My girlfriend refuses to ever play any Blizzard game ever.

And another girl I am ultimately enamoured with and is an extremely old and good friend (I'm stuck in the Friend Jar with her.. she "loves me like a brother" OOOH NOEZ!!) has recently popped back up on the RADAR and is playing CoV with her multi-game guild.

I've *always* loved my experiences in CoH/CoV. They rank among the most fun I've had in an MMORPG. It was due to the lack ov loot, a somewhat RP-friendly atmosphere (Yay Virtue server!), and I could still get missions done solo if I wanted to (I also loved collecting all the badges).

I played City of Heroes on and off for a few months. The character creation is the most amazing thing I have ever seen, but the game itself sucks. Every single solitary mission is the same exact thing with differently skinned enemy NPCs.

As a quick aside, staying clear of the debate over whether Christians should try to live as Christ-like a life as possible, the contents of the bible...aren't the same as they've always been.

Not telling most people anything new, but you can't forget about the numerous councils to decide which material would be included and which would be eliminated based on the power structure's goals at that time. Not to mention the 4-or-so translations it's gone through, also completed by people who in many cases had their own agendas. The liberal translation of a few words here and there can completely change the meaning of a passage, or at least steer it in a direction more favorable for the translator.

That shouldn't make the book mean less to you, but the Bible was not faxed to us by God.

Also, Catholics didn't stop lying after Luther came around. They're not exactly the only ones who've played that game, though. Ask a few of the more prominant American fascist groups about Ham sometime. It's amazing how even without changing King James by even a letter you can support an awful lot of hateful things with the right (wrong) interpretation of any sacred document.

One calling a religion wrong if one disagrees with it and does not choose it because one does not agree with it isn't a line, it's a standard that should be automatically assumed.

Even the most open-minded follower of a single religion follows this mind-set. "Wrong" is relative to "right," and if that open-minded person follows one religion, then that person probably considers his or her path more "right" than others, making the others more "wrong" to him or her than the path he or she takes. It might be said in a less controversial connotation, but it means the same thing.

I've never understood how arguments get started on the premise of "He/she said my religion is wrong." If there's a debate (with genuine conviction) on all sides, between followers of two separate creeds, isn't that a given?

It'd make much more sense to me if arguments were based on "why" X religion isn't wrong. But that wouldn't make much sense either, because argument is based on reason, and reason and faith are non-complementary. Faith is the ability to believe without the warrant of tangible evidence, reason is the interpretation of environmental stimulus. The moment one "proves" their "faith," "faith" is destroyed, instantly becoming "reason."

So, it would make the most sense to say "argument is an inappropriate course of address in this context, because I could say that I believe the cosmos is the metaphysical snot of a giant frog-like deity, and you'd be hardpressed to prove otherwise in purely Lincoln-Douglas terms," and not get into it in the first place.

My point is that racism, sexism, and especially religion should just be left at the door after someone enters the forum. He can disagree all he wants, that I have no problem with. But when someone starts calling me wrong and a belief wrong, it's just... kind of dumb. How would you feel if I said that everything you believe is wrong?
