It will be a sad christmas for blizzard too. I assure you they would have made more money with a late november release. No skin off my back either way, everyone on this site is probably buying it anyway and this way we get a less buggy release and hopefully a little more refinements that dont have to be applied a month down the road.

IRVINE, Calif. -- Blizzard Entertainment® today announced that the release date for World of Warcraft®: The Burning Crusade™, the highly anticipated expansion for World of Warcraft, will be in January 2007. By adding a few extra weeks to the development cycle beyond its original target date, Blizzard will be able to extend the closed beta test and further refine the new content that will ship with the game.
“We appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and we’re excited about putting the finishing touches on all of the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve.”
Blizzard began the closed-beta phase of testing on World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade earlier this month. The January 2007 release window will allow extra time for current beta testers to participate in the final stages of development and continue providing valuable feedback.
Further information on specific worldwide release dates, pricing, and other details will be announced in the near future.
i knew it would happen, just was waiting for them to anounce it. Oh well...

They will still make money, just as much, if not more. People will come back to play, people already playing will buy it. IN all honesty, i want a finalized fucking version of ths game before its released. Ill wait another year if i have to, but no more (THIS MONTH WE'RE FIXING ROGUEZLOLZ) bullcrap anymore.

Internet gaming is 'way too dynamic a menium to expect the kind of finality and stability you're talking about. Hell, D2 had patches, and look how many times they pushed it back and "perfected" it...

I see a definite upside here.
A whole lot of newbs won't be getting this for Christmas.
A whole lot of B-net kiddies who may've been waiting to join until the expansion will get other things to distract their ADD-stricken minds from even thinking about WoW.
I'm sure I'm missing a few other types I'd rather not have to endure.

Myes... considering the fact that Maraudon, Dire Maul, Blackwing Lair, AQ20/40, Naxx, .5 sets, Updated PvP gear, epic mounts with armor, and just about all of the current talents weren't in the game at launch...
Oh yes, I'd much rather have paid for all of that with real life money, and have it called 3 or 4 expansions. That'd be awesome!

and Arathi Basin, and Alterac Valley, and Warsong Gulch, and the Outdoor PvP Targets, and Lord Kazzak, Azuregos, and the Five Emerald Dragons..

All of which, with the exception of AQ/Naxx/.5/PvP gear update, were supposed to be included with the original purchase.....
And I still don't have any siege weapons to use in the BGs. I was promised siege weapons, dammit!

I remember this one map in Day of Defeat v1.1.
The Axis started in this bunker on a hill in the middle of a grassy field (where the Allies started).
The point was to grab some dynamite and blow the bunker by charging in it. Axis just had to hold out (without a time limit it was unwinnable for Axis, but who cared? Normandy maps are also unwinnable for Axis. You just hold out). You could man a 20inch Cannon, and just fire it (unlimited ammo, long recharge). getting those long shots off, or better yet, sniping a sniper with a 20inch cannon gave you a big fuzzy.
It'd be the same if I got a flagrunning druid.
I want my big fuzzy.

Speaking of which /hijack... I heard that the reason why it was so hard to become a jedi when SWG first came out is because they weren't ready yet and Sony hid that fact, that the jedi class wasn't actually finished and ready at release, and that they hid that information from the public.

An expansion isnt supposed to be something that just comes out quick and all rapid fire. Im glad they took so long. Every other game released early, full of even MORE bugs and lacking gameplay elements to try and compete with WoW. Everyother game has had 2-3 expansions and is still shittier...lacking the ability to pvp, or in some cases jump. WoW's doing things alright.

That's forgetting of course, that WoW has it's bugs and is far from lag-free. Need I bring up the crashorific spell we went the end of last winter when I cancelled my accounts in protest? WoW isn't all that squeeky clean either.

Best Buy sent Clys a notice that the date has been pushed to January 1st...um ,are they even open New Years Day? At this point I expect January to move on to March, and then maybe we'll actually see BC next summer.
In the meantime, though I miss being horde something awful, I'm having fun on the alliance side too with Danlyra and Eisabeau....and it is nice to be able to actually sit in chairs when I spend some time in the pub, have real beds to sleep on, gnomes to snack on...um, er, *coughs*

I am not a fan of the expansion nor the course that Blizzard has taken with WoW and the Warcraft Universe in a clear attempt to mainstream it but I find this delay as somewhat positive. It gives me a little hope for the future of other Blizzard games (such as Starcraft 2, Diablo III and any non MMOG Warcraft game with a proper narrative plot like Warcraft III).
In my oppinion, it seems that Blizzard has chosen what they currently percieve as quality above profits by missing out on the Christmas market and risking the release of another MMOG during that time which could draw players away from WoW. If they were the souless Corporate entity that I thought they had become they would have taken the way of Electronic Arts and Lucas Arts (another broken heart :( ) and just begun spit out incomplete crap after incomplete crap for the sole sake of cashing in and not to provide their customers with a good gaming experience.
I hope that when the time comes for Blizzard to make a new game (in whatever universe) they stick to their roots and for Christ's sake get rid of Tigole!
