Going to start putting some of my zBrush works from both my class, and personal sculpts and ongoing projects, since not everyone who might be interesting in seeing them might not read my blog, which is fine. So, here we go.
Feel free to comment, as questions (I'll do my best to answer, or direct you elsewhere), or offer any suggestions.

Yup, wanting to try and push my limits with this one, especially since I liked how the flow I was getting ended up in. Also wanting to try and fix my technical issues on this one as well.

The intricate crafting in both of them really show. The first seems more dramatic than the second; I don't know if that was intentional or of it's just a step behind in progress. Either way, I'd love to see the final result and how the colors and shadows brings their faces even more to life.

Those are pretty amazing! I've seen some zbrush work from a classmate of might, but they were pretty basic models, no where near as detailed as these. I try to stay away from 3-d modeling programs, xD; They make me dizzy, but I've heard that zbrush is a lot less technical... or something or rather.

These are very very cool, love the detail and the program looks interesting. I'm pretty awful at anything related to sculpting, though this looks tempting simply because it won't trigger my clay under nails + dry hands neurosis.

The nails I cant comment on, cause, regardless of what you sculpt with (with actual clay), it will get under your hands. If you're actually wanting to try, go for some polymer clays, like Super Sculpey, or an oil based clay, like Klean Clay. Isn't water based, so it wont dry out your skin, but the oil based clays will do the opposite, keep your hands fairly well moisturized, but you'll want to wash your hands anyways, cause after awhile, even I cant stand that feeling.

I've always loved the way Zbrush looked and seemed to handle. I always pictured it to be the Photoshop of 3-D modeling.
How is it compared to 3ds Max and Maya? You don't have to use Polys do you? Or is it more along the lines of actual sculpting (here is your large amount of gray nothing, now make something out of it)? Coloring/Textureing i hear/seen is about 100000x better in Zbrush then photoshop/Maya/3ds Max.
Are you planning on textureing your models?

Zbrush is better for sculpting, in the sense that you create a work of art that is static. 3DMax and Maya are better for modeling, in the sense that you create something that you plan on animating in some way.

zBrush actually has started to get into the modeling field. I was experimenting with their rigging set up, and from reading abit on it, and reading on how Maya rigs, its not to dissimilar. Maybe in the next update, it'll be a real 3d Swiss-Army Knife.
