Agreed. If that is in any way real, then perhaps I've been overestimating the intellegence of the IRS. I had them pegged for an IQ of 32... too high, I guess.

It will happen just after you start having to pay $0.39 for every e-mail you send.

It's true! I read it on the internet!

This story comes out about once a year - the rumor that the IRS is going to start taxing you based on the virtual property and items that you own. No matter how many times it gets regurgitated, one fact remains clear - you will NEVER be taxed for your "holdings" in games like WoW, because you do not actually own any of it. All the assets of the game are the property of Blizzard. You are simply using them for a while.

Heh.

I don't mean to derail a threat, however...

Her avatar is firmiliar. Now, chances are I don't know her, but would you mind finding out if she played EQ2 on AB in a guild called Restoration or something like that?

Thanks?

Her Avatar is stolen from a piece of artwork done by the late Keith Parkinson.

Parkinson did all the original artwork for EverQuest.

Actually, if you’re talking about the avatar of the lady knighting a young man then you’d be wrong. While yes Keith Parkinson did do all the artwork for EQ, as well as many other things, he did not paint The Accolade, it was painted by Edmund Blair Leighton (1853-1922). Here’s the wikipedia article on it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmund_Blair_Leighton

However, I believe what Zust was reffering to was the fact that the guild portal site for the EQ2 Antonia Bayle guild Restoration uses The Accolade as part of the front page. I can’t say if there’s a connection there, as it’s a popular painting to use for this sort of thing.

Back on Topic:

I think they already do tax transactions involving the sale of in game items for real life cash (but I’m too lazy to research it right now). If they don’t then I could easily see them taxing them soon, I’m a little fuzzy on if that would be considered a sale of the item or more of a free lance fee based on time. Would the customer have to pay a percentage sales tax? Or would the broker have to list online sales as part of a tax form? Could you haxxorz your taxxorz?
