Um...

Moonglade didn't give him the boot. It's kind of detailed in the Masks thread, but what happened was Alucian gave into his rage and came too close to the spirit of the Cat. Because of that, he was stuck in Cat form for almost a month in Ashenvale. He was saved by Celestrae and Barke, and he went back to Moonglade for rehabilitation. Despite his progress, he couldn't let go of his grip on his feral nature, so the druids suggested he give up the way of the druid. Not because he wasn't good at it, but because if he did revert again, there'd be no going back. He would have lost himself completely.

So, rather than put himself and those he cares about in danger, he gave up the druidic ways and started down the path of the warrior. :)
