I was wary of the idea at first but after I ran one with my guild I do have to say it is superior in some ways to standard /roll runs. In the end everyone gets something from it, rather than just a few.

I have seen and heard of a few more GDKP runs lately, but they're mostly horde side. Any of the raids I hear about Alliance side usually have the old school master loot system going. Need before greed, MS before OS, 1 MS 1 OS, infinite greed, you know?

The problem is that none of those lend themselves to GDKP - people aren't going to pay for stuff 2-3 tiers old (and Ony loot is really limited). ToC is almost never run as GDKP anymore because you would only get a few hundred gold out of it unless trinkets dropped and you had the right, very rich, people in the run.

We run an ICC 25 and ToC 25 every week, and we got lucky a couple of weeks ago and all the trinkets dropped in ToC and we got ~2k each. Nice payday.

But yeah, I like the GDKP system. It is more for the gold than gear for the most part. I really like how it actually seems like a game in of in itself with the bidding wars, and the fact everyone gets something at the end.

I wish there was a way to combine this system with the standard way of doing master looter, so that in the end everyone gets something but in the end the people who need the gear will be able to get it. I'll have to give this one some thought.

GDKP are amazing for PUG runs. They happen pretty much daily and depending on the bids that take place, you can walk home between 2k to 7k a run.

Its better than doing dailies.

1. Its more like 25-30k for an average run, split between 25 people. On really good runs, it can be upwards of the 100thousands.

2. the point is for people with lots of gold to burn it and gain gear. You bid big, win, and walk away with what you want - and at the end make some of that gold back.

When ToC was moderately fresh I walked away with 7k from one run. We had every trinket drop. 'Twas a good day.

BWAHAHAHA 10 man GDKP is pretty lolz. In a 10 man you have no competition, so why would anyone bid up an item unless its BoE. There are maybe 2 classes in the raid that can use each item (less for heal/caster mail/plate/leather) so that isn't going to make anyone any money.

Lesson from this: don't attempt to do GDKPs for raids that its a dumb idea to do as a GDKP.

Yeah, I've seen trinkets/weapons/tier tokens go for 15k+ each in ICC25 GDKPs. When you get a couple big bids like that on top of the normal bids for the rest of the drops, everyone ends up with a damn fine amount of gold, even if you bid and won a few things.

And yeah, GDKP prevelance is a LOT larger hordeside. It'd be cool to see it pick up Ally side as well, cause it's a good system

Truth, but no one toon will ever be able to hold it all, and thus unless the gold (or, rather, copper) cap is raised, nothing in the game will ever cost more than that.

Interesting points: guild banks have a higher cap, and you can put things up for B/O on the AH for more money than a character can ever have.
