I did. She asks, "Why don't you just take a vacation day?" I told her, "Because vacation days have to be put in for 30 days in advance and no one has a firm date on when the expansion comes out, so....I'll just be sick that day." She laughed but she's cool with it.

I did promise to give her a heads up as soon as Blizzard actually gives an official date.

Clys tells me he won't be taking the day off because logging in will be congested with everyone trying to log into it, and then there will be all the emergency patches and such, which will be true. But I know I'll be worthless at work anyway being excited and wanting to play. Better that I'm home and taking the emergency patches and inability to log in out on my treadmill and not being scatter brained in surgery.

From what I've seen of the beta, anybody entering Outland will have to get their PvP fix out before they get anything done. It's going to be a SLAUGHTERHOUSE.

Those starting new characters? Well... you go have fun with the stupid names and the very excellent (except for the space invaders) quests and surroundings. The Blood Elf starter zone is beautiful... except for the Blood Elves.

Actually, Abric, the area directly around the Dark Portal on both sides will be a Sanctuary zone, meaning you cannot attack the opposite faction.

I'm another one of the weekend working types, because of class in the mornings. Maybe it'll be on a Tuesday, the one day I have nothing to do...

And however tempted I may be, I won't call in sick from either school or work. Work I used up my sickleave already on legitimate reasons, and class... yeah. Paying for that.

Of course, it's not like I haven't learned how to do either with minimal attention while my brain is off daydreaming of WoW.

My boss doesn't care a bit about games, but it's okay for her (the manager) and the surgeon to both know the reason for me calling in sick. I'm up front about it and it's not like everyday that an expansion or new game comes out that begs for a day off. On the flip side, 60% of our patient load are teenagers getting their wisdom teeth out and half of those are gamers. Guess who gets to go in and keep them so focused on a gaming discussion that they completely forget they were supposed to be scared about the surgery?

I get a lot of thank-you cards and cookies baked from their parents for making their kid's surgery a breeze. Quite a few of the kids run on about what a good time they had getting their wisdom teeth out and we've got the best reputation for patient care in the city. So, my boss, surgeon, and co-workers completely support my gaming even if they don't understand it. :D

Just a quick note to say I know first hand that she speaks truth. In a few minutes in guild chat she correctly diagnosed my daughter's complications from her own wisdom teeth extraction 3 weeks ago. On her advice we went to the clinic the very next morning..

My boss ( who IS a WOW gamer actually, right here on TN), told me this morning the date he heard is Dec 15th. Personally I think thats cutting it a little close to the Christmas wire..

Yea, date I've been told, and they insist that the warehouse will be delivering prior to the store, is November 28th. Still, I've told my co-workers that November 28th is tentative sick-call, and why I can't pre-schedule a vacation day for it.

Even if it is because the guy in front of you say throws a vat of mud out his window and slams on his breaks while on the interstate you hit him in the rear so you are libel. funny isnt it. My area is even better, the police are actually paid a precentage of thier traffic ticket fines in police revenue. Go figure there are more traffic arrests here in three months than most areas in america see in a year.

Nope, Sanctuary is stricter than that. Cenarion Hold is a Contested zone with NPCs around who interfere, Santuary is a whole new zone category on the same level as Contested, Alliance, and Horde. No fighting whatsoever in a Sanctuary Zone.

At the moment there are only two Sanctuary zones in TBC: The immediate vicinity of the Dark Portal, and the city of Shattrath in the Terrokar forest.

I wish. Back when I was nearing champion the decay rate was already eating pretty heavily into my standing gains, so for the last few weeks I put all the free time I had into PvP to speed it up, and I calculated out that it just wasn't worthwhile continuing past rank 10 as without cutting even more heavily into my non-WoW activities I would top out somewhere around two thirds, or maybe it was halfway, can't remember, through Lieutenant General.

Back on the topic of the thread, I'm likely to be 'sick' around the release date myself, though possibly not on it as the local shops or, I suppose it might be their distributors, tend to have problems getting new computer games in for the release date. Hopefully with such a big name as this the pressure will inspire them to do better.

getting 11+ was hell (I made it to twelve I think, I wasn't around to see the rankings for the last week of play).

You had to be getting 350K a week minimal to keep in standings. Because it's all standings to advance after that. It stops being casual fun
