Soul Shards

I was wondering...if you take a soul shard, and cast a spell on it, the person who owns the soul gets hurt, correct?
What would happen if you whispered to the soul shard? Would they hear your voice, their voice, general thoughts, or what?

Seeing as you can't take a soul shard without killing the person first, I don't think physical pain is quite possible.

I think there's sufficient vagueness in the lore outside of the mechanical aspect of the (former) spell to justify being able to take soul shards without killing the person.

Like I said in the channel earlier, Soul Shard magic is really vague. The only thing they even have about it in the game was the spell that was removed. And when something is vague in the lore, you can generally take advantage of it (Within reason) to do as you please (Again, within reason). Regarding Soul Shards, I've had my Warlock channel magic through one before and be able to "speak" to the mind of the person whose shard he had.

The lore on this type of thing is so incredibly vague that you can mostly just make up stuff (within REASON) as long as the involved parties with the soul RP AGREE on the made up stuff.

Than I saw that Necro said the exact same thing so I'm just gonna reiterate my point. All involved parties should AGREE if you're not going by ACTUAL lore, but not going AGAINST Actual lore.

A good example of someone whose soul has been sundered but they are not dead is Akama in Black Temple. The "Shade of Akama" fight is the portion of Akama's soul bound to Illidan.

Yet his physical body can still move, think, talk for itself.

Soul Shards themselves are loosely based on Soul Stones from Diablo.
