She pawed at her right ear. The voice that ever whispered there was, to her, anoying and fustrating. She longed for it to be silenced, and knew it made him drunk with power to know it. The voice laughed, sending that now formilliar shiver down her spine. She shook her head, trying to force the fur on the scruff of her neck to relax. He knew everything she thought, so she tried not to think.

She crouched low, focusing on the sceen in front of her instead. They laughed and walked into the tavern, the couple, female and male night elves. They looked happy. The female was wearing white and looked flush with love and happieness. Maegannon's heart, what was left of it, felt as if it was breaking into a thousand shards. He wanted her to drive a wedge through them, wanted her to distroy their happieness

He knew.. he knew that these people where who she needed to distroy to prove her loyalty to him. She didn't have any choice, she would do it, she would harm these people whom she called friend. It made her nausious thinking about it.. it made him laugh. The laughter told her that she would do it on her own will, or he would force her to harm someone else.. someone more precious to her then even her own life.

Her ear twitched, and her mind screamed silently as she watched the wedding party file into the pub. She took a deep breath and pulled herself back into the shadows.. it was time to speak to a few old friends in stormwind keep...

The plan was in motion, and the sucsess in which thoes old aqaintances of hers had executed it had been flawless. Nearly two months had passed, and the panther had stayed hidden within the darkness, watching quietly, waiting for the right moment to reamerge. Her ear twitched, and she purred at the voice.

It whispered praise and kind words, words that another once used to whisper her.. whom was that other? It was there, she could see him.. but.. it was blurry and hurt her head to try and pull up thoes memories. She had fogotten why she was suposed to harm these people, most likely out of self defence, but it mattered very little to her now.

She nodded, her right ear twiching again as she pulled herself out of the cat-form that she had become so acustomed to these days. She was instructed to send a letter, every detail of it would be whispered to her as she wrote. She nodded at the voice, and sat at a quiet table in the back of the Pig and Whistle. Being an elf again felt strange to her, and she wiggled her fingers.

A moment passed while she stared at her fingers bankly. Blinking, as if shaking off a bad dream, Mae-mae had the strangest feeling like she was missing something. She wasn't sure how she had gotten to the pig and whistle, since she had been in flight to stormwind from winterspring just..

She looked at the clock on the wall. Four hours had passed since she had left winterspring! She blinked a few times.

"Maybe I need to lay off the ale.. silly dwarf husband of mine.. " She giggled, shaking off the same creeping feeling she had just a moment previous. She wiggled her fingers and picked up her pen, feeling the urge to write a letter.

"Dearest Kurohane,

I woke this morning to find myself covered head to foot in snow. I have no idea how I managed to get to Winterspring, especialy since only just yesterday I was following that fool of mine into Naxxramis.. We both apparently managed to survive, because here I am! Just one day later and fully healthy and whole! If you could name a time and place, I would like to come pick Koda up from you. Thank you very much for watching him.

I appoligise for my apparent over-dramaticness in sending him to you, I guess I am more of a drama queen then I thought of myself. In any case I hope you and the swordwalzers are well, and I can't wait to see you!

Sincerly,
Mae-mae."

Maegannon paused and looked at the letter. Perfect!

"Oh I hope she gets it soon.. I feel a little foolish, sending her all my worldly goods and my Tiger!" She shivered. "Barmaid? May I have something to warm the bones.. its a bit cold in here"

Mae mae felt shattered, like her whole world was tinkling down around her like a broken pane of glass.. Several Months?!?. She reread Kurohane's letter, the fifth time she had done so, turning the paper over to make sure she hadn't missed the big joke.

Several months?!

She had to sit down.

She looked over the letter yet again, her eyes skimming over the bit about her being married. She wondered why she wasn't more suprised by this particular bit of news. In fact, had she been less floored by the idea that she was missing "several" months out of her life with no idea as to where they went.. she might have noticed that she already knew that Kurohane and Xelthan had married..

She felt sick to her stomach. "I need to find my husband..."

"I'dinno what'cher talkin'bout woman, you've been missin' for nearly 5 months. I've been worried to death 'bout you, just ask Akita!" Gralin hugged her tightly, from his place on her lap. He'd never admit to the rest of the world that he liked to sit there, but when they were at home, even the toughness of a dwarf melted away.

"... but I was with you when ... when.. " She couldn't bring herself to say it, the idea of disapearing for 4 and a half months with out any memory of it made her feel sick to her stomach.

"No ye' weren't darlin'. I went'ta bed and when I woke up the next mornin' you were jus' gone."

"....but! If I was just... gone, why did I write to Kurohane and send her Koda?"

"I dinno love... I dinno." He squeezed her tight, and she burried her face in his shoulder. This was just to hard to think about, and it kept giving her a dizzy feeling. "Let's get'ta bed woman, maybe you'll remember in the mornin'."

It was dark and her heart was pounding in her ears, thump-thump thump-thump. She couldn't catch her breath, and she was swetty. She reached over and ran her hand along the bed sheets to make sure Gralin was there with her.. he was, good. "What an awful dream..." She reached over and lit the bedside candle, sliding out of her bed. "Just need to spash some water on my face and calm down.." she picked the candle up and walked over to the wash basen in front of the mirror.

She screamed. Her face was covered in blood, her night dress was covered in blood.. she was so saturated in it that her white hair was now maroon, plastered to her head with the dried fluid. The room around her swayed, black spots exploded before her eyes.. and the voice from her dream laughed and laughed. The floor came closer, then everything was dark.

"Don't think you can forget so easily, kitten"

Mae-mae felt sicker and sicker every single day. It had been two days since she found herself covered head to foot in dried blood.. and now there were reports of orphans missing. She was so disgusted by the thought that maybe she had something to do with their dissaperance that her normaly flushed cheeks were as pale as the walls in her washroom..

"What did the voice mean by, 'don't think you can forget so easily'... "

She spashed some water on her face and dried it with her hand towel. She could hear the faint growl of Koda from outside and felt herself smile, even if it was only fleeting.

"Alright Koda.. l'm comming." Mae shut the door behind her on her way out of her small one bedrom home within stormwind city, and locked the door. She slung her heavy mace onto her back and hoisted herself onto Koda. "Lets go."

Maegannon knelt beside her stripped frostsaber, Koda, with her hair pulled back with one hand, retching up her breakfast. She had felt strange the moment she hit the plaguelands, but the nausea didn't kick in till the moment she moved away from Light Hope. She hadn't gotten very far when she had to ask Koda to stop long enough for her to slide off his back and move her hair.

The voice was back, and it was laughing.

“Oh my kitten, don't think for a moment that I've let you go.. no no, you cannot suppress me, and I will not be done with you yet. Continue to fight me and I will be forced to reveal to your precious Alliance what really happened to those little children from stormwind.. you know, those little orphans who only live three houses down from you and that stupid dwarf. You will do as you are instructed, or I'll make it continue..."

The voice paused, and Mae prayed that it had vanished.

“By the way.. how did they taste?"

Her skin erupted in goose bumps, and she leaned over again to wretch.

"Yes sir, thank you for this opertunity to help clear the names of my brothers and sisters" Mae-mae smiled, though her insides shook with fear. The voice in her head praised her for a job well covered.

"Thank you for comming and speaking to me about this, Mrs. Silverbeard. Lady Prestor was nearly about to toss every Druid and Hunter outside the gates and send the guards on them. Yet if you feel that you can find the cuplit, and that the feline paw print is not of wild-cat origin, then we gladly accept your assistance." Highlord Fordragon smiled. Maegannon had a feeling he didn't really like her, but it hardly mattered at the moment.

Lady Prestor sneered at Fordragon, but spoke kindly enough, " It is a shame what happened to thoes poor children, but thank our lucky stars this maniac didn't try to harm our young king"

Maegannon nodded to her, though she knew that she had better leave soon. Her stomach was turning, and she was afraid that the two would notice. This was her only salvation, to pin the crime on another.. the very idea of it all made her skin crawl, but she had no other choice. She couldn't confide in anyone, not her husband, not.. anyone.

She felt the desperation of her situation begin to cave in around her, and the room dimmed in her vision.

"I will take my leave, Sir, Lady." Maegannon bowed, turned and walked out of the stormwind keep, fighting to keep herself from passing out. "breath mae-mae, breath" but telling herself this was doing little to help. She was alone, for the first time in her life, and she was absolutely terrifed.

"Alone... you are never alone kitten.. hahahah!"

A wave of nausia hit her like a sack of bricks, and the world around her dissapeared. The last thing she heard was the screams of a young child, but she wasn't sure if it was real, or just a memory.

I'm alone I'm alone I'm alone I'm alone... oh elune, help me..

Maegannon paced back and forth in front of stormwind keep. The guards kept giving her strange looks, but she dismissed them, wringing her hands in thought.

They haven't found anyone.. not a single druid, who I could pin this on.. not a one! The only one remotely close was that strange one, Upae.. Oh, what am I going to do! They're going to look at me next, I know they are, and then It'll be over. I can't even go talk to Myridian about this, thanks to .. him..

She sighed, stopping her pace long enough to shake her hands out.

Whatamigoingtodo! Myri would figure out a way to fix this.. or perhaps that Nouri priest I met that one night.. I could never talk to Gralin about it.. he'd never forgive me! Oh Elune! What did I do to diserve this fate!

The voice laughed. Goosebumps errupted along her arms and down her back.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

Careful kitten, I might be forced to make you do something else deplorable. What's worse then eating the insides of children? Ohh, I'm sure you wouldn't want to know He laughed again.

"Miss Silverbeard, will you enter please?" A deep voice from inside the keep rang out, and she had to take several deep breaths in order to keep herself from falling into another panic attack. With a nod she straightened herself and headed into the keep.

Highlord Fordragon and Lady Prestor were rather intimadating, to say the least. Lady Prestor had a hand on her hip and looked dark and dangerous. If Mae handn't thought better, she would have sword the whole incident was amusing her. The Highlord was shifting through some paperwork, but motioned for her to sit.

"Now lets see, we've intervewed every known awake druid affiliated with the alliance, and not a single one apears to be the culprate, in fact the only one who is even close to suspect is that one whom told us she sleeps in the park" Fordragon scratched his beard.

"Worthless deralict" Lady Prestor sneered, the look sent a shiver down Maegannon's spine. "You know, Miss Silverbeard, we have yet to compair your paw print. Perhaps out of good faith you would show us?"

Maegannon hated that woman.

"Well Ma'am, there is just one problem. You see I am a druid of the claw. I am unable to shift into a cat. I can change into a bear for you, should you wish to see thoes paws."

"...." Lady Prestor opened her mouth, then quickly shut it, looking farily anoyed.

"No, that won't be nessisary, Maegannon. I'd like you to seek out this.. Upae Wildchyld.. and see if you can prod some information out of her.. if she didn't do it, perhaps she saw who did."

"Yes sir." The voice laughed at her. "I will get right on it"

Or maybe she knows someone who can help me

No one can help you, kitten, you are mine.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
