"Wakey wakey eggs and... Mmm, delicious bakey" hissed a voice.

Tick caught the delicious scent of bacon as conciousness slowly returned to him. The Goblin opened his eyes and was met with the glare of a bright light, he shifted to cover his eyes but soon realised that he couldn't move his arms. Struggling a bit as he blinked his vision clear, Tick concluded that his arms and legs were in fact bound.

"Well helloooooo there, sleepy head!" mocked a voice in a deceptively well-faked regal Gilnean accent. The light was suddenly blocked by the shadow of a.... UGH!

A bloody shark's maw?

No, not quite. Before him, inches from his face, the lipless and cheekless maw of a Goblin. Tattered strips of infected flesh and skin still hung from the edges of the Goblin's mouth, but for the most part the full extent of his pointy yellow teeth were visible. The mutilated Goblin exhaled slowly and an unnaturally foul scent wafted over Tick's face, bringing him to tears.

"Bacon?" spat the increasingly ugly Goblin, Tick noticed suddenly that the Goblin had no whites in his eyes which paired with his very dark brown eye color made for an exceptionally intimidating affect. The Goblin suddenly dangled a strip of very raw-looking bacon in front of Tick's face and he shrank back in disgust. "No?" The Goblin quirked his head and raised a brow, but after a moment Tick began to consider that maybe the Goblin was just twitching. After a moment the Goblin shrugged and threw his head back and slowly lowered the strip of fat into his mouth, then noisely sucked it down his lipless maw.

With that the Goblin slinked away suddenly and the glaring light returned for a moment, blinding Tick to everything around him. Then, with a loud click! the light subsided and Tick's eyes slowly began to adjust to gaze upon his surroundings. He was in a kitchen, apparently he was still in Silvermoon as the room screamed High Elf. He was sitting in one of many chairs which surrounded a painstakingly hand-crafted table of several different species of wood, all masterfully inlaid into the table's nigh-reflective, polished surface. He scanned the other chairs and found most of them to be empty, but as his gaze fell upon the chair opposite of him, he retched and struggled in his bindings.

Sitting just opposite of him across the table was the charred remains of a now headless Goblin. The Goblin was so badly burned that he was unidentifiable, but a sinking feeling in his gut told Tick exactly who the dead Goblin was.

"Ahh, seems you've found that ol' Kick done kicked it, hm?" came a voice from somewhere to Tick's right. Tick turned and saw the mutilated Goblin exiting the kitchen's pantry, holding something in his hand. The Goblin stumbled and caught himself on the doorway before he could fall, he didn't curse though, oh no, instead the Goblin just chuckled quietly and shook his head, "Seems our hosts aren't quite yet over my uninvited instrusion". Tick's eyes instantly fell to the Goblin's feet and there he saw what he had tripped over. On the pantry floor, laying prostrate and bloodied by innumerable stab wounds, a family of High Elves; Father, Mother, and two young adolescents. Judging from the days trail of smeared blood leading into the pantry from somewhere outside of his vision, Tick determined that the family had been slain elsewhere in the home and then were dragged into the pantry for 'safekeeping'. Tick gaped at the horrific spectacle and snapped his vision back on his captor, whom shut the pantry door behind him and casually strode over to the table next to the charred and headless Goblin corpse across from him.

The Goblin knelt slightly and wrapped an arm around the headless Goblin's shoulders in a disturbingly friendly gesture, and peered across the table at Tick with his ever-smiling face, "Ain't this swell? All the boys back together again, just like during the War! Damn, weren't those the times, Ticky ol boy?" Tick thought for a moment, had he met this particular Goblin with Kick during the War? Suddenly realisation struck Tick like an Ogre's kick to the loins.

"You!"

The Mutilated Goblin gasped and placed his free hand to his heart in mock-exaggerated surprise, "Me?". Tick could see the object that the Goblin had retrieved from the pantry still clutched in his gnarled hand, a... Spoon?

"What happened to you?" Tick inquired, it was best in these circumstances to talk with one's captor, but Tick also found that he was actually curious.

His captor threw back his head and cackled the most ugly cackle Tick had ever heard, sending spittle and pus flying from his lipless maw.

"Wouldn't you know?" The mutilated Goblin's laughter stopped suddenly and his tone became flat and deadly serious. The Goblin unwrapped his arm from the charred corpse and dismissively pushed it out of the chair, taking its seat without so much as a glance. As the corpse hit the floor there was a resounding crunch and the smell of burnt flesh and exploded organs wafted into the air anew.

Tick gagged, his captor though, didn't even flinch.

"Or did you not take that into consideration when you turned coat and handed us over to the Elves on a silver platter?" spat the Goblin, despite his captor's justification for anger, his voice remained disturbingly calm. Tick couldn't see so much as a glimmer of expression on the Goblin's face either, though, it was difficult to read expression from only half a face.

"Look, it was a lot of Gold, you know how things are, business is business, besides it was Kick's idea to begin with anyway" Tick tried his best to sound sincere.

"You know" said his captor, suddenly changing the subject, "They never fed me, not once". The Goblin's black gaze burned into Tick, and despite himself he couldn't help but shake under it. "I ate rats, now don't get me wrong, I'd eaten rats quite a few times as a runt, but every damnable day nothing but rats, and that's If one scurried into my cell from hell knows where". Suddenly the mutilated Goblin placed his hands behind his head and reclined back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. "After a while though..." the Goblin suddenly became very quiet, after a few agonizing moments of smelling charred flesh his captor spoke once more, "I ran out of rats for however many weeks, I had quite a bit of Rat's blood rationed in some 'water' skins I fashioned out of the furry little bastards' hides, but soon enough even that ran low..."

Tick could have sworn that he saw the mutilated Goblin touch his fingers to the tattered remains of his lips and cheeks and then lick his fingertips.

Without any warning the Goblin lunged across the table and clasped a hand over Tick's mouth, his other hand pulled out the spoon and dug it savagely under Tick's left eye and into the socket. Tick screamed a muffled scream and struggled in his bindings to no avail. He felt a pull within his head and he swiveled his eyes. Suddenly Tick's vision distended and his stomach rolled as he realised that he was looking in opposite directions. The bastard had pulled his eye out of its socket! He heard cackling over his muffled screams and felt something flicking painfully against his dislodged and dangling eyeball. Tick struggled and spasmed as if possessed and then with a quick feeling of pressure it ended and his captor pulled away, taking a seat on the table in front of him.

Tick blinked a few times as he realised that his eye had been popped back into place, though his vision was a bit fuzzy in his left eye and it ached signifficantly.

"An old trick" said his captor flatly, "Rinse and repeat you see, hurts like a sumbitch' and you can pop it right back in, for a while anyway, easy to sever a nerve or two if you're not terribly good at it, unlucky for you I've been away for a few months"

Tick began to chuckle despite his circumstance, "Months? I don't know where you're getting your information, but the last time you saw me was years ago, welcome to the future, you bastard." Tick laughed as he watched his captor's eyes widen in surprise, "Wars over, me and Kick set up shop here in Silvermoon while you were eating rats underneath our feet!" Tick's eye was begining to tear profusely from the irritation and his lungs ached from laughing, but he didn't care, he knew he was going to die. Tick and his captor's eyes locked for a long moment as if they both knew what was about to happen until the Mutilated Goblin finally scooted towards the edge of the table and broke the silence, "Let's do it again".

Hours later...

Smiles, he finally found the nickname appropriate, reclined back in his chair with his feet up on the table. He dangled a long strip of bloody 'bacon' over his maw and chomped at it as he slowly lowered it into his mouth. He spared a glance across the table at Tick's burning and eyeless body, still strapped to his chair. Smiles gave his old comrade a mock salute before standing from his own seat and striding over to the two late-Goblins' bags and satchels that he had piled in the corner. He rummaged through the bags and retrieved a little device with a pair of speakers on either side. He placed the device up on a shelf and flicked a switch, and was pleased to hear pre-recorded music play.

Smiles stepped back from the radio and let the upbeat music fill his senses as he began to do a little dance. As the burning corpse of Tick began to catch the nearby table as well as other nearby furniture alight, Smiles made his way from the High Elf home and into the Silvermoon streets. The House becoming engulfed in flames behind him.

Yes, Im Stuck in the Middle With You,
And Im wondering what it is I should do,
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face,
Losing control, yeah, I'm all over the place.

Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the Right,
Here I am, Stuck in the Middle With You.
