So. Much. Douchery.

Look, obviously they should have carded the guy, probably some apathetic youth that couldn't be bothered, but banning them is a bit much...

ghey, suicide girls are hot.

Keep your hustler, keep your bleached barbie playboy, all I need are tattoo love girls. :P

Double standards aside - good riddance.

Suicide girls is a dumb name. Imo.

Banned and should rightfully be so. Too much liability at stake for someone to fuck up just once at a convention like that. Good riddance.

So many pruds here. :P Not any worse than the booth babes says I.

Y'know... Super Chics is awesome too.

Not a prude. I'm thinking straight here. Do you have any idea how much of a clusterfuck selling an underage person pornography is? I don't think you do.

Could have gotten bad enough so that there was no more Comic Con.

Use your head.

The hell does Suicide girls have anything to do with Comic-con? Do they have comic tattoos? At least these booth babes represent the product i.e dressing up like some w.o.w thing or a super hero just in a sexy manner..Suicide girls are just girls who have tattoos..they really have no business in being at a comic convention. Maybe a fetish con or a tattoo con..just not...there.

SuicideGirls are popular with the "geeky" crowd.

The rule should be that everyone gets carded... that way there's no room for anyone 'forgetting' or not carding because they didn't think someone looked a certain age.

They do it for alcohol at most places that sell it from what I've seen... even people who are very much past 21. When I had a seasonal job at Cost Plus the management pretty much said to card everyone, regardless of how old they looked or if they got pissed off about it. The liability just wasn't worth it.

And for the record, for those that are so willing to scream "PRUDE!" at them getting banned when they probably did sell porn to a minor... Distribution of pornography to minors, in the US, constitutes a felony charge that will land people on sex offenders lists. The event would be shut down in its entirety if someone reported it, and no convention center or hotel plaza would lease out space to an event that has any sort of sex-offense associated with it because the liability would extend to them as well.

So, Suicide Girls can hope for better luck next year by ensuring that all employees card ALL customers for purchases or face getting fired. Conceding to do that would be enough to get them back in.

I'd still really like to know what the hell they have to do with comics. It'd be like a trekkie dressed up as spock going to a w.o.w convention.

I'd rather my geek of a boyfriend (and he's a major one) oggle at some chick dressed up like cat woman than some chick in a tank top who happens to have tattoos..I'm just sayin, they shouldn't be there anyway.

It just seems so retarded to me. America has such backwards views when it comes to stuff like this. It pisses me off to be honest. Oh, we can execute 15-year olds tried as an adult but if someone accidently saw some rude boobies, well then damn, it's time to crucify.

A lot of things use Comic Con for the publicity.

Way to go a bit extreme with these points. But if you want to go that route ok, if the 15 year old caused a murder that was horrifying enough to get him the life penalty then he got justice. You have your head turned background if selling an thing to a minor is ok and this minor doesn't even have to be 15, he could be 18. Because I'm pretty sure that if he was 15 there would be an adult. But the kid is still 18 and not 21, If you want to see porn so bad just look it up on the interwebs. Don't sell it a comic con.

...edit I forgot that you can be 18 to buy porn :3 make that 17!

Nazshakul

Wow. Just wow.

Care to elaborate? Unless of course you're not done making condenscending remarks.

Nazshakul
06-29-2010, 02:20 AM
And you can't have it both ways. Either a 15 year-old is a kid, or is capable of making his own decisions.

Edit: Okay, I didn't think that this would be as controversial as it was. I just wanted to point out a bit of news and my opinion on it, but it seems some people are uncomfortable with this.

It's circumstancial. Suicide girls broke the law of not only a federal law but those made by their company and the convention and should rightfully been banned. I still stand by my thought of they shouldn't be there at all selling out porn. ARE THEY EVEN READING COMICS IN THIS THING?...

There is a difference between booth girls, and a 'soft'-core porn site at a COMICS CONVENTION.

Boooooobies.

I have nothing else relevant to say to this conversation. Well, I'd noobish-ly ask who they are but I think I am getting a good amount from reading this thread. I think.

Chirp.

They've been at Comic Con for 4 years, and no one has said a thing. Yeah, they made a boo-boo, but I still think this is an overreaction. That includes the legal ramifications, there's NO reason why it should be a felony. A misdemeanor? Sure. Maybe they should be suspended for a time.

I didn't intend this for a political debate, so the thread probably needs to be deleted.

Synestra

It's a felony because the law stipulates that it is a felony, just like selling smokes to a minor is a felony and alcohol.

They broke a law.

Tits and ass aside, they broke the law. End of point. Surprised they were even allowed to sell pornography at the convention, but conventions are often abit weird on those things. Its not about 'screwed American values', we sell guns without licenses at conventions, all sorts of things.

Law was broken, period.

Vyn

Law...was...broken?

Did you read the article? Because the information was murky. The person they sold it to may not have been a minor. Yeah, he should have been carded, but either way, there's nothing saying the person was a minor. I know I look like a 14 year old, but I'm 18.

You guys are freaking out like the suicide girls raped this guy. They sold him some porn. Tell me you didn't look at porn when you were 14-18-now. Come on. Lie to me. It wasn't even any weird shit, they have tattoos and boobies. It's not like they were fucking sheep in the porn they sold.

So get over it. I don't understand why you're all so offended over someone buying porn.

Synestra
06-29-2010, 02:49 AM
I'm not offended by them buying porn. I'm saying that they have no place at a comic convention when they have nothing to do with comics. Also yeah I looked at porn but I didn't buy it! And no-one said that they raped this kid so stop over exaggerating us apparently exaggerating. Simply saying they broke convention/company/federal rules and rightfully got punished.

I don't care if a kid looks at porn, it's natural. Again -my- personal stance on it is they shouldn't even be there to begin with.

I'm not a prude by any standard, but piercings and absurd amounts of tattoos are disgusting. I don't want anything designed to pierce flesh anywhere near anything that may be an objective for my junk to go in to.

Heh. Here's (http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_exhib_1.php) a list of the exhibits at Comic Con. I'm absolutely certain that every single one of those are comics, comic producers, or are otherwise 100% related to comics.

Comic Con is more like Woodstock for nerds than a purely Comic-based event.

EDIT: I think my favorite listing is Hasbro Toy Shop.com. Yes, you can buy comic-related toys there, but IT ISNT A COMIC!!!! I'm sure that absolutely NONE of the suicide girls had Comic tattoos on them.

Synestra
06-29-2010, 03:00 AM
Then let me rephrase this. I really hate the idea of anything not related to comics in a direct form at a comic convention. If the only reason why they're there is because "geeks like them" and it has nothing to do with comics other than that..then it shouldn't be there.

Since Jeeds is asleep right now, I'll fill in for him. Hasbro has a long history with Comics so I'm just gonna stop you right there.

They have comic tattoos? That's just as relevant as design schools, toy shops, and webblogs.

EDIT: lol? I addressed that. If comic toys are welcome, so are comic tattoos.

Considering -they- don't do tattoos of comics then no. They're just chicks who have tattoos of comics. Hasbro sells and manufactures comic related toys. There's a huge difference. Suicide girls sell soft core porn.

You're missing the point.

They're there to show their love of comics and all things geeky. They'll sell their porn there, sure, but they're also supporting the comics industry.

And, what, it's ok to exhibit the art there, but not if it's on someone's body?

Not as a booth or a vendor. Thousands of people attend comic con who appreciate comics, that doesn't mean they need a booth. I would much rather a booth go to an up and coming comic company or artistic group than them.

They were banned to cover Comic Cons butt in case of there being a law broken. Who cares about their tattoos or breasts. The facts are there might be an issue of a law being broken and better safe than sorry in the organizers minds.

Besides, a soft core porn site (and dress it up however you want, it's soft core porn) isn't really suitable for a comic convention. And booth babes, as stupid as they are(the idea, not the people), aren't promoting what again amounts to a porn site.
