No, it's a fantastic game. I played through the campaign two weeks ago. Yes, they did some carebear shit with it, but it is fun as hell and brilliant and epic in all kinds of ways. As I told a friend, "'Modern Warfare 2' is what happens when you show two hundred game designers, storywriters, artists, and programmers a well full of money and tell them it has no bottom."

I think Emmons was referring to the game's marketing policies, in which case, I agree. The obscene recommended retail price, withholding of dedicated servers and general derogatory statements made by Activision's CEO towards gamers in general hasn't made many fans. Some have even become passionate about their hate for the company, a group of my friends included going so far as to boycott all things Activision ( including Blizzard! ). I doubt the apparent community 'movement' against it will stop it from making a gargantuan wad of money, but I admire some of their principles all the same.

Personally I loved the first game, I felt it was as good as a linear shooter could be at the time which had a surprisingly engaging story for its genre. That said, I doubt I'd consider buying the second game unless the price went down.

I'm going to pay full price for it. You get what you pay for in sheer quality. MW1 was pretty good -- this is much, much better. Kotick said he wanted to charge $10 more for the game, and he was right. It's in a league of its own.

The Story was good. I didn't like a few things they did with the control scheme, but I'll live.

Whats eating me is that I can't seem to be able to play the Multiplayer part yet.

Yea, I didn't know this untill I started reading the forums just after I posted. Even without dedicated servers I figured there would be people out there who would rent out their own servers to use for MW2. This is heart breaking.

It seems Activision took an interesting method (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOU8GIRUd_g) of announcing Call of Duty: Future Warfare. Seems to be a bit of a ripoff of 2142 though.

Probably a bit more than 50 feet. They are much, MUCH better than I was expecting them to be. I mean, they're no military grade NVG's. But they're far more functioning than expected.

EDIT: So I just finished it on Hardened, took me about 7 hours? One of the shorter FPS games I've played, I have to say.

That said. The story actually really impressed me. A lot more intrigue and betrayal in this one, some pretty interesting stuff. Overall, Infinity Ward does an AMAZING job of making gameplay fun AND cinematic, which is no small task. Once more, you go through the game experiencing these almost... heart wrenching moments where you're thinking in the back of your mind "oh no..." or "shit...", and VERY few games actually make me do that.

The characters didn't grow on me quite so much this time around. Though, there was one really funny line I quite liked about half way through the game.

Interesting that you say the story is intriguing. I've been reading from a handful of major critics that the story is really subpar(once you get past the explosions) and that the AI is lackluster.

I will quote this from my facebook, a message from my friend, whom I spoiled the game for last night.

"You're an ass. Luckily the "story" of MW2 is so poorly constructed I had no idea what was happening the entire time. When I finished the game I had to go back and read the spoilers you sent me just to know what happened."

One review said that all of the gadgets and explosions they put in it were thought up ahead of time and then the scenarios cut and paste.

Think that was IGN.

Game Informer commented on the lack luster AI.

I followed it just fine. It was outlandish but still much better than nearly any video game's. I think its story is being noted as a weakness because it is one of the only things worth criticizing.

Uh, yeah, you'd remember the first mission if you played it. Having tried it out, it was a bit of a shocker the situation it puts you in.

No, I played it out of order. Came back two days in a row. First day, my friend handed me the controls, and I could have sworn he said DC was the first mission. The second day I played through Rio and the rest of the campaign through No Russian (brilliant mission, and was one of a couple things ever in a video game that has actually caused my gut to twist). That's why I thought the first mission was actually a flashback or "explanation."

Personally I won't touch the game with a 10 foot pole it is a conceptualization of everything that is wrong with the video game industry just like Emmons said. It isn't just the marketing, activisions asinine behavior, and the multiplayer either. Frankly the game itself is a joke. 7 hour single player? Really 7 whole hours? The story is hardly all that great, it doesn't completely suck but then it is pretty hard to have a story that totally blows ass. The multiplayer is the only reason to buy it and frankly any other COD will have better because of the way activision is handling it.

Long story short this game is nothing but a waste of time and money and a shameless attempt at proving how stupid the average video game consumer is. Hot graphics, big explosions, modern warfare in the title, so it becomes a must buy and gets great ratings. Despite it having absolutely no feature to worth writing home about.

No I didn't see transformers 2 matter of fact. I am not going to buy left for dead 2 either since that got brought up. Aint I a stinker?

I was alittle dissapointed in the Veteran mode on the campaign I beat it in one night, compared to its predecessors which took me weeks to beat. But it made up for the Specail Ops, on veteran, were it took me a week to beat with a friend. Ok maybe more then a week because fighting 10 juggernauts with only a thumber, a RPG, 10 claymores, and 10 C4 is alittle harder then you think!

But a helpful hint ( besided killing the 10 juggernauts with only explosives ) a 50 Cal goes a VERY VERY long way 5 hits = 1 dead juggernaut.

EDIT: Loved the ending in the campaign to! 10x better then planting a flag in a sand bag in World at War!
Some people I hear didn't like the story, I personally did like it, but it makes up for it on Multiplayer.
