Branded a Traitor

Recently I was branded a traitor by an unsavory, non-roleplaying troll Shaman. I'm not really sure where he got off calling me that (I died 6 times in the defense of Orgrimmar against the attacks that called into question my loyalties), but he not only said it to my face, he yelled it through the air of the Faction Capitol (in which at least one person replied). This all stemmed from apparently seeing me, not flagged, standing next to one of the alliance offenders. This being after I had died 5 times trying to help kill those same offenders.

It's rather hard to describe the circumstances without going into a 50 page rant, and I'd rather spare you from that :) My question to any of you is..have any of you ever been branded a traitor to your faction? How did you deal with it? I'm normally rather thick skinned..but when someone says I've betrayed my faction, conspiring with the enemies to lure unsuspecting Horde to their demise...I take that rather seriously. Especially when said-accuser announces it to the zone as if I'm some wretched Ninja-Looter.

(By the way, this is Tingo the 30 Troll Hunter. Whereas I've not RPed much in the /RP channel, I have seen many of you there. Haven't changed over my avatar since I was alliance, hence why I'm identifying myself :) )

Heh least I'm not alone, I suppose :) I think I have heard you speaking about that in the RP channel once or twice. Perhaps it was here. What's funny is the fact that I was the most trigger happy of them all...facing certain death and graveyard-running, yet I'm the one branded a traitor. I'm sure this punk can't do much beyond tell a few of his friends ta *watch out for that Tingo guy, he'll sell ya out to the Alliance!*, but it still bugs the heck out of me, yanno? If I was 60, perhaps I could counter the negative press with sheer force of will, but being 30 and new to the server...well..this isn't exactly how I figured on building a rep.

I know it's all rather petty, but I take pride in my reputation whereever I go. To be called such a thing really gets to me on a level I didn't think existed.

Don't worry about it. I take it as a badge of honor. They call me a traitor, when we're the ones selling out our reputation in exchange for protecting the Horde. We'd rather be called names than have the Alliance rally against us because we attacked them for no reason. If they're the ones giving the Alliance a reason to get pumped against us, who's -really- the traitor?

Good point. And I'm sure no more than a few people'll ever know of the incident, and they'll forget it within a few hours. I'm still heavily protective of my reputation however, and it bugs the pee out of me. Here's hoping Vilmah is rescued from her elemental captors soon (or so I've heard in the RP channel), as your presence has been missed in /RP.

I've been kind to this fool in not repeating his words, but it was more along the lines of *Dnt listin 2 tingo hez hlpin teh alliance*. I guess he thought my inaction in the 3 seconds it took for the rogue to kill him the first time was an admission of guilt. He never mentioned the second time..in which I flagged to concussion shot the bugger, buying him a crucial half second to fall off the roof to survive, leaving me to die. But I suppose you win some and lose some. Nothin' I can do about it but suck it up.
