Mortica, I just got a thingie that said I tried to hack the site! I was at work cutting and pasting that geek, nerd, dork test thingie. I swear I didn't try to hack the site... I'm not nerd enough for that!

it happens to the best of us.

when the police come to your house you will have to pm mortica your private phone number so she can call and assure them you were not doing wrong. you will be inconvenienced for a time but it is nothing to worry over.

in seriousness, did you have the word "union" anywhere there? or things < enclosed > like so?

Mortica

no worries. It's a bit over protective and gives a lot of false alarms.

However we've been getting a lot of real hack attempts lately for some reason, so it's good that it's there. Not sure what is up with that...dunno if we've gotten popular enough that we're coming up in some sort of google search, or if all the kiddies are back at school and instead of doing their homework are trying to look cool for their peers.

Yeah, you can't embed HTML into these boards :(

If anyone wants to see what she tried to post, copy paste the rest of this into an html file :)

<TD>For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!

Congratulations!

OK, that makes some sense now. The hosting service's monitoring tools are probably set to recognize the posting of embedded code as a signature event for an attempted exploit.

No worries.. just act innocent when the FBI come for you.

... it could of been something a bit more meaty for a hack attempt, Vilmah.

Sheesh.

oh, and if you want to take the test without reading through all that code, it's at

btw, I came out

...

I'm so disappointed in myself I should go read a Linux manual or something. But I won't. Thus it is probably accurate. *sigh*

oh..just realized there actually is a thread on this in an appropriate forum and that's probably what caused all this :P
