him that perhaps he shouldn't be on the front lines. Soon though, the Alliance pushed thru the army, and were about to overwhelm them. The shout of "Retreat!" was heard thru-out the valley as several horde packed themselves into the tunnels of Uldaman. A mage caught the scent of Zamji (probably because of that Forsaken who had gotten too close to him) and charged at him, shouting incantations. Zamji changed to his wolf form and charged back towards Kargath, along with several others.

He heard the group of Alliance behind him, picking down the allies running next to him, but he kept on running. His survival depended on it. He saw the welcoming borders of Kargath, and charged into them, and into safety. Over his hearthstone he heard the screams of the horde members being massacred in the tunnels, and he prayed that the spirits would spare them. Soon he heard the cry to regroup in the center of the Badlands, and he heeded the call. The Horde was going to give one last charge, and it was going to be a hell of a charge. Once the troops were gathered up, they marched forward, pushing thru the alliance that had stopped them before, and they ran all the way to Thelsamar before the alliance could get a group together to try and stop them. He heard shouts of joy as he was told that the group to the North had taken the Dam and had indeed put the poison into the lake. His group turned around, and marched back, their mission completed. Zamji had a large grin on his face as he walked back to Kargath to celebrate.

Someone very wise pointed out to me that this original thread had deteriorated into a hateful fight that really didn't represent how great this event really was.

So I split out all of the OOC and placed it into a locked thread in the Inferno Forum: http://tn.yzeens.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=332

Please keep any future posts in this thread IC and positive.

*hugs*

and thanks to the person who PM'd me.
