{{Aha! At long last, my internet has ceased to be screwed up, and I can post here now! ... I've got alot of catching up to do, so this story is a month or two old, but now I can finally post it. It will be followed by Xenophobe and Demonslayer. Those of you who have met Sojii in person will have noticed that these three titles (Historian, Xenophobe, and Demonslayer) were Sojii's flagRSP titles, and I finally get to explain them! Enjoy.}}

In the twilight before dawn, a young troll with prodigious tusks and a great white Mohawk squats down before a red stone set in equally red sand. It is adorned with strange marks, and hung with fetishes and small totems. In carefully painted characters is written simply “The Storyteller”.

The troll reaches out to touch the stone. “’Ey dere, mon,” he says. “It been awhile, ain’t it, storytella? I done like ya said. I went ta da Valley o’ Trials. I learned of da Hoade. I dun made o’ maself a fine servant o’ da Wa’chief. I dun fought everyting from beasts ta centaurs ta dose cunnin’ ‘lliance soljers. But I neva fo’got da stories ya tol’ me. Da owd stories. Da ones I hated ta hear but always asked ya ta tell. An’ I neva fo’got da wa’ dat I’m he’e ta fight.”

The troll touches something swathed in leather beside him. “I found dis troll on da beach on day. ‘is name were Je’neu Sancrea. Dunno if ya know ‘im. ‘E’s wit’ da Eart’en Ring. An’ ‘e asked me ta do a job fer ‘im. No, he dun give me a quest. He sen’ me ta da Blackfathom Deeps. You tol’ me bout dat place. Ya tol’ me bout da Twilight’s Hamma. So I foun’ me a companion, a troll calls isself Mar. ‘E be a great voodoo-mon, Storytella, even if he do talk funny, an’ da two of us made WAR on da Hamma. Can ya imagine it, Storytella? Two trolls agin an entia cell o’ cultists! An’ we won! Did we eva win.”

“I brought sumtin for ya, mon,” the troll says as he unwraps the package beside him to reveal an orc’s skull. He turns it to face the rock, as if showing it off. “Dis be da skull of Twilight Load Kelris. A wa’lock, an’ servant of da Owd Gods. An dis troll killed ‘im! I were supposed ta give dis ‘ere skull to some Tau-ren in Tunda Bluff, but she say I could keep it when I said what it were for.” He sets the skull atop the rock. “Dere, don’ it look nice, Storytella? If it weren’t fa you, I would neva have gone down dere. If it weren’t fa you, dis evil creature would still be down dere, workin’ ‘is da’kness agin oua world.”

“An dat’s not all!” He pulls a second object from the leather wrappings. “I rememba da stories ya tol’ me. Da stories o’ Blackfathom Deeps, o’ how it came to be, when da corruption first rose from da seas. Ya neva mentioned Kelris, but I figga he be a recent addition.” The troll smiles toothily, then his face becomes grim. “But ya tol’ me bout Aku’Mai. An DIS!” the troll rises swiftly to his feet, brandishes a shining white object high “be da FANG!” he brings it swiftly down upon the skull, piercing it just above the brow “o’ AKU’MAI!” He releases the fang, which has been driven clear through the skull and into the rock itself.

“You was neva no great warrior. Neva a great leada. Ya was a storytella, mon. Da Storytella. Youa job was ta inspia. An ya did it, mon. Dis skull, dis toot’, day gunna stay he’e foreva, to show what inspiration can do. I won’ be back soon, Storytella. I got tings da do.” He rises, and takes a deep breath.

“EY! ALL YOUS UNNATURAL TINGS! ALL YA OWD GODS AN YA BUGGIES AN YA DEMONS AN YA UNDEAD! DIS BE SOJII DA HISTORIAN! I KNOW DA PAT’ O’ HISTRY! TIME GOES ON, BUT HISTRY REPEATS ITSELF, AN DA TIMELINE EVA SPIRALS! DA’KNESS COMES, AN DA LIGHT PUSHES IT BACK! DA DA’KNESS BE HE’E … AN’ SOJII BE COMIN’ FO’ YA!”

He looks down once more to the decorated rock. “Da nex’ time ya see me, Storytella, I gunna have a story ta tell ya. Da time fa me ta listen to stories be ova. It now time fa me ta make a story o’ ma own. Da story o’ youa life be ova, mon …” his eyes begin to tear, and he wipes them quickly. “But da Story o’ Sojii … dat jus’ be startin’. An’ I neva gunna fo’get ‘ow much o’ Sojii depends on da Storytella. Now, I be da Storytella. I tell youa stories, an mine, an any udda story dat needs tellin.” He smiles sadly. “Fa’ewell, mon. I not gunna fo’get ya.”

The sun rises in flame over a troll’s grave in the sands of Durotar, as if sung into the sky by the mournful, defiant howl of a ghost wolf. The ghost wolf that is Sojii.
