Figured this would be the best area to post about this particular topic. For awhile now we've know that World of Warcraft, in combination with Upper Deck Entertainment, has been working on a World of Warcraft TCG...in fact, it just got released yesterday. For almost a month now, there have been rumors that some cards will have a little scratch-off code that you can redeem for unique items in-game...and these rumors were confirmed today. From each card set, there will be three unique codes. There will also be a point system that you can accumulate by getting point cards, at least one in each booster pack...but we're only looking at the confirmed unique items right now.

A unique pet (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l99/treesunder/hyp.gif), unique tabbard (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l99/treesunder/redtabard.gif), and a unique mount (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l99/treesunder/turtle.gif).

The best part? They're saying these items will be useable at *any* level, and the mount will have the typical %60 boost to movement speed...gnome-dashing ftw!

...discuss!

So there will be a code available in any pack you buy, or you have a random chance of getting one?

If I can, for sure, get one - I might pick up a pack, otherwise...

For the redeemable points, they're in every pack. The three codes for the listed items, however, are utterly randomized.

Bastards. And here I thought I would never get back into the card trading game :D

And just curiously are the points used to add up to buy the unique stuff or does anyone know what they are used for?

Ok I did some reading and from what I can take it is that the turtle is just your normal run speed and not a mount speed so that sounds more fair to me but still would be cool to have a turtle in my book :)

Lot of my questions were answered there :)

"Crayons taste like purple!"

"Sometimes drumsticks are chicken!"

Sigh. I really don't want to have to pay for another card game, but those rewards look pretty cool.

Well, at least the tabard. I collect tabards. *nods*

EDIT: After reading the article linked above, I've come to the conclusion that this is all completely stupid, and an excuse to try and get players that have no interest in card games to buy it anyway to get cool stuff in the game.

Gah.

Anyone can get any of the items, just have to put in your char with the code.

And the points accumulate to purchase items both in and out of game. Out of game, you can pick up more cards, auction with your points for original artwork, and other such unique items. Most will include a cash amount with the points, S&H or some such things.

In game, the three items that are announced are another tabbard (different color/design), a reusable trinket to make a special Firework (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l99/treesunder/F1.gif) Display (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l99/treesunder/F2.gif), plus another reuseable trinket to change your appearence (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l99/treesunder/Suit.gif) slightly.

As I dig up more dirt, I'll be sure to pass it along.

Edit: Thanks for catching my noob mistake on the mounts...still awesome.

Except they move at normal movement speed (On foot). It looks like it's purely cosmetic.

Of course they want people to play their card game and hope it sells but they are trying to sell to people that just play WoW to get some in game stuff.

And sadly, they have sold me. I am sure I will buy a few packs here and there...

You're 9 hours from the WarCraft South Park Episode.

What better event to market the card game eh?

What on earth is that gnome with the firework trinket wearing? It looks like a fabulously colored Sith Lord.

Well, no wonder.

Also, what a shame. I would love to see that on a troll sometime, but NO~!

Nope, nope, nope. While i think that turtle mount is too funny for words...i'm not a card buff, and i'm not gonna be suckered. If i was wealthy.....maybe, but since i already give my monthly payments, i'm not buying into blizzard anymore than i have to. It's a brilliant move for the company though, they're gonna make millions....but not from me.
