Danlily opened her mailbox. She was flipping through the usual trash from the goblins selling anything and everything “new and improved” when the thick envelope bearing the seal of the RAS caught her attention. She turned it over. It was addressed to Dr. Danlily DeStrasza. She gave herself a half smile. She was proud of her surgical work. She was elated every time one of the great Apothecaries took time out to show her something new, to teach her more than her basic doctorate work she’d earned in Hammerfall. That privilege meant a lot to her. She slipped a long claw-like nail under the wax seal and stepped aside from the crowd at the mailbox to read the letter inside.
Dr. DeStrasza,
As you know, we are working on a series of variations of the plague. We have come upon one that may be of interest to you as it has some of the properties that you and your Mistress Clys are seeking in your own research. This particular strain inflicts undeath upon the host once infected, however, there is a very long delay in the damage it does to the organs and tissues. We have been working on extending that delay to the damaging of the internal organs, but as it is not really our interest and it is yours, we thought perhaps you would like to further study this and test it for us.
We will provide you with the strain, one portion for your studies, and a second larger portion for the mass testing. We suggest the dwarves of Loch Modan. The lake there is perfect for massively distributing this strain variation to a large amount of subjects. If this latest synthesis of the plague is a success, the horde will have immortal dwarven slaves that can be passed on for generations much like silver dinnerware. On the other hand, if the test subjects reject the timing element of this new strain and their organs begin to decay, well a few less dwarfs for the roasting pan, but they will assuredly breed more for us so no harm done.
May the Dark Lady bless you,
Master Faranell,
The Royal Apothecary Society
Danlily folded the letter and placed it back in the envelope. Plans had already begun spinning within her head. The weekend of the next full moons would be perfect. Yes. Perfect.
((World event, all RP guilds invited, time to be announced))
