Due to the graphic nature of this post I felt it best to link my opinion rather than posting the image itself. Do not visit this link (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r217/DMDyet/AlienVersusPredatorRatings.jpg) if you are uneasy about gore. But basically? It should have been banned.

I'm honestly suprised It got through like that, all said and done....if only cause one: Very detailed "Trophy kills" from preds and....err..Fuck yous by the aliens
Alien V alien is the worst, as far as gore, involving me cutting your face off.
Gore doesn;t bother me much, but, this is a mature game, no if ands or butts.
So far, looks liek fun though, the play styles vary enough.
And you can activly taunt people with the alien Hiss. Fun when your on the cieling above them..and your tail lashes out a second later.

The above was my "RAWR RAWR GORE PISS SHIT" Feelings...they are not over done in the sense of this universe...grantedm this should b 18+ M or whatever in Australia....but lacking such a rating...
The violence and gore is nothing new. We saw the predators taking trophies in the form of a head and spine on the movies, and even in other games. We saw an alien tear a synth in half, and face bite humans and preds. The biggest difference is that when I mash E, I can do it..granted it seems random, and leaves you wide open, it's impressive and gaurentees a kill.
It's like a fatality in MK, just with better graphics. If you want to compare it to the old AVP2, it really is just upgraded. How so? In AVP2, with it's dated graphics, you could behead targets, impale heads to walls with a harpoon and even pounce on some one and turn them into a torso.
I have yet to see the harpoon gun, but I doubt you still get the head-ka-bobs...
the gore really only comes from those grab moves, and only from predators and aliens. For rockets, I think you get gibbed, and for guns,at least in the demo, you stay more or less whole when getting gunned down. It feels to me, that it is a fatality. Adds flair, and a quick, if over done kill, like a head shot.
I could say something about the merit of it...but it feels to me, they didn't take the discretion route. In the movies, they often cut away during a trophy taking, or you only saw something far away and obscured.
My final verdict..nothing so extreme..if a little wonky with physics of how it would all work...Not a kids game, not a kids movie

Honestly it sounds like being violent for the sake of being violent, they know it will get "attention" and any publicity is good publicitiy. They also know this game will end up in the hands of minors, they always do. Australias ratings system in general sounds like it was thought up and implemented by a crackwhore drunk who just got drop kicked by a wild wallabe to begin with. This game should blatantly be 18 or higher, it probably didn't even need to trophy kills as you call them to get that rating either.
In other news a nice vid of the demo from the only gaming site I like anymore just because they are funny...

I'm fuckin' excited for the new AVP. Used to play the 2000 version all the time at the Teen Centre I used to go to when I was 12.

It remains to be seen how much "extra" gore there will be in the campaign.
I expect things like headless bodies, the incubators and some flayed targets.
In my opinion, however, the Necromorphs from Dead space are a notch more gorier, if just because you have to dismember them or they keep killing you...and th eIssac death scenes go over the top most of the time
Warning: Full of death and what not.

Really, I am excited about the Alien Multiplayer, just cause they are so much damn fun

Wow, I played the demo for deadspace, from the amount of ways to die, I'm kinda glad I didn't rent it.

it's made by the guys who made the original AVP for the PC (which is kind of like the one made for the JAGUAR that no one played, but was pretty cool). That game, unlike the story-driven AVP2 made by a different developer, was quintessentially a survival-horror and fucking hard as balls (I got the extra stages back in the day by going all hard-mode).
AVP was a pretty good game for a FPS; it wasn't much in the way of plot because you're the one man-alien-predator army; Marine gets ambushed, everyone dies, he has to get back to his ship, everywhere he goes it overrun by Aliens and a predator now and then, cue big boss battle with Queen in Hangar Bay to homage Aliens; Alien nest raided by marines, you're the one super-smart one that releases your friends, allowing them to over-run the facility, then it's your job to infiltrate their bases and starships to allow your hive to expand, sometimes there's a predator, cue boss fight with power armor; You're a predator on the hunt, and you are just chasing your prey, apathetic to what they're doing with each other, sometimes there's a predalien, queue boss battle with alien queen.
This is pretty much always going to be the same in whatever game involving these buddies. The thing which made the original AVP so awesome, and which made AVP2 so awesome, was it's incredible fun in Multiplayer games; This was back a long time ago when the servers were hosted on MPLAYER; rather than a dedicated screen like modern games are now. You went into a lobby on the website and you picked one of their servers to play on and the website launched the game for you.
They had your standard modes, of course; death match, team death match; etc.; one mode in which I've never seen done was a survival mode called "Abandoned" in which all players were space marines and they spawned in a large crater like area with a bunker in the middle. THere were dozens of spawn point where drones would come in, and the purpose was tobunker down and survive.
Made for great fun. There's no drama in an FPS when you're all on one team.

For all you people getting bombed by nostalgia, the old AvP is like $5 on Steam right now.

These are also the same people who made that lovable game I linked a video about before too. It also featured rapid spamming of buttons for one hit kills. It seems the button actually works this time though, maybe it is because it is X and not A?

Also have to remember the license the game is coming from which is just LOADED with almost unnecessary violence. If anything, the game is trying to keep that tradition going, at the expense of my underpants.
