View Full Version : Starting a new RP-PvP Alliance Guild

Hail Twisting Nether Alliance!

Since just recently finding this wonderful TN RP website, I thought I'd try coming to you with the hopes of starting a new, great guild on this, our server. I've posted the following on the official WoW forums, but thought I might get a better response posting here. Here's to hoping!

While I think the community we have is generally pretty warm and interactive, I feel as though there could be a positive addition to be made in the form of a new guild that focuses on both aspects of our server’s designation – RP-PvP.

There are some great guilds out there that I’ve met, Alliance-side, but I’ve noticed that other than a select few, people who wish to play in-character AND at a competitive level don’t have much to choose from as far as guilds are concerned. I’d like to change this.

Ordo Luminarium is being chartered under the following specifications:

1. Heavy RP guild, IC at all times (with limited use of (()) for OOC). The premise for this guild is as follows:
Character must be a follower of the Light, and play his or her character as such. Knowledge of the lore will obviously be important for this, but in order not to be one of "those" RP guilds, anyone with a real interest in the subject matter and a desire to “follow the RP path”, so to speak, is more than welcome. Roughly translated, Ordo Luminarium is Latin for “Order of the Light”, so evil-doers and pirate-types need not apply for guild membership. If you’re into D&D styled games like Neverwinter Nights, or Baldur’s Gate, or D&D for that matter, think of it as anything with a “Lawful, Neutral, Chaotic good, or Lawful or True Neutral”. Character backstory, FlagRSP, etc also heavily recommended.
2. Heavy, and hopefully well-designed and orchestrated PVP, both world and BGs. Ventrilo or Teamspeak will be used, and the Order will do their best at all times to learn and attempt to add stock in the Alliance’s efforts. Members should be willing to group and put PVP at a very high importance level.
3. PvE will not be ignored, and members of the Order should be willing to help other members of the order out with quests, instances, etc.
4. Have fun, dammit! It’s totally possible in this game to be a Heavy RPer and enjoy the game, too.

Now, I’m a realist, and while I have hopes for this guild, I don’t necessarily know how many people out there are interested in this specific type of organization. I’m hoping many, but if numbers are small to begin with, or even forever, the Order will not pick up anyone not fitting the “requirements” just to pad numbers. Quality over quantity.

Equally, I’m starting it with a low-level character in hopes that there are similar low-levels out there that want to get in and grow along with a great guild. I realize this might come across as a lack of knowledge of the game, but I’ve been playing since launch, and I’m sure there are quite a large number of lower levels on this server that have as well. I think growing your character with a good guild really adds to the experience of this game. Even if you are a complete neophyte when it comes to WoW, if you’re eager to learn, RP, and have a good time, the Order will gladly accept you.

If you’re interested, either send me an email in-game (Dalwin) or post here. Thanks for reading!

Hmm... perhaps this new organization will actually be somewhat of a challenge? The rest of you are far to easy.

((Sounds like a cool idea. See you soon.))

Thanks for the support. Hopefully this will work out in the long run. :)

Sounds like a great idea Dalwin, and I hope you see some success with it!

Please don't be discouraged by a seeming lack of interest. I can guarantee everyone here WANTS you to succeed.

Why you might not "see" a lot of interest here:

1) Despite many efforts to make this an equal Horde/Alliance website, significantly more of the active TNG-ers are Horde.

2) Most of the people here are either guilded already or (for whatever reason) prefer to remain guildless.

3) You need a "hook". Good guys who will RP and PVP guilds are almost as common as evil guilds who will RP and PVP. Imagine that *grin*. You want to get people interested in your guild? Write a story, have a specific goal for the guild. Where's the drama (the good kind ;))?

last, but not least:

3) We see a lot of new RP guilds start, and a week later the person who started it gets discouraged and either cans the project or finds another server. A lot of times people with start new alts to help out the guild, but when the guilds fold these alts get stuck on a backshelf somewhere never to be played again. I'm not saying your project will die, but if you stay committed to your goal, be active in the alliance RP channels, be active here!, and maintain a good attitude, you'll see results.

The thing is, most of us here are Horde, or already have obligations with current guilds and such.

If I played alliance, I would undoubtably help you.

But I don't ><

Ha! SHADOWSPEAK burned you, Skyze! Bwhahahaha!

If there is an Alliance thing going on - keep it up. I will be keeping an eye for the roleplaying posts to come.
